Winner Announced Here
Alright all you dog lovers out there, and I know there’s plenty of you, here’s one you’ve been waiting for. Allie Larkin’s novel, Stay, is the perfect read for pet fans and book lovers alike. People magazine called it a “feel good debut!” Grab your four-legged friend and curl up with this one, it’s a winner!
Savannah “Van” Leone has loved Peter since the day they met. The problem is, Peter has loved Van’s best friend, Janie, since the moment they met. And now they’re walking down the aisle, with Van standing nearby in a Halloween orange bridesmaid dress, her smile as hollow as a jack-o-lantern. After the wedding, Van drowns her sorrows in Kool Aid-vodka cocktails and reruns of Rin-Tin-Tin, and does what any woman in her situation would do: She buys a German Shepherd over the internet.
The pocket-sized puppy Van is expecting turns out to be a clumsy, hundred-pound beast that only responds to Slovakian. Van is at the end of her rope—until she realizes that this quirky giant may be the only living being who will always be loyal to her, no matter what. And thus begins a friendship that will alter Van’s life in ways she never imagined.
Joe leads Van to Dr. Alex Brandt, a rugged vet with floppy blond hair and winning smile. But just as things are starting to heat up, the newlyweds return from their honeymoon, forcing Van to decide just how much she’s willing to sacrifice in order to have everything she ever wanted. Warm and witty, poignant and funny, Stay marks the arrival of an irresistible new voice.
Read chapter One of Stay.

Allie lives in Rochester, New York, with her husband, Jeremy, their two German Shepherds, Argo and Stella, and a three-legged cat. She is the cofounder of thegreenists.com, a site dedicated to helping readers take simple steps toward going green. Allie's essay about Stella will be in Wade Rouse's dog anthology, I'M NOT THE BIGGEST BITCH IN THIS RELATIONSHIP, due out September 6. (You can bet I'll be sharing a copy or two on MaNiC!)
To win Stay, tell me your current pet or pet’s names or a previous pet’s name. We grew up with Bullet the German shepherd, Gypsy the calico cat, Blackberry (the cat who ran away but reappeared miraculously two different Christmas days at our back stoop but ran away again), Brandy the cocker spaniel, another Bullet, some gerbils and hamsters. Then as a married adult we had some cats before children: Puck, who sadly died, then Buko, and Cyclops, who, believe it was a black one-eyed precious female kitty we adored. Now, your turn!

We currently have 2 dogs. The first I refer to as my first baby. He is a 13 year old Husky named Hawkeye, but we have always called him Buddy. He has his own scrapbook. The second is our 5 year old German Shepard named Kilo, yes is is a K9 Deputy (and yes my 5 year old goes to school and talks about his Kilo at least once a week and the dope he finds). We also have 2 nameless fish, we started out with 5 but 3 had to go away on vacation. This really sounds like a great read.

We can't have dogs at our place, but my parent's have Katie who I still consider to be partially mine. Love her to death.
The most recent pet that I had was a very large, very fluffy, and very loving golden lab named Shelby.
I have two cats named Emma and Nikkie. I also grew up with a wonderful cat named Taffy that lived to be 19.
Dani Patarazzi
We had a calico kitty named Cocoa but we are currently "petless". We hope to find a new kitten soon. :) Nanette
Ivy the pup, Toby the cat, Tiny the miniature horse, Shiny the snake, and the bunnies of which are named, Ocean, Loppy, Mace, Brownie, and Oreo.
Corey
We have a German Shorthair Pointer named Lilly Belle. Melissa Rem
My last dog was named Buddy Budweiser. When her was a puppy someone spilled their beer and he went crazy for it.
We are dog lovers...we have an 8 year old female Boxer named Razz, Magikal Razzle Dazzle is her AKC name! She is brindle and is so sweet and goofy! We had a male who we sadly lost in September, he was 12 years old. His name was Tyson, Fabulous White Gloved Tyson was his AKC name. He was a beautiful flashy fawn color. He was my "first child" and we adored him with all our hearts!
I've always had cats. Jordan, Shelby, Buttercup, Smokey and Mario are a few I've had over the years.

