Book: The One That I Want
Author: Allison Winn Scotch
Blog: Ask Allison
What if you woke up one day to all your dreams coming true...but those dreams were more like nightmares?
I love the story about how Allison and I first connected online. Not only is she a New York Times Bestselling author, she is also a very successful freelance magazine writer. She had put out a query for an article she was writing about marriage, something about keeping it fresh, and I answered her questions and she followed up with me and my quotes got in the magazine. At that time, her first book, The Department of Lost and Found, wasn’t out yet, and I didn’t know she was going to be a super-star author.
A while later, I discovered the book, and her name rang a bell. I was like, “WHOA! I know that chick!” Not that Allison’s a chick, well, she is, but she’s classy, and all that … well, you get the drill.
So, I probably contacted her, chatted her up online until she could stand me no more, and here we are, ready to give away her third book! Allison also has an exciting fourth book coming out early 2012, called, The Song Remains the Same! Sneak Peek HERE!
And for all you writers out there, don't forget to check out Allison's blog, Ask Allison, where she is always available to answer your writing questions! It's a great blog, very helpful and inspiring!
Here’s her latest, and "The One That You Want Today." Hahah. It’s called The One That I Want:
Tilly Farmer is thirty-two years old and has the perfect life she always dreamed of: married to her high school sweetheart, working as a school guidance counselor, trying for a baby. Perfect.
But one sweltering afternoon at the local fair, everything changes. Tilly wanders into a fortune teller's tent and meets an old childhood friend, who offers her more than just a reading. "I'm giving you the gift of clarity," her friend says. "It's what I always thought you needed." And soon enough, Tilly starts seeing things: her alcoholic father relapsing, staggering out of a bar with his car keys in hand; her husband uprooting their happy, stable life, a packed U-Haul in their driveway. And even more disturbing, these visions start coming true. Suddenly Tilly's perfect life, so meticulously mapped out, seems to be crumbling around her. And as she furiously races to keep up with - and hopefully change - her destiny, she faces the question: Which life does she want? The one she's carefully nursed for decades, or the one she never considered possible?

Here’s my question for the comment section: Have you been to a fortune teller? Personally, I have not. I don't want to know what's going to happen in my future. But what about you? Have you gone to one? Yes, no, why, why not?

Wow, I'm first! I went to one as a joke in college. She read my palm and told me rather obvious things. I wasn't that impressed, but I secretly memorized what she said. Just in case.
I have not been to a fortune teller but I have always wanted to go. My sister and her best friend went to a store called Kindred Spirits and got their fortune told. I went to buy something there and the man behind the desk asked me what I was doing with my life. I had just graduated from college and waiting to hear back about grad school applications and he said the truth will be revealed very soon. The next day I got my acceptance letter. Probably just coincidence but still pretty cool. Logan
I have never went to a fortune teller because I don't believe anyone can know the future. Everyday unknown occurences could lead you down a different path. Sometime I wish I could know the future, but I guess it's for the best that I don't.
My senior year of high school I called into Cleo's hotline because I wanted to know what I should do about college. Suffice to say I don't think any of it has happened or was very accurate.
I don't believe in fortune tellers.
Never been to a fortune teller. For one, it's a scam. Second and most important; I want to live my life not knowing what is around the corner.
I actually have been to one. When I was a cranky adolescent girl, heading to college with out a clue what I wanted to do, my mom used all options at her disposal to try to help me "find my calling." Instead I found out more about my love life and my parents divorce. It was more informative than predicting the future, and she certainly didn't tell me what I should study! I think I'd be afraid to go now. I'd rather find out what's going to happen the old fashioned way!
I do believe that some people have the gift of prophecy. Years ago, I was sitting with a family member who had been married for years and had lost a baby after three years of marriage. They'd never gotten pregnant again - although they never used birth control. I had an overwhelming feeling that she was about to conceive. I told her so...and two months later...she was pregnant. Same thing happened to a girl at work when she got the "baby" in a King Cake. I told her that I had a feeling she had a baby on the way soon. They'd been married for ten years. Trying...no luck. I just saw that "baby" checking me out at the Winn-Dixie store (he looks just like his Dad and we go to the same church.) As for me...I have been once but don't believe that what I was told was really on the mark. Have no plans to do it again. Just want to let it roll the way it rolls. :) ktmixon315
I've had my tea leaves read. The whole experience was strange but interesting. I really didn't pay attention. Debydew110
I have not been to a fortune teller, but I think it would be fun. I'd most like to get a Tarot reading, because I read about it in a Nora Roberts book, lol.
Also, Allison is wonderful (and so is her blog)!
I've not been. I want to go but I don't want to. A part of me thinks it's all based on observances of subtle and not so subtle clues they pick up on from whoever they are "reading". But it would be kind of cool to go and see what they say.
I've been to a Tarot card reader at like a festival only because it was like 5 bucks. Not real informative. She didn't give me any life changing news.

