Here’s another local author I was sad to leave when I moved from the Chicago area, but I’m happy to be bringing her books to you! Maureen Lipinski and I also met on the Chick Lit Yahoo Group (Man, that group started out with some pretty amazing women who are now some MAJOR successful authors!). She and I hit it off when we discovered our first books had something in common, strangely enough, A LOT in common, but alas, hers found its way to the bookshelves while my first attempt remains where it must – the drawer!

Maureen is the author of A Bump in the Road and the sequel Not Ready for Mom Jeans and here’s my Amazon review of Bump I wrote a long while ago:

A perfect read for moms and moms-to-be. You'll laugh at the antics of Clare Finnegan, internet star, who discovers she's pregnant after a romp in Vegas. In this case, what happens in Vegas DOESN'T stay in Vegas, and Clare and Jake go from "happy hour to baby shower!"

As Clare grows her baby, fondly calling him Mr. Skeletor, she also deals with her feuding best friends, coworkers that'll make anyone cringe, a stressful job that requires a lot of "ABSOLUTELYs", and watching other people get drunk.

If you like chick lit, are thinking about being pregnant, have no desire to be pregnant, have been pregnant, and remember what it's like to be pregnant, and can still LAUGH at the memories, you'll LOVE this book.
And the sequel, Not Ready for Mom Jeans (why the HELL do Mom Jeans even exist anyway?), and sidenote, last time Maureen and I went out, before I moved from Chicago, I was SOOO nervous she was going to think my jeans were MOM JEANS! …

Event planner and famous blogger Clare Finnegan expected to go back to work after her daughter was born. After all, she worked hard for her success...and it's not like now that she has a child, she has to buy a minivan, wear Mom Jeans and give up her career, right?

Despite more than a few pounds of baby weight still left to lose, Clare dons her Miss Piggy Pants and returns to work. She plans a swanky Sweet Sixteen party and pulls off a million-dollar golf outing, has to come to terms with her mother's breast cancer, and is left so exhausted that she can’t remember her ATM card’s pin number. After another meeting runs late and she misses another one of her daughter’s milestones, Clare allows herself to examine an alternate choice: staying home.

A laugh out loud novel about motherhood, life, and the quest for eight hours of sleep.

So there ya have it! Whether you’re a mom, thinking about becoming a mom, a woman, a grandma, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, a daughter, whatever, you’re gonna love Maureen’s books!

And she’s got more coming your way too! She’s got a Young Adult coming out called Shadow’s Edge, which is the story of sixteen-year-old Leah Spencer, an unwilling Otherworld shaman (I don’t know what a shaman is either!?—Maureen??) with three sisters (each with their own magical "gift") who must choose between normal high school and "getting all CSI" on an Otherworld murder spree.