I have 4 cats Precious a calico almost 14, Chloe all orange 9, Penelope orange and white and with 6 digits on her front paws yesterday turned 7 and Lucky my only boy- gray/black tabby 5. And an african grey parrot- Picasso who loves the Price is Right and hates Kelly Ripa- tells her to 'shut up'!!! :) love my furry and feathered babies!!
I'm allergic to everything. So the only pet we have currently is a guinea pig. Whom I am also allergic to. But so long as I don't touch him? We're cool.
Anyways, his name is Nibbles. It was going to be Homer (since he's not the brightest crayon in the box...even for a guinea pig), but then he managed to eat the "previous channel" button off the remote in less than 3 seconds. Which was just the first of many things to be sacrificed to his incessant nibbling. The latest? Tip of my child's finger. Least he'll only try that trick once. (The child, not the guinea pig)
My current dogs are Dixie and Rebel. (Hey, I live in Alabama.) I also have a cat named Elle. Rebel was named for my school's mascot (and because our colors were black and gold...like he is). ktmixon315

Iambtinrb
We have a 1 yr old golden retriever named Busy, a gold fish named princess cutie & 2 new gerbils w/ ever changing names.
Riley is my cocker spaniel/bichon frise mix. Stay is an amazing book which I have given copies of to most of my friends. Every pet owner needs to read this book!
We have a 5 pound yorkashitz (3/4 yorkie and 1/4 shi tzu) named Skittles. I really wanted a dog, my husband did not, so, he told me if I could find a yorkashitz I could have it so, I did.
Currently I have two cats, Lincoln and Carly Simon.
I, personally, no longer have pets, but my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter has a rust colored lab. She is the most gentle dog and she watches over my granddaughter.
We've got 2 cats, Sixx & Seven.
We have a miniature dachshund named Juno!
Ally N
I currently have one dog, Sadie Sue, the cutest little dog I have ever seen. Plus my divorcing parents' dogs Dutch and Pedro.