No never been to a fortune teller. My nephew read my tarot cards for me but I felt like that was more of a joke! This book I've really wanted to read for so long!!!
I've never been to one, but a few of my friends went to one as a joke in college - It sounded pretty campy.

I never went to a fortune teller. I can see why people go see one for the fun of it, but I would never take them seriously. I think fortune tellers are just good at reading people, and make up a fortune based on her observations.
I've never been either. I believe its would be interesting to hear what they would have to say but I feel that whatever they tell you is going to happen is just what you would be looking for to occure.
Yes, I went to a palm reader a few years ago. She just made some stuff up saying that I was going to get married, have a kid and move near water in the next year. Yeah, that stuff never happened. Thank goodness b/c I like my life just the way it is.
This book has been on my Amazon wish list for awhile, so I really hope I win it!

I haven't been to a fortune teller. If I did go, it would just be as a lark, for fun. I don't really believe in them, but I can see the entertainment value!
I have actually been to quite a few psychics and mediums. I love the guidance they provide. Obviously, there are some quacks and fakes, but there are some that (I feel) are very intuitive. One I saw back when I was 24 was dead-on accurate. Scary accurate. Others are more general, but still have a few things that hit home. I'm hooked.
Jana B
No...I have not and basically because I'm scared of what they might tell me and if its something horrible I'll be worrying about it all of the time and I'll always be thinking about it and I will. be overcome with paranoia. LOL!
kathygold9778
nope. I would only be interested in seeing one if her crystal ball foretold that I would win all the give-away books!
Nope, no fortune tellers or phone-in psychics for me. I'd rather take things as they come than feel controlled by someone else's interpretation of my destiny.
I haven't been to a fortune teller. I don't believe in it, but I still think it would be fun to go to one anyway. Who knows, maybe they could make a believer out f me :)
I've never been to a fortune teller...I really don't want to know the future unless it involves me winning the Powerball.
I have never been to a fortune teller and do not ever want to. Just the thought of knowing what is going to happen is very scary to me. And I sort of mostly do not believe they have the power to see into the future...but don't want to take a chance.
I have never been to one because I'm afraid after I hear what she says I will subconsciencly start living my life in a way to make it true...maybe a little odd but I would just rather not know! Thanks!
Angelini197
Last year I paid $75 to get a phone reading from someone who came highly recommended. I had been searching for a teaching job and I think I just wanted someon to tell me everything would work out. Some of the things he had to say were very interesting but for the most part none if it came true. I would still do it again (for less money) b/c I'm fascinated.
I have never been to one, but secretly want to...but I'm a chicken! I'm afraid I might find out something that I don't want to know about my future, and then I would be all paranoid about if it will really come true or not! This sounds like a great read!
I've had my cards read a few times. It wasn't so much about predicting the future, but confirming things that I already knew but was either unwilling or not ready to admit yet. Although I realize that there are a lot of skeptics out there, I think we can find guidance in a variety of places and should at least be open to it. :) CariLynn
Ooohhhh...looks deliciously (what?!?! I'm sure it's a word) spooky. I mean, how would you like to know how many and what kinds of babies? Or how your parents really feel about you?!?!
NEVERMIND!!! I don't wanna know.
thanks for the giveaway,
Hally Hoots
This has been on my "to read" list since it came out (it's a very long list--which keeps getting longer this month!). I've never been to a fortune teller. I don't really believe it's possible. I think it's pure psychology and being good at reading peoe's body language. And then a teeny part of me is afraid I'd get the one REAL fortuneteller and it would be something both true and horrible. Ronit W
I have been to one and although I went in knowing that she might be a fraud, the stuff she told me about myself was very accurate and a few of her predictions came true. I'd like to go again.
