I want to know how you got your kids to be in the same room as you while you did it. My husband and kids are afraid of it. i love it! Doesn't it totally help?! I even got the sinus rinse, which is faster. (It's the bottle form of the neti-pot and just works faster).
Isn't that the coolest? We live by the squeeze bottle here at my house! Much easier--just squeeze it and a jet goes up. I'm too clumsy for the pot. I do it in the shower. It's gross, but necessary here in the swamp. I shower twice a day because of my allergies and with the saline rinse I'm doing okay without antihistamines for a while. Pretty cool. Pot or squeeze bottle, that stuff works!
We use saline sprays when the girls have a cold, by the way. If you use any nasal product make CERTAIN there is no preservative called Thimerosal in it (same for eye products.) That's mercury, friends. Ick.
OK, so it's not as gross as everyone thinks it is. ANd the first time I tried it, I called up the WHOLE family to watch the demo. It feels like when you're a little kid diving into the deep end of the pool and you do get water up your nose, but it's not painful.
I also like to call it a douche for your sinuses. Cleans ya out!
WOW!... Am I wierd that I think this is cool and not so gross?... Perhaps because my allergies are killing me right now and my over the counter med's are doing NOTHING to help!!!... Neti-Pot.. I'm off to google it now. I want one! and thanks to your demo... I'll know how to use it!
Does not hurt at all. I'm getting better at it. Like now I know that when the water is flowing out, I should flare my nostrils a bit to let it come out faster. It really is like an irrigation system and clears up the head. I have sinusitus (spelling?) and have always suffered from headaches when the weather is rainy/bad, so we'll see if this alleviates it this year, and the allergy stuff.
It's got to be better than taking pills, and we all know I am somewhat of a pill-advocate!
One thing that's strange is sometimes I can feel it filling in my ears, but I've always had some minor ear problems, and sometimes, and this is gonna sound really strange, it feels like my eyes are getting filled up too, but maybe that's just cuz of the saline powder that gets mixed into the tap water!
go to any pharmacy and purchase a product called Neil Med, it works just like a netti pot, but is a squeagy bottle, so you are actually pushing the saline solution through your sinusus. It also comes with the salt packets, you do not want to just use regular table salt. Use distilled water and add the saline packet and heat in the microwave for about 25 seconds. Voila, your sinusus are cleared.

That is just crazy! and funny!
I tried that a few times, but it always made me feel like I was drowning. Maybe that's just me?
I have that same neti pot. It's great for those of us who suffer with allergies.
A few months ago, my sister used her neti pot and ground beef came out of her nose. Gross!
Yeah, I'm not having tacos anytime soon, either. Heh.
No way am I clicking on that demonstration. But thanks! :)

Neti pots are a great way to clear out your sinuses without a ton of meds. Look at Manic all holistic like! :)

Whoa, don't use that in front of Mr. Manic or he's going to want to "knock one off" all over the place. Sexy!
G.R.O.S.S.
I've heard about them (yep, my yoga instructor is also a fan) but never quite tried it. And I have a feeling I won't be doing that anytime soon! :)

Oh and yeah, you can totally get this at GNC -- it's called SINUCLEANSE for like $14!
All I'm saying is please please please don't EVER install a bidet at your house!