I used to have goldfish named Ernie and Bert but other than that no other animals.
RebeccaE
Currently we have 1) Gracie, an 11 year old arthritic Golden Retriever 2) Samson, a 6 pound Yorkshire Terrier (that torments the Golden) 3) Baxter, a 5 pound Yorkshire Terrier and 4)Shea and 5)Wrigley, my son's dogs who we adopted when he moved to a non pet friendly apt. Shea is a dauchshund and Wrigs is a long haired chihuahua.
We have two dogs. Puppy is a fox terrier. Her "real" name is Stella, but we got her when my daughter was three and she couldn't remember her name so she just called her Puppy all the time. It stuck. Our other dog is Lenny, a lab/show mix. He was hit by a truck a few years back and lost a back leg, but he gets around just fine. Then we have three cats: Dragon, Mustard, and Zebulon. Mustard is named after a character in a story my dad told us when we were kids, and Zebulon is a name that we found used a lot in my husband's family history.
Can I pass on this giveaway but still use this entry towards the big prize? I already own and have read Stay. I loved it so much, I would like another person to have the opportunity to read it :)
I had a fish name goldie when i was growing up
Current pets:
2 cats: Anne Shirley (from Green Gables, of course!) and Sarah
1 HUGE rabbit: BabyCat (funny story, lol)
3 hermit crabs: Columbus, LittleBit and Buddy
:o)
Used to have a HUGE Lab named Benji...It broke my heart when he died, and I haven't had a dog since. (But am getting close to that point again, methinks!)
I loved this book - perfect when you've got the blahs and need a some tlc with a great book whose protagonist feels like a friend.
I already own this book so please skip this entry but include it in the Mac Daddy prize entry. :-)
We have a 14 yr old cat named Fidget and a 3 yr old Yorkie named Buddy. He's our mid life crisis. We got him instead of having a baby. He's spoiled rotten and we are his slaves.
Kristi Marie W.
We have no pets. DS#2 and I are allergic. DS#1 did have a beta named Skye for a while. I used to want cats (one grey and one black) that I was going to name Flotsam and Jetsom after the eels from The Little Mermaid. Ronit W
Rusty was my childhood dog...Buster was our first "kid" and the perfect dog...and Buddy is our semi dysfunctional mutt of a dog that we have now (and adore completely).
We have Lunatic. We adopted her from the Humane Society. When we adopted her, her given name was Luna, but after getting to know her personality, we found Luna was acutally just short for Lunatic. jennyfromthecube
Since I met my husband, we've always had Chow Chows. He had Bear, aptly named at 90 lbs and tons of red fur. After Bear passed, and as a late wedding presenr to me, we got Summer, both for the season and the color of her fur. To keep her company, we got Cinder, a black furball of energy. And once we realized Summer was sick, we got Bettis, a smaller version of Bear, and who lives up to his football namesake.
My family's dog is Lexi, a crazy Boxer. She has some jealousy issues with me- she lived in my room at first but then I claimed it back! Ours is a love hate relationship!
Bailey, Libby, Shane and Zack.
When I was growing up, we had two parakeets named Bluie and Charlie.
mtakala1 AT yahoo DOT com
We have a little chihuahua named, Billy. He will be 2 on April 15. He is so sweet and goes just about everywhere with us.
My children's names (4legged) are Lady Abigail and Jezebel. We just lost our son Sir Riley K ( all Maltese). My dog while growing up was Nexto- a crazy adorable chocolate Lab.
Wendi fr Louisiana
Murph! The best cat in the world...all 30 pounds of him. All gray and gorgeous, noisy and funny.
Pets are the best. they are truly our best friend, comfort, and relaxation. God Bless them all.
We have 3 dogs...Dora, a chocolate lab/pit bull or boxer mix, she's 8 and aging. Lola, a black lab and border collie mix, she's brilliant. And our baby, Bella, a vizlas and Australian shepherd mix who is 6 months old and behaves badly!
Before we had kids we had 2 jack russell terriers named Bo and Luke. They were wild but fun. We gave them away when I was pregnant because we were afraid they may eat our children (a rational fear considering the dogs)
Clynnc
Casey and Bailey! mutts from the animal shelter... best dogs ever.
No pets of my own but my parents have two family pets - Shih Tzus Ozzy and Brownie. Both heartbreakingly cute and cuddly.
I currently have 2 dogs and a cat. Spaz is a 4 year old pit bull mix and lives up to her name very well. I have my prissy girl, Missy. She's an English Setter Spaniel, and is very skittish; she was abused and it took her forever to warm up to everyone. Then there is my "pissy pussy" (as my friends call her), Josie. She's kind of mean, but loves to cuddle. Weird, I know.
I won't go into my list of previous animals. Can't wait to pick this one up if I don't win it here.
My current pet is a 100+ pound half chow / half rottweiler. Her name is Buddy (yes, Buddy is a she...my ex-husband did that.) I call her Doodles (Buddy Badoodles). Buddy is over 13 years old and currently is living with my in-laws. I miss seeing her on a daily basis, she's the best dog ever!

Chipper, a beagle was my first pet. Then Koko a calico cat. When they died, we got Calvin and Hobbes, 2 cats, and Tino a dachshund.
Milton and KitKat -- the cats!
My husband and I have have a sweet two year old boy, but our first child... is a furry one! :) We have a 4 year old American Bulldog, Lennox! :) Our son wanted a pet of his own... so we also have two hermit crabs named by him, Pete and Hank. Our son is an animal lover so we also have outdoor "pets" we feed the local birds and squirrels! :)