I have never been to a fortune teller. The only ones I've ever encountered (from afar) are on the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore... I'd rather spend my money on Funnel Cakes!
Yet another GREAT author and book giveaway!... I will win one of these days! Thanks again MaNiC!
Christine
I've been to one but I don't remember a thing she said! I do believe some people out there have the gift of seeing the future, but I don't think they'd open a shop or work at a carnival. lol
I've never been to a fortune teller, and I doubt that I ever will. I'm too afraid of learning something life-shattering that I will obsess over.
No, I haven't been to a fortune teller before. I don't know why I haven't. I just haven't had the opportunity yet. I do want to go to one soon though. I don't really believe in them but it would be fun to go.
Thanks!
-Jessica
i have been many, many times just for the fun of it. my friend used to live across the street from a psychic/tarot reader who would often have loud arguments with her husband. one night my friend had to call the police because the fight was TERRIBLE! the police arrived to break up the (on-going) fight...i wanted to know why, if miss athena was psychic, she didn't know they were coming! = )
I went to a fortune teller when in New Orleans. Some things she said were obvious - "Honey, you should wear your glasses" Well, duh, I was squinting at your sign. "Your kids are like night and day" Again, duh, even twins have different personalities.
However, she did tell me "six months past or six months forward, you will meet your soul mate and you will have a long and happy life. Your previous relationship was difficult and ended badly, but this time around will be for the long haul." Most relationships end badly, but my marriage had recently ended REALLY badly and six months to the day I reconnected with my ex-boyfriend who is now my fiancé.
Never been to a fortune teller and never want to....I don't want to know my future (or at least think I will know my future based on what a stranger tells me). I know myself to well...I'd be freaked out or expect something that may never come true.
michelle jagow
No, I've never been. Mostly because I don't believe in fate or destiny or whatever else you want to call it. No one can predict the future, because it's constantly changing with every choice you make.
Never been - I'm too much of a control freak to believe that my future is pre-determined!
I've never been and I really don't think I want to. I'd rather be surprised by the things that happen to me in life and live for the moment.
NicoleMG from CT
I've never been to a fortune teller, but I'm secretly curious as to what one might say. But I know in my heart of hearts that no one out there really knows what my future holds. And quite frankly I don't think I would want to know....I'm such a worry wart! lol!
Crystal717
I've never been to a fortune teller, but I've secretly wanted to. I just don't know if I can waste money on it. One of my friend's aunts used to live by it, but I don't know if I really buy it.
qweska8402
I think there really is ESP but I don't think you can just have it whenever a person comes to get their future told. I think the fortune tellers are quacks and will never go to one.
Thanks for the great book giveaways!
-Donna W.
I've never been to a fortune teller... And don't think I ever will go to one. What if they tell me something I don't want to hear?
I went with a friend and we had our tarot cards read separately...the fortune teller cautioned each of us not to discuss what was foretold, and I think it was just because she basically told us both similar "fortunes!"
I want you to seriously know I want all these books :) Otherwise I'm going to be spending a ton of money buying them! Ok the question.
I didn't go to one, but I did call one. Ya know back in the days of tv psychics, rofl. I made the call. Just wanted to see what they'd say. She told me she saw two military guys in my future. I'd chose one and she saw a baby girl down the road. Well. A few weeks later an old boyfriend showed up and he was joining the service. Told me he wanted to get back together. I ended up not going back out with him, but started dating my husband. Not military bound. Then after six months of marriage he joined the service and we had a baby girl a few years later, then a boy and another girl :) I still don't really buy it, but who knows.

