Damn That Swishy!

The ever-so-fabulous Swishy guessed it!

My all-time favorite movie EVER:

Very hot! Very hot!

No offense to Anthony Michael Hall, but I would have been way more excited to see Jake Ryan!

And some fun Chicago landmarks:

Other favorite '80s movies: The Breakfast Club, Say Anything, Pretty in Pink, Ooh, what was that one with Darryl Hannah and Aidan Quinn... with the song "Kids in America" in it... anyone remember... Wild something or the other...
What's your favorite '80s movie and why?

If you go on Imdb, they have an update on the guy who played Jake Ryan- apparently he's married, couple kids and builds custom furniture.

AWESOME! Jake Ryan would have been better, though.

So he's filming a movie in the Chi? I didn't know this? Is he in Batman?

I only guess that since he's standing by a police car with GPD on it. And since Chicago starts with a C. And Gotham starts with a G.

    Am so SMRT.

  5. I love the movie Real Genius. It's got Val Kilmer in it and he plays a goofball smart guy.

But... my very favorite 80s movie (hell, it's my fave movie of all time...) is Back to the Future. I. Love. That. Movie.

  6. Jodi--come on, like YOU didn't already know!!! LOL!

Eileen, I remember googling Michael Sch...whatever, Jake Ryan a couple years ago and some girl had a website completely devoted to him! He's like the only guy in a movie I'd ever remembered his character name, except for Lloyd Dobbler, and Forrest Gump, oh, and Jerry McGuire...

Kristabella--yep, Batman, and I wouldn't have figured out that GPD thing! BUt we did also take a photo next to an ambulance that was for the movie so if I ever go to the movie, and see that ambulance (it has a special number on it) then I can say, "Hey, I stood right there!)

Oh, and can YOU IMAGINE saying you married the Jake Ryan hottie from the movie Sixteen Candles... What a hottie hubby he'd make!

  7. I think it's amazing that he grew from being the scrawny little guy into the man he is today. When he came back into the world of entertainment (or at least my scope of it) with Dead Zone, I was impressed with the man he's become.

  8. Andrea, same with Patrick Dempsey--boy oh boy, did that man grow up!!!

And VERY NICELY! McYummy! (and I don't even watch THAT show either!)

  12. HA HA HA HA! How fun! Except it WOULD have been way better if it had been Jake Ryan. But since Jake Ryan lives somewhere in Pennsylvania building furniture ... HOW DO WE KNOW HE'S STILL CUTE?!?!?! He HAS to be cute, though. He's Jake Ryan.

I loved Pretty in Pink sooo much. And The Breakfast Club. And TOP GUN is an 80s movie too! ha ha.

  13. I love him in Dead Zone. But it is really hard not to see him as he was in Breakfast Club, which was my favorite movie in the 80s. I had a thing for Judd Nelson back then.

  14. Ok, I tried to find a picture of the guy who played Jake Ryan and I found this info:

He is now living in Pennsylvania with his wife, Valerie, and two kids..a boy and a girl. He and his wife own and operate a hand-made furniture business.

I did not realize Michael Anthony Hall is in the new Batman movie.

I loved St. Elmo's Fire with a true teenage passion. And was also a big fan of Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles.

My other two faves were less known...Secret Admirer with C. Thomas Howell and Lori Loughlin (LOVE THAT MOVIE) and also Girls Just Wanna Have Fun with Sarah Jessica Parker. I think my friends and I watched that movie at every sleepover we had. Anyone else remember that one?

I am a huge Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink and St Elmos Fire fan. I bought the DVD's and made my girls watch the first two. They loved it. I loved Terms of Endearment and Urban Cowboy (hey, I was living in Nashville)

  23. Sixteen Candles hands down. That "Very hot, very hot" scene is one of my favorites. The song that's playing is "Wild Sex in the Working Class" by Oingo Boingo - a band who played at my high school when I was a senior.

Jake Ryan lives in Pennsylvania making furniture?? Anyone know where in PA?? 'cause I'm thinking I could do a little undercover work. I do need a table for my kitchen...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jenster--you know what I would do with a table Jake Ryan would make for me...

    Uh-HUH Baby!

Re-enact the last scene of 16 Candles, but take it maybe, just maybe a bit further! Very Hot! Very Hot!

And Oingo Boingo!!!! DEAD MAN'S PARTY is a GREAT SONG!

    ReplyDelete
  25. So I can order the table and then when I have to pick it up ask to have him "test" it with me. After all, I want something sturdy. :o)

I'm so excited you know who Oingo Boingo is. Nobody ever knows who they are!

  26. I'm not sure I would have known that was him if I were out somewhere.

    Favorite 80's movies:
Footloose (I remember we taped it off of the tv and watched it over and over and over)

    and

The Breakfast Club (My favorite line, "What if your dope was on fire?"
"Impossible sir, it's in Johnson's underwear.")