Currently, my husband and I have a 7 year old Yorkshire terrier named Bosley who is our first child pretty much. However I'm staying at my parents house and indoors they have another Yorkie named Bruiser and a new Belgian Malinois named Trooper. Outside we also have a Corgi named Molly and a Chocolate Lab named Jake. It's been a zoo around here lately!
We don't have a dog....yet! I would love to have golden retriever!! My daughter has a cat named Lucky.
Herman and Oliver are my two current cuddle buddies :)
In the past we've also had: Frisbee, Mackenzie, Natasha, Chevy, Linus, Sir, Mustang and Zenzi... plus tons and tons of fishes!
NicoleMG from CT
I'm more of a cat person. Growing up I had a calico named Dummy which I loved. Just after I married I had a cat named Gwyn who thought she was human. Then I had 2 cats: Puss and Boots. Now my husband says no more indoor pets so I have a dog named Sophie.
I have a dog named Pancake. He is amazing. I rescued him from a Sanctuary in Mexico when I graduated from college in San Diego. He is my running partner, my cuddle buddy, and the best face to see after a long day.
-I love your contest, I wish I'd been able to post everyday, so that I'd have better odds at the end of the month. *fingers crossed*
Petey was our family Bichon Frise, and it just about broke our hearts when he passed (Jacque Pierre was his AKC name). I rescued Miss June Carter Cash last year, the sweetest Jack Russell you will ever meet! She thinks she is quite the huntress, and keeps the neighborhood squirrels and rabbits on the run!!
Now have charlie the pup, and squirt and tang the fish. Have had koko the pup, cloey the pup, candy the pup, cody the pup, snickers the cat, snowball the cat, peonelope, continent, otis, gordy, and sprinkles the fish.
Bear<3 he's a mix between rottweiler and golden retriever. he's the best dog EVER.
I grew up with a cat named Oreo, who lived to be 20 years old. Then I had two lovable kitties named Moose and Go-Go. If you could imagine the Odd Couple in the form of two cats, it would have been them. Now I'm away from home and have a fish named Digby.
Right now, we only have our beloved Junebug, the cat that thinks she's a dog. We recently lost our sweet, gentle Rocky the Weimaraner. We love and miss him so much!
Zoe is my current little cat. Mimi was my first cat. And I have to mention Riley too....very loud purr.
Jana B
Fluffy the grey persian who followed me home in grade 1;
Muffin our ginger;Rinty our shepherd;Dixie our canary; Boxer our golden retriever who saved our daughter from continuing in her fear of dogs!... loving them all & their memories ~ THX!
Right now we have a cat, Hershey, who is "not-my-cat" (she's my daughter's) but my husband and I belong to her. Over my adult life, I've had 2 dogs, Dixie and Cinder, both "purebred mutts" and 2 cats, Manhattan and Pittsburgh.
First there was Smokey, a dog of some sort; next was Eva, a white parakeet that I had to get rid of because of my brothers kidney disease; I almost forgot Peanut, the box turtle that lived in our basement and ate dog food. He died and was cremated in the burning barrel; years later, I got a dog in college. Harley was a black lab mix. He left with my ex; Gilbert came into the picture 11 years ago, my first cat. Now we have him, Fritz, Moody, and Simon inside, and Ruby and Pappy our two formally feral outdoor cats that I trapped neutered and released. They are 5 and 4 respectively. I must say that I am married and The Husband is every bit the Crazy Cat Guy as I am the Crazy Cat Lady. TaraUB in IN
I'd always had cats - Sir Lancelot, Shadow, Tigger and Abner (he's still with me) but when my husband and I moved in together we got our black lab. I just got together with college friends and as they were showing off pictures of their kids, I pulled out my phone with pictures of my "baby" boy, Diablo.
My boyfriend and I are huge dog lovers. We have two which are considered our babies since we don't have kids and no plans to have any in the future. My "baby" is an 11 year old golden retriever named Simba. He's the best dog ever. And his is an 11 year old terrier mix named Gizmo, aptly named after Gizmo from the movie Gremlins :)