I have never been...and don't know if I ever will go. Really, its just that I kinda like it that life is a surprise :O) Although, it sure would be fun to learn if I will win the lottery someday. Hahahah!!
I've never been to one, but I think it would be fun to go. My Dad has told me that my great grandmother could tell fortunes with a deck of playing cards. I wish she could have done it for me!
I never have, but I think it'd be fun. I'd take it with a grain of salt, though
I went to a palm reader in Los Angeles about 10-12 years ago. I don't remember anything that she told me! I just remember her house was really creepy and it didn't feel legitimate. I wish I could remember, just to see if anything came true. Two friends also got their palms read and they don't remember either.
holly w
I have never been to a fortune teller, but my aunt and my sister-in-law have both read tarot cards with me. I don't really remember anything earth shattering with it. I don't really believe that stuff. Melissa Rem
I have never been to a fortune teller. I think it would be kind of scary, the whole "self-fulfilling prophecy" and all. But Allison Winn Scotch is not scary---I loved her book Time of My Life and would love to win this new one!
CherylB
Have not gone to fortune teller. Don't want to know if something bad is going to happen!
I really want this book, tho.
Iambtinrb
I have never been... always curious what one might say, but not enough nerve to really want to know.
xx (fingers crossed)
~Nattygirrl
I have never been to a fortune teller - never had the opportunity and I'm not sure I want to know what's going to happen. I think I'd prefer to be surprised.
I have not been to one - the thought of knowing the future, or making decisions based on something I was told, is too stressful and would take the spontaneity out of life.
JillMitch
I haven't been to one, but if I did go, I would have a list of specifics I want answered.
I have been to a fortune teller. It was a fascinating experience! My husband, son and daughter, and I went to The Rennaissance Festival in our area one July day. While were walking and enjoying the costumes and old world games and food, we saw a fortune teller booth. I looked at my husband with a questioning expression, he smiled and escorted us over to the psychic. To shorten a long story, she told us out marriage had a strong foundation and that we would be happy for a long time except for one upcoming sad event. She said that within a few weeks, someone very close to us would would die. She almost cried as she said it. We dismissed it and told the kids not to worry about. Five weeks later, my mother-in-law had gone into a diabetic coma and within a few days had died! We thought back on our psychic experience and were shocked! I have gone to thers since then and have had the experience of part of the fortune coming true. Coincidence? I don't want to figure it out, just enjoy the experience.
I went to a psychic years ago and wrote down everything she said.
I occasionally review my notes and to date everything has happened except the 3 marriages. Thank God!!!! One was more than enough.
But, the idea of being on the back of a motorcycle with a blue collar man is intriging.
I have been and was actually pretty surprised at how accurate some of the things she said were. Can't say that any of the things she said about the future have really come true. But, it was interesting!
I've never been to a fortune teller because I am WAY too much of a wuss, and I would be too afraid that I would find out some piece of information that would freak me out...in other words, I don't want to be told: you'll end up alone and dying at age 60, or something...
A friend and I went once in high school... I don't remember a thing that she said.
kndyer
I have not. I don't really want to believe it is possible to know the future...but just in case it is, I don't want to ruin the surprise! Jenni(fur) N.
Never been to a fortune teller. My friends and I did have our palms read by an electronic palm reader machine at the fair once.
I think having my fortune read would have me paranoid!
Jen Rabenstine
I went to a fortune teller when I was in high school and she told me that the guy I was crushing on was not the one I was going to be with. (Duh!)
I haven't been since because of two reasons. One, chances are good that they are fake. Two, on the off chance that they are real, I don't want to know.
Carly Haynes
I haven't because I really don't believe anyone can "know" my future.
