My Inner Child Came Out to Play

Went for my walk this a.m. Averaging .75 percent on the cat-calls, and about a four-mile walk daily (yesterday was FIVE!) Got home and felt like playing, so I drew this:

Here it is closer:

Close-Up:

During my creative splurge, I realized I made a mistake. Can you find what I did wrong in my Sidewalk Quilt?

It is so pretty! I love it!!

I think it is perfect, so no mistakes from me!

Thanks Swishy, but there is ONE thing wrong with it.

there's a man in there amongst the coffee beans?

Hope some other commentor catches it and psots soon. The suspense is killing me.

No really.

Honest, I'm no good at sarcasm.

Looks good to me, but don't you have a novel that needs written?

Yeah me too, but here I am perusing the blogosphere.

Dan--ha on the man in the coffee beans.

Travis--yes, I should be doing something productive like writing a novel, but that damn inner child had to play!

And you know what, I found ANOTHER thing wrong with the quilt. I can't let my inner child play without the inner art critic getting in the way!

FUN! It's beautiful...like you, I'd probably see something wrong if I were to do it. But since it's not ME that did it, let me just say it's PERFECT. ;-)

Lovely chalk quilt you made. Ya know there are artists out there who specialize in sidewalk art?

So, is your mistake that your chalk stroke all went horizontally except for one square where you went crazy and colored vertically? That's it isn't it?

MaNiC MoMMy™ said...

Rusty--now you stumped ME! Which one! You're going to give me a complex!!!

BTW, WHERE'S THAT PRESENT YOU PROMISED ME!?!?

PS--and the longer I look at the artwork, the more 'mistakes' I find.

Fun times!

No hot pink square in the last and closest row?
No yellow square in the 5th row from the top?
No turquoise in the 5th row?

XYZinn said...

There isn't a pink square in row five. Is that it? It is so pretty.

There's no white square in the third from the top row??

BTW, my friend in college had a sweater that looked almost exactly like this.

Gina--OMG, YOU GOT IT RIGHT!!! I'm so sorry I didn't offer a prize for this guessing game! I can't believe you knew what the oddity was. And going along with that theme of colors not meshing, there are two more things that, after the fact, I realized were not fend shui-ish!

How've YOU BEEN!!?!?!? I noticed you aren't blogging so much!

MaNiC MoMMy™ said...

Dawn--I want your college friend's sweater! And sorry, that's not the right answer, but good guess!

MaNiC MoMMy™ said...

Oops, and Colorado Steph--not what I was thinking of, but thanks for pointing out another faux paus! Hahah.

ALso, thanks for my cafe vanilla light frap this a.m. and the reduced fat cinnamon swirl coffee cake--YOU ROCK!!

Oh, and in case anyone else has been wondering, yes, I Have been drinking.

Is it wrong?

those two brown squares are right next to one another?

MaNiC MoMMy™ said...

Christina, yeah, but they're kinda gray, unless you are looking at the dark brown and light brown ones.

Wrong that you're drinking now or when you did the chalk art? j/k. Seriously, when you're creative, how can you say you did something wrong?!?

It is so beautiful and I couldnt find the mistake, it is 7am and that is my excuse and I am sticking to it! But I am soooo glad someone did figure it out or the suspense might just of killed me stone dead...

My high school boyfriend had that sweater too. Very preppy. The kind you'd see tossed over the should in that annoying, "What, me? Biff Winkershninkle, worry?" kind of way. But he looked GREAT out of the sweater.

Manic, lovely chalk quilt. Did you trash your nails, though??? If you were squatting while coloring that's great for your glutes and will earn you more catcalls. Yippee!

More than the adjacent color squares, you did not bind the edges, fit a fringe, or do anything to prevent unravelling.

If you're going to draw quilts on the ground you should try for realism in the details.

Also, the intersection of the quilt and the pavement crack is unsettling, at least to me.

Very impressive. Looks perfect to me.

John, I love your perception!

John--the crack as in the split of where the quilt is started? I wanted to do the whole section of the sidewalk, but it was taking forever. And I did think about a 'frame' around the colors but didn't do it.

Alas, rain this weekend dissolved my beautiful work of art.

John Robison said...

You should have sprayed it with clear acrylic varnish. Then it would have been impervious to rain, but it would still be easily removed with a sand blaster.

Hi, I'm catching up on your blog. Thx for your comment (let me know if you'd like to cross-link). This quilt is AWESOME, I am going to do something like this with my nephews. Better if it's not perfect :) Beautiful!!!