karikeller
We have Tuck, black lab. Growing up we had a Gypsy cat too. Along with two siblings, nosy and troublesome. The three prducts of a stray we adopted, miss kitty.... A bit of a tramp she was.
Sasse1Susan
My cat's name is Eta Carinae (we just call her Eta). She is named after a star in a constellation. We did not name her but I love it because my favorite book is "The Little Price". A line in that book is "The stars are beautiful because of a flower that cannot be seen". Eta is almost 18 years old and is starting to really show her age. I will miss her when she is gone... but when she is, the stars will be beautiful because of a cat that cannot be seen.
Thanks for the great book giveaways!
-Donna W.
I had lots of pets when I was growing up. The last pet I had was a cat named Winnie. Unfortunately, we had to find her a new home due to my son's allergies. She's now a city kitty.
I was raised with dogs. Every size and color but my children liked guinea pigs. We've had Mini Me, Bob and Bell. Sadly they aren't with us anymore but they were the best pets ever.
Debydew110
Growing up, I had a dog named Speedo. We had a very swimming-oriented family. I am absolutely obsessed with dogs. I know exactly what breeds of dogs I want to own and what I want to name them. But, apartment living isn't practical for owning multiple dogs yet.
Pete the Boxer, Barnacle the Lab mix, Lucky the goldfish, three pygmy goats (Roberta, Stevie, and Maria), and five chickens and one rooster (names TBD)
We currently have 2 furbabies. Chula, an almost 5 year old cocker spaniel, who we lovingly refer to as Bunny or Rabbit (because of her ears of course). And our second, Nova Love...the discount puppy we adopted from the Humane Society who turned out more expensive than what we originally were planning for (poor girl was really sick when we got her), who we lovingly refer to as The Beast.
Get it, Chula and the Beast? HA!
Crystal717
We have a 3 yr old Jack Russell / Border Collie mix named Riley -- I LOVE him. And I've heard great things about STAY.
Maddie and Leo are my two dogs. Ollie and Bear are my bunnies
We have 3 dogs. Lily - my sweet Golden Retriever and Golden Child, love her. Snookie - our crazy Jack Russell Terrier and Duke - our stubborn, sneaky miniature Dachshound. Together they make an intersting crew of canines.
First we had Reba, a Spaniel, then Chloe, the first of many Goldens for our family. After Chloe came Grace and Ruby (my parents dogs), then I got my own Golden, Lily, and last year we added a German Shepard, Staley to our family :O)
We currently have 2 black cats: Kodiak and CC. We adopted a white dog named Whitey. Yes, so original, I know. I wanted to call her Miss Piggy because of her cute nose, but DH kept the name she came with. We live in the south, so imagine calling your dog in from the yard... "Here Whitey!" - yep, good times.
~MommyMer
I adopted my large orange tabby 10 years ago. Officially his name is Punkin' Puss but usually we call him Big Boy. Then Boo appeared on our doorstep about 7 years ago. He is all black and showed up the day before Halloween. That plus my love for To Kill a Mockingbird led to his name. They get along nicely usually and have given us some great pictures.
We have 3 dachshunds. 2 girls (Pinky and Boo) and a boy (Chunky.) Wish I could have more, but my hubby says no!
qweska8402
When I was little, the first fish I remember (that I won at a school carnival) was named Frisky and lived for 7 years...not bad for starting out with 3rd graders throwing ping pong balls into his cup to try to win. lol. Other pets have been Layla, Baby, and Sacha.
Growing up we had Krinkles the shar pei, Penny the lab/shepherd mix, Harley the boxer, a cat named Noel, and currently a great dane english mastiff mix named Bella!
Angelini197
our dog (a greyhound) is named Greta. our male orange tabby is Flynn, and our female black cat is Moxie. my previous cat was named Riley.
No pets now. Growing up I had a dog named Jasmine and a cat named Snuggles
Jen Rabenstine