I've never been to a fortune teller myself. At a conference, however, I watched as a friend went to one. It was interesting.
I love her work!!!! As for a fortune teller ... Never been to one and won't, I am kinda cheap and would rather spend the money on a book or a toy for my puppy.
I went to a party and a palm reader was hired to read 'us'. It was kinda cool but she told me I would have three boys and one would be sickly. I have one child, a daughter, who has type 1 diabetes. Go figure..
Aaammmaaannndddaaa
LOL I've never been to a real fortune teller. But every year @ Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA they have Halloween Haunt & they bring fortune teller tents. I've been to those, but I'd actually love to go to a real one & hear what they have to say.
I haven't been... but I'd love to go! I'm not sure I believe in it, but it would be fun!
Yes, I went to a fortune teller in Salem, MA at Halloween. I thought it would be fun. I didn’t believe anything she said and nothing she said ever came true! I have heard of other people thought that have had amazing experiences and the psychic was right on about a lot of things.
The lady at the nail salon read the lines on my palm. Not many of her predicitons have come true, only a few. jennyfromthecube
I've been to psychics in the past. Some of them are good, some are too vague. Overall they're fun to go to if you take what they say with a grain of salt. None of them told me anything life-altering.
I did take a palm reading class, and the teacher read my palms and kept telling me, "Don't make any big purchases." At the time I was close to buying a condo. A couple weeks later I lost my job.
Dani Patarazzi
I have no interest in fortune tellers. Jill Fay
I haev never been to one because I don't want to know of anything bad that's going to happen to me and I'd prefer that the good stuff be a surprise :) In this case I think ignorance is truely bliss
I've been twice to have my tarot cards read. Both of them were dead on accurate. I love stuff like that.
Kristi Marie W.
I always kind of wanted to go to a fortune teller, but never did because I was always scared I would find out something terrible. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago so now that something terrible has actually happened, I'm actually more open to the idea. I just haven't gotten around to it!
Belief aside - I wouldn't go to a fortune teller...I don't want to know what is going to happen - too much stress in knowing. I'm an "over thinker" so it would be mere torture for me!
~Marla Worley
Nope, don't believe them.
Ally N
I have never been to a fortune teller... I do think some people are intuitive, but at this point, I don't really want to know :) Let it be and all that.
I have never been to a psychic. I figure only two things can occur: they will be legit and completely creep me out or they will obviously be a fake and disappoint me. Either way it doesn't really appeal to me :).
I've never been to a fortune teller. I don't really believe that anyone can forecast your future.
I never have, but I've always wanted to just for fun!
I have been to one. It was for a bachelorette party and the psychic was so off on her reading.
Nope, never! Even though I don't think it's real...I couldn't help but think "omg omg omg..._____ is going to happen in 2 months". I have enough anxiety as it is!
I've never been to one, mostly because I don't really believe in them. However, even if I could, I'm not sure I'd want to know the future. I'd be far too afraid to learn something bad was coming and then I'd spent the rest of my life stressing about it.
Never been to a fortune teller and wouldn't want to go to one. I believe everything happens for a reason and we are exactly where we are supposed to be at any given moment...
I've never been to one, but it sure would be interesting if it came true!-Felicia Dellis
No, I've never been to one. I don't think I believe someone can tell my future.
I went to one in college for fun. It was all so vague that possibly some of it actually happened.
Martinacats - Yes, I went to a woman years ago who was supposed to be able to make predictions, but nothing came of it - very generic. I went with a group and would never go on my own!
martinacats@embarqmail.com
I went once (in high school) she kept referring to my sister. I was confused, I don't have a sister. A couple of years later what do I learn.... I do have a sister 10 years older than me. We found each other 10 years ago this week, I feel so very lucky to have found her and have her in my life. Definately in the top 3 of my life so far tied with hubby and kids.
