THE UNFINISHED WORK OF ELIZABETH D. by Nichole Bernier

Congrats to:
absolutahnie
Please email me your full name and address so you can get your book!
stephanieelliot@gmail.com

Here's today's book but first I'd like to let you know that I announced a bunch of winners last night on posts so you should go back to see if your name has been chosen. ALSO IMPORTANT: The original winner for I Couldn't Love You More won that book on another blog so I chose another winner -- please GO BACK to that page to see if you won it as I had to choose another name! It could be you! Thanks, and here's to another great week coming your way with awesome books, starting with this fabulous debut by Nichole Bernier!

This is one of those books that I hunted down myself. I saw it on FB or somewhere on another author’s page and I knew I had to get my hands on it so I contacted the author’s publicist and asked for it. The whole mystery of the story caught my eye; the fact that the main character is already gone and her best friend has to put pieces of the mystery together by reading her journals, and the fact that it’s actually two stories in one. I just love journal stories! And I wanted this book!

You’ll want it too!

Read the first chapter here: EXCERPT.

You can also read a beautiful guest post by Nichole at Writer Unboxed here, and if you get over there in time, you can also enter to win a copy there, but you have to do so by Tuesday!

Blurb:

Summer island vacation with her family was supposed to be a restorative time for Kate, who’d lost her close friend Elizabeth in a plane crash. But when she inherits a trunk of Elizabeth's journals, they reveal a woman far different than the cheerful wife and mother Kate thought she knew. The complicated portrait of Elizabeth — her upbringing, her marriage, and journey to motherhood — makes Kate question not just their friendship, but her own deepest beliefs about loyalty and honesty at a moment of uncertainty in her own marriage. When an unfamiliar man’s name appears in the pages, Kate realizes the extent of what she didn’t know about her friend — including where she was really going when she died.

Set in the anxious summer after the September 11th attacks, this story of two women —their friendship, their marriages, private ambitions and fears — considers the aspects of ourselves we show and those we conceal, and the repercussions of our choices.

If you want to win The Unfinished Work of Elizabeth D. tell me something you’re in the process of finishing right now. Or something you started but never finished. I would like to finish writing my fourth novel.

DON'T FORGET TO ENTER TO WIN ANY OF THE PREVIOUS BOOKS THAT DO NOT HAVE A HIGHLIGHTED WINNER'S NAME ANNOUNCED ON TOP OF THE POST! Feel free to go back and check - yesterday's book was posted late!

***More interesting stuff I included in here just to make things fun - you should read this info...***

  8. Thing is...I have lots of great ideas for crafts and things, and I even go out and buy the supplies, and then I never actually do them. Currently I have all the stuff to do my own "screen printing" on shirts, but have yet to do one. So hopefully I will find the time to actually try it!

  15. I am a teacher and due to the budget issues I'm not certain of returning to my job next year, so I now have all of my personal teaching stuff in the basement. I unloaded it into one big pile of boxes that takes up half of the basement. I really need to organize and get it into some sort of order, but that sounds like too much work and not enough fun! :)

  68. I just started working on a personal blog to put some of my writing up on. I have a novel I've been working on...err well collecting dust on, but I need to write. I started my review blog to have something to write and that has become the only writing I seem to do--so I'm pressing myself to do my own writing too, which is hard cause I love reading what other people write :D Ok, so you didn't ask for a short novel so I'll stop rambling, except to say I'm dying to read this book (ok not really, but looks amazing).