Popcorn, Princess, Reggie, Poppins, and Tasha are/were the dogs
kitty/Elliot/Peter/Ninja were the cats
We have one little white dog named Ellie. We sometimes call her Ellie belly, and mostly if it's close to grooming time, we call her Smelly Ellie.
So cute about Blackberry!
My boyfriend and I have a chocolate lab named Maisy. She is now 8 years old and full of energy. I had a guy ask if she was 2. She went to the vet this week for a check-up and as soon as she walked in the door took a large poop on the floor. Anything for attention! She also enjoys tearing up my undies.
Logan
We have one cat, Sally O'Malley. We'd like to get another one, but she's not too friendly with other cats. Lauren Royall
We have Reese an 8yr. old shepard mix, Twix a 3yr. old cat with "thumbs" (this was my daughters candy theme names), Nakita a 14 yr old grey tiger striped cat and the baby Mischief a pure black 18 mo. old cat.

We have a cute lil' Shiatzu named Oreo Blizzard...because she is black and white with little black speckles in her fur! Plus, we do love our Dairy Queen ice cream! lol
I have two kitties-Toby and Roxie and am considering adding a third . . .
Right now, I've only got one pet...my chubby guinea pig, Gracie. CariLynn
Mandy, the english springer spaniel, Missy, the shih-tzu/poodle mix, and Kelo, the pitbull who thinks he is the same size as the shih-tzu poodle mix!
Alli M. Jones
We have three cats right now, Joe Joe Boo, Topanga, and Quinten. We had a dog, Lady, she has joined the other pets in heaven... Love our animals..
Aaammmaaannndddaaa
I have one dog named Haley. She is a golden retriever mix. We're not sure what she's mixed with because she was found stuck in a barbed wire fence when she was a puppy. We adopted her when she was six weeks old and now she's 10 years old! She still has that cute, adorable puppy face. I love her to death. She's my best friend. I don't know what I'd do without her.
Thanks,
Jessica
I had two cats named Tigger and Phantom. Tigger was all black but when you looked at her in the sun she looked like she had stripes, and Phantom looked like the phantom from Phantom of the Opera.
We have one dog, a rescued Lab Mix named Maggie, and three cats named June Bug, Ducky & Worm. Love them all. =)
Carly Haynes
Currently we just have a fish that my son named Fin :). My parents have my dog I got in high school, a shaggy mixed breed named Rambo.
Cheif- a mutt, but the smarest and most loyal mutt.
Abby- a mutt, that can spell words like walk and treat, so we have talk about them when she's out of the room.
Tiger lilly- the name I gave every cat we had (sometimes more than one at a time) from the time I was 7 until I was about 12.
Chocolate- A white dove that sat on the roof of our house over the door we entered through after my grandpa passed away.
Molly
I like to give my dogs unusual names...I currently have Rogue, who is a white boxer(named after the XMan character with the white streak in her hair) and Lucy, a brindle boxer (not named by me or she would have a cooler name.) But my favorite dog who passed away 3 years ago named Nubbins, also a white boxer (who was named after Uncle Nubbins in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and for her little nubby tail).
I have a 16-year-old cat named McKenzie. He's the best little buddy ever - big personality, comes when I call him and follows me around the house like my little shadow. Love him very much :)
We currently have Laili Ali, our boxer (get it?!) german shepard mix and a cat named Jeter. LeslieGC
Growing up we had cats - Black Gold (BG for short), BG 2, Milkshake, Frenchfry, Stripes, Pinky, and Brain. There were several more, but we lived out in the country on a highway, and they didn't last long enough to have names. Now I have Maggie.
I'm a HUGE dog person... Jack and Jill were/are the names of our family dogs. Jack, a beautiful minature collie is no longer with us. Jill, the teacup poodle is.
We also had Zoe, Jasemine and Nookie noo the cats. Midas was the goldfish. Tweetie was the bird. Kate and Kim were the hamsters, until Kate had baby hamsters, and we renamed Kim to Ken.
Lasky a mutt, Whiskey a german shepard, hamster, some parakeets....Brenda L B
I had various cats growing up that I can't remember, a small dog when I was a child who used to terrorize me and chase me up onto the swingset, and then a great dog named Sadie that we had to give away when I was 12. :-( Another great dog, Freckles that died too young. A cat my brother rescued and named "Mojo" that met an untimely fate with a car. Then the dog I married along with my husband, Max, who lived until the ripe old age of 12 years, 2 months and 2 days died last year. Family currently in a big Dog v Cat debate. We'll see.
I miss my fallen animals :( Scooter the kitten we had for a couple weeks when I was a little girl & Sparky our dog we had for 10 years. I miss them. Now my family has another dog Jack who's a bundle of energy...ALWAYS! But I live with my boyfriend & his mother with their dogs Jager & Ruby. :)
I have the most hyper, lovable, adorable dog named Mia.
Right now we have 2 dogs. The little one is princess who is a poddle/pekan. mix and just a little bit of black nothing, lol. She follows my almost 2year old around everywhere then we have Dixie. She is 6 years old and I have no idea what she is. We found her in the middle of a country street (July in AR). There were no houses around and she was just a pup. We took her in and she's been with us ever since. She is the smartest dog I've ever had (and loyal). We also have a cat, puddles who is soft soft soft. love him and a tank full of fish...well off and on, lol. I grew up always having pets and my kids have always had pets.