I had my handwriting analyzed on the Ocean City NJ boardwalk. I assumed it would be hokey and it was! I was with 2 friends and I made one stay outside. I had mine done and I was to meet someone with the first or last name beginning with the letter Z. then came the 'for another dollar i can tell you more' ! forget it! rip off! so my other friend goes in for hers and the woman doesn't know we are together. wow, amazing she is also to meet someone with the letter Z! really? how fake is that? at least go w J! John, Jim....we certainly didn't wait for Zeke to show up. LOL
No...I have never been to a fortune teller and I keep going back and forth on whether I should. I tell myself, it's not always good news and I don't think I want to live my life waiting for the bad stuff to happen when they tell me what that may be. Brenda L B
Nope no fortunes here. I just don't want to know....Not at all interested in the future...it could just mess up the NOW!
looks like a great book.
Corey
I have never been. Afraid they might tell me something bad!
I have never been to a fortune teller, I have never believed in that stuff.
I've never been to one...the whole idea of "knowing things" freaks me out. We aren't supposed to know, right?!? LOL!! Anyway, thanks again for the book contest. So fun!! Nanette N.
I went to one because my friend wanted to go. We took my brother and because he didn't believe in what she was going to do she made him stand outside so he couldn't hear what she was telling us. I don't really remember what she told us though, although she did say I was going to get married. Haven't yet, though! :)
I have not been to a fortune teller. Never really wanted to go. I don't want to "know" what my future hold, because I might try to make it come true. I really don't believe in them, but the power of suggestion could change the anticipated outcome.
never been - i'd rather not know the future... let it be a surprise!
my fortune teller told me that i would not be getting a divorce in my future, but that i would be getting married again...makes me very sad, so i do not give it much credit
For my birthday one year, my friends took me to see one. She described my future husband at the time to a T, she said I would be pregnant with a boy very soon after getting married(became pregnant on our honeymoon with twin boys) & she said I would have a girl, but she would take her time coming-she was my 4th child. It was a fun experience!
I have NOT been to a fortune teller, but I probably would. Not sure how much I believe in it, but I would love to know the future
Anne Beth
I have never been to one.
Nicole
I've never been to a fortune teller. I think part of the fun of life is being surprised and never knowing what's next!
I have been to a fortune teller before. It was during my high school years and at a very traumatic point in my life. I don't remember what she said exactly I just know that none of was true!
I went to a palm reader 14 years ago. She told me my current relationship wouldn't last. So far we've been together for 14 years. Hopefully she was wrong.
Sarah S.
I've never been to a fortune teller mainly because I'm too cheap to justify it. I think it would be interesting but I would definitely take it all with a grain of salt.
Kristi Hooke
I have never been to a fortune teller because I really don't want the pressure of thinking that something could or could not happen to me - I just go with what I have been given and live my life to the best of my ability
Definitely not. I like knowing the ending to movies and books, but I don't necessarily need to know how my life will play out. I think I can wait! :)
Once my crazy sister in law read my cards and palm and she has not been right about anything! I would never have paid for it...
I have not, but I'd like to go. I probably wouldn't take it too seriously though.
I had my fortune read once via tarot cards. It was free so I gave it a shot. I am still waiting to see how right it was. :-) I don't think I'd actually pay to have it done. Lauren Royall
No. I never wanted to spend the money on it. I feel that life will happen either way. I don't want someone to ruin the end for me (and I never read the end of a book first).
I have not been. I vacillate between believing and not is one reason. Also, can't think of parting with money for a reading when I could spend it out eating ;)

I have never been to one, but I have the idea of going in my head for some time now and once in a while I have moments when I really want to give it a go.
i had my palm read once, but it was at an amusement park for fun only. I have however called the psychic network lol. it was after a break up and i was desperate for answers. everything she told me was for the most part true but till this day i cant believe i did it.

I've never been to a fortune teller...just not interested.
nope... never gone don't want to... too creepy. Unless you count the one on the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland!
no...don't believe in them. i do always read the horoscopes, though.

Have not been, but have thought about it. It kind if creeps me out. TaraUB in IN
I haven't because I don't really believe in it but I've always wanted to just to see what they'd tell me.
Have not been to a fortune teller. Maybe one day!

I have never been to a fortune teller. My life has turned out nothing like I expected. I can't wait to find out what happens next...when it supposed too.
I have never been to one before. I'm curious but kinda scared at the same time. I want to see the future but I'm terrified to see the future. I personally don't believe it in but I have a feeling I would start to if I got one. Plus I feel if you get your fortune told you kinda change your life to make what they said come true even if you don't mean to.
I did while I was still in high school. Apparently by now, I'm supposed to be married (am not) have three kids (I have 0), living on the west coast (not) and I'm a teacher (librarian, so close). It was a lot of fun though.
I haven't been to a fortune teller. My best friend and I bought a ouiji board once when we were about 11, but after we tried it once and it did nothing, we took it back and bought some Tiger Beat magazines!!!
I have never been to a fortune teller but would love to go to one. I just need to find the right one!

I've never been to a fortune teller. I don't really believe in fortune telling, and also, I think it'd take the fun out of life to know stuff in advance!
Each of us has the power to create our own future and our own destiny, and every tiny decision we make at any point during any day can change our lives drastically - how can someone predict that?? I wouldn't want them to...it would take the power of my own life away from me!!

I went to a meditation group lead by some buddist man only because it gave extra credit for my massage therapy school. Well, I thought this would just be an evening of quiet time but halfway through he starts calling people up front and telling them things about themselves. Well, he called me up and just touched my back and head. The whole group of 50 sat and watched the little old Indian guy meditate for 5 whole minutes- no words, and then I sat down. Weird huh? One week later I was in a horrible accident with a brain injury- hhhmmmmmm....
Not yet, but I'd like to go! Although it sounds like this book might change my mind...
Nope... guess I am not a believer
No I have no been to a fortune teller. I am too cheap!
Pennygirl, Mtwc
Not sure whether I believed or not, I went to one in Vegas with a few friends who wanted to do it. I do have to say, she pinpointed a lot of stuff about my life that was dead on! I'm not going to say I'm now a believer, but if she didn't have some kind of insight, then she sure was lucky with her guesses!

I have never been to a fortune teller. I'm not sure if it's that I'm afraid of what I'll hear or that I don't think they will know. While some people may very well predict the future, there will always be a scammer in the mix. I like to fly by the seat of my pants, so I'll leave my future a mystery to figure out.
I have never been to a fortune teller but it's not because I haven't wanted to. It's just every time I walk by one I find myself trying to justify the cost of finding out my future. Do I really want to know, or will I find myself trying to fulfill what the fortune teller says, or will I be skeptical of what the fortune teller says about my future/fortune? I do want to know but at the same time I don't want to be boxed in by knowing. A conundrum for sure.
Love Allison's books!
I have not been to a fortune teller. I just don't think they're worth the money. I'm sure it could be fun but it's just not my thing.
N0 I am too scared!! Life is going to be what it is going to be and I don't want to waste a minute wishing it was different. Patti Cole
Never been to one and I don't think I ever could...too creepy for me!
Never been. I've always wanted to, but deep down I really don't know what they will say (true or false).
Amy Nichole G.
we had a psychic come to a bachelorette party. it was awesome! she said i was going to marry the guy i'm with and said "sorry!" i took lots of notes. i'm pretty sure she's right about a lot of stuff so far.
No I have not been to a fortune teller. Why? I really do not want to know the future. I like the unknown, guess that's why I love science. LOL Plus I think if we are told what will happen we will make it happen and then miss out on what could of been
Never been to a fortune teller and have no desire to. I don't believe in it and I fear I would hear something that would leave me guessing or questioning.