We have 2 cats, Sebastion & Bear-Bear, & a black lab/golden retriever mix named Max.
My current dog is Malcolm, 2 cats, Penelope and Oreo. Recently lost my beloved Bailey--Golden Retriever. And I have to name Cody--my very special Rott/Shepard my first "baby" had him from the time I was 21 - 34--
Bonnie (10 years old) is our resident canine; she's a "mutt" in the best sense of the word - ie really smart. she looks like a mini yellow shepard. she and my daughter (16 months old) are just now making friends. she is truly devoted to my husband but she and i have a truce. :)
I've only ever had had one pet. Frank Sinatra, a blue-eyed, black/white kitten, was a runt I bottle fed and raised. He was killed by a car, and I have never wanted a pet since. The pain was too much after losing him.
There is not enough room here to describe all the pets I've had in my life. I will list my current gang. Blossom (beagle/basset mix), Ruby (cairn terrier), Nahla (Alaskan Eskimo), Bella (tortoise shell cat), Pancake (orange tabby), and Fuzzy aka Lasagna (orange tabby)(and the only male in the house, lol. poor guy). I would like to send a dedication out to my other animals: Prissy, Gizmo, Tigger, Tommy, Shadow, Dakota, Muffy, Cinnamon, Toby, Tinker, and Tiffany.
I hate to say it here - but I'm going to be brave and just say it - I really don't like dogs, not even a little - but my boyfriend in HS (now my husband) had a dog named Max - who got let out and never made it home. Oh well....
Goliath, he was a German Shepard/Wolf mix. The cutest and most loyal dog!
We have 2 dogs; a 10 year old shih tzu named Ginger, and, a 3 (almost 4) year old lab mix named Evelyn. They are my babies and I love them more than anything :)
I have the sweetest little old Chow-shepherd mix. She's on her last legs poor thing and i'll be devastated when she goes. :(
I love Allie Larkin and have wanted to read this for a while. Hope I win! thanks, MM!
We had boxers the whole time I was growing up but my first very own pet was a cat I named Trixie (Trix cereal was my fav). I had her until I went away to college. As adults, my husband and I have had too many pet to list but the most recent, a dog named Gus (named after Augustus McCray/Lonesome Dove) we had the longest, 13 years. We lost Gus just a year ago.

My Murphy (who is a Brittany) is the love of my life. My Yorkie, Lil Man still lives down south with my parents, because the harsh northern winters were too much for him. He's old and crotchety and set in his ways. I don't know what I'd do without my dogs though...they really are such a joy!

No pets right now, our Jack was a black cocker spaniel who died (suddenly and unexpectedly) two weeks after my Dad died in 2007. It was a double whammy for me that took a while to get over and I have not wanted to get another dog yet.
Previous pet - Aiko - 15 year old Akita who lives with my son's dad now. She had two cats, Little and Tigre. Little has passed but Tigre is still around. Three two-week-old rescue kittens who I bottle-fed for a month - Snowflake (now 15 lbs), Maxwell, and Scarlet. Scarlet is a boy but we didn't know that until he was supposed to be spayed (he was REALLY fluffy!). Oh and the snake, her name is Pliskin (for anyone who remembers Escape from New York?? Anyone?). The hermit crabs and the fish don't have names. I think that's it...
two PekingesePoodle mixes. Norway + Maeby! They are my favorite things ever!
My last pet was a daschund named Pluto. He never liked any of the guys I dated. Turns out he was an excellent judge of character! :)
We have 2 cats right now. The oldest my husband and I adopted when we first moved it together. We named him Ernie... I think we thought we'd get a dog someday and name it Bert. That didn't happen. Then last fall, a kitten followed us home when we were out for a walk in the neighborhood. We put up signs, but no one claimed her. We named her City... I'm not sure why :)
We currently have more pets than people! Our cats are Elvis and Lily, our dogs are Max and Devon and my daughter's horse is Sultan. We used to have a pony named Lilly too, that was very confusing!
My first cat was Fresh the 5 fingered cat. Now I have baby who is a 20 year old screamer.
I'm not allowed to have a pet where I live, so when I moved here, I had to leave my cat with my mom. I miss him :(
His name is Dizzy and I've had him since he was a little baby. I named him Dizzy because he was such a crazy, active kitten and would chase his own tail around until he was dizzy.
My first pet (other than a string of unsuccessful goldfish) was a rabbit named Pippin.
I have a little mixed daschund/terrier named Ginger.
Our current pets are: Chonny (dog), Hermit (cat), Mickey (Cat), Hammy (hamster) & Jessie James (hamster). We have also been the proud owners of tropical fish, crayfish, toads and (I bet we're the only ones here) mealworms.