The idea of going to a fortune teller is intriguing, but even if I believed, I'd rather have it all unfold on its own. :-)
Never been, but a friend of a co-worker looked at my bulging belly with baby #1 and said "it's a boy"(we did not pre-find out) then said, and you will have another boy...2 kids, 2 boys - she was right. LeslieGC
I have not, I don't want to hear something bad!
I've been to a medium a couple times...not sure if that counts as a "psychic." I have such a fascination for the spiritual realm and what happens after we leave this Earth so I loved it. If I had a referral to a psychic, I'd check it out. I wouldn't believe just anyone!
I haven't been to a fortune teller because I just don't want to know what's coming up. I prefer the surprise. But I have been with two different friends who have gone. Kinda creepy but fun too.
I've never been to a fortune-teller myself, because like you, I'm not interested in knowing my future - just living it to the best of my ability.
But when I was younger, my mother apparently took me to a fortune-tellers who told her that I would have a successful marriage because I'll have a very loving husband, but troubling in-laws (ruh-roh!), and that my death might occur in a big body of water, such as an ocean or the sea; since then my parents usually freak out when I try going to the beach! lol :P

Never been to one. Don't need anything else to worry about.
I have never been to a fortune teller and will never go. Not only do I not want to know the future I believe we AREN'T supposed to know the future!
Croppergirl
I went to one while at a festival in college. She actually said a few very accurate things that she couldn't have known...unless she was an extremely good guesser. Most of it was very general, though, and I can't remember if any of it came true.
I have not been to a fortune teller, but would- just to see what is foretold about my future. Hindsight is great, but knowing what's to come could be useful too. I think it's all in how you interpret it.

I've never gone but I always have wondered what she would say...

I have never been to a fortune teller and I am not really sure if I would go if I had the chance. Sometimes though, when things are in turmoil in my life or in someone's close to me, I wish I could see maybe 5 years into the future to see if everything turns out for the good. But if it didn't, would I really want to know that now? So there, I think, is my quandary - I would want to hear only the good news and not the bad.
I am excited to read this book - it has been on my list for a long time!

I've never been to a fortune teller. I think I'd be too afraid that she'd tell me something horrible that I don't want to hear and I'd be inclined to believe her.
I'd rather go through life making my own destiny. At least that way, I'm 100% in control and accountable for what happens (or at least how I respond).
I have never been to a fortune teller. I have always wanted to just for fun to see if what they predict actually comes true, but then I think of better things to spend my money on....like books. ;)
I am a total sucker. I went to one after my dad died--because we had a pact we'd send each other a sign and I WANTED MY SIGN. I told the fortune teller my story and she ruminated (or whatever they do) and then she told me "your dad is here and he's waving to you from the golf course." Which was all kinds of sweet EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT MY DAD HATED GOLF--and all other sports for that matter. I told her as much and left in a huff (I love leaving in huffs), but later I decided that my dad was actually there, because he was a funny SOB and loved to get me all riled up and he knew that would work. I like thinking he totally snowed her. :)
I have never been, never will. I relly on my faith, not someone who can shuffle cards or look at lines on my hands.
I've never been to a fortune teller and don't think I would ever want to. I worry enough without someone telling me that next week I'll be attacked by a rabid squirrel, or something else as ridiculous as fortune telling!
No fortune tellers for me either. It seems like a conflict of interest if you believe in God to believe in fortune tellers to me and I'm too scared to tempt that lol. But it does make me giggle a little when people are all nutso wrapped up in that sort of thing. Not that there's anything wrong with that....sorta...lol
Never been to a psychic but would go if the opportunity arose.....would love to go see a medium!
SPepper22
I've never been to a fortune teller, but I've always been curious. Maybe someday I'll go...but I'm just not sure I want to know what's coming!

no fortune teller. but growing up I pored over horoscopes, tarot cards, and palm reading. according to my hand, I'm supposed to have a boy and a girl. My husbands hand agrees. We have a girl and we're trying for number two. :)
I have had tarot card readings before and they have hit close to home. I also have several decks and used to dabble a bit with my own readings. It can be very interesting - the important thing is to be specific in what you ask. I like the tarot cards because you actually choose the cards, then the reader interprets the cards you pick out of the deck. It seems to be a bit less random than just having your palm read.
Never been to one but have seen them on TV and in movies. I don't know if I believe in that sort of thing, but it would be interesting to have my fortune told.