I grew up with dogs, but when my hubby &I started dating we got our own. A yellow Lab/Husky mix that I swear is part horse. He sleeps with both my kids and is my husband's bestie.Owens rarely gets called by his name, but instead by a couple that the kids invented.
Thanks for the giveaway manic!

I don't have any pets and am not a big animal person, so if you could just add me to the monthly giveaway and not this book specifically, that way someone who loves animals can win this book!

Currently we have two dogs, Mia and Maggie and a pet fish named Kirby.
Cinnamon, my 16 year old pug!
We had a cat named Bella, although I called her Cruella because of her 'tude!
Scout the yorkie-poo. And she is 100% a member of the family.

We have to Welsh Pembroke Corgis. Doodle is our first "baby" and is the most perfect 9 year old corgi around, as long as you overlook the diabetes, skin allergies, and blindness. Physically he's a mess. Scribble is the second "baby" and he is physically fit, but emotionally needy. Now that we have a toddler, Scribble is definitely suffering from "middle child" syndrome!
I currently don't have any pets, but we had lots of different dogs when I was younger. The one that was our favorite was named "Kid". She passed away a few years ago, and I still miss her.

Currently have two rescue cats. A sweet black DSH named Sydney and a quirky gray & white DSH named Athens. Lost their devilish calico pal named Casablanca recently to unknown causes. Also have a Sheltie named Gracie. Best cat ever was a blue tipped Persian named Atlanta (I went thru an Olympic cities phase.)
I currently have only Koko; we lost his brother Kaspar to heart disease 2 years ago. :(
I can't wait to read 'Stay'!
We currently have one dog She is a German Shepard Collie mix she is getting older i think she is 10 or 11 years old she is a really gental dog her name is Sissy she has the markings of a German Shepard the tail feathers of a collie and head of a collie. we have two cats both Siamies ones mine and the other really hasnt chosen a person to hang with yet. my cat is i think 14 years his name is Moonshine and the other is Zara. our dog plays with zara alot mainly cause the cat is dumb enough to lie down when the dog runs up to her sissy just likes and nips at her ears. We used to to have another cat her name was bella she was a snow shoes. bella was fearless she would run up to the dog and smack her with her declawed paws and then run sissy just has that baffled look on her face we had to put bella down though. once sissy has to be put down we will be sad but we want to get a Austrialian shepard next.

Growing up I had a rabbit named BUNNY and a cat named BABY CAT and a very ugly black dog named BEAUTY. I'll take credit for the very creative rabbit and cat name.... and my dad gets credit for the cruel dog name!
Book sounds good!
Thanks again MaNiC!
Christine
We have two cats. The oldest is Ping, and our youngest is Zoe.
Kassie H.
Chelsea Momma... although she is a Black Lab, she sits in her butt to watch T.V. with the kids and if she thinks we are going for McDonald's Happy meals she sits back on her butt legs out so hopefully I forget she's a dog and buy her one too!
We had two parakeets named Pretty and CooCoo... My son named them when he was 3
I have Emma the VERY naughty but completely lovable lhasapoo!
I have one cat who is about 6 now. His name is Skit, but really only responds to evil, crazy, or Mr. Handsome Pants.
I don't currently have a pet, but growing up I had a Toy Fox Terrier - he had tiny dog syndrome and his name was Feisty :o)
Marla W. (OP, KS)
As a child I had 3 different dogs (at 3 different times) and I named them all Buffy....my parakeet was named Tweety - guess I wasn't a very creative child! ha Had a dog named Dallas (as I was a huge Cowboys fan at the time and couldn't see naming him Troy.....ok, I was more of a Troy Aikman fan than I was a Cowboys fan!) and now have an "inherited" cat named Snickers who thinks she's human and is quite possibly out to kill me! ha
SPepper22
We have one dog that is a West Highland White Terrier (Westie) and his name is Wrigley (after Wrigley Field)!
