THE CELL PHONE LOT by Stephanie Elliot ... ME!

Congrats to
Kristen27
You have won a $10 gift card to either Target, Starbucks, or for iTunes! Email me at stephanieelliot@gmail.com and let me know where you want your card from and also your address so I can send it to you! Also, I will throw in a copy of THE CELL PHONE LOT if you haven't already read it! (If you want to read it?!) CONGRATS!

Here it is everyone, the debut of my little eBook novella, The Cell Phone Lot. I wrote this on the way to my Little Granny’s funeral and decided to put it up on amazon.com for just 99 cents. What can you buy for 99 cents these days? OK, maybe something in McDonald’s Dollar Menu, but believe me, The Cell Phone Lot is way more juicier than a cheeseburger!

Grant and Bridge didn't think their chance meeting at the cell phone lot would lead to anything, but after flight delays and a couple of beers, each starts to wonder if they were meant to find one another. But Grant's supposed to pick up a girl he's met online, and Bridge isn't quite over her ex-boyfriend. Is the timing right, or might this possible relationship just never take off?

I thought about giving away some copies here, but instead, I’m going to give away a $10 gift card to the store of your choosing – iTunes, Target or Starbucks (or somewhere else if you’d rather have it). This is because I would like you to BUY The Cell Phone Lot, FOR ONLY 99 CENTS! Plus, ten bucks is way more than 99 cents so it’s a bigger prize for YOU!

Here's the amazon link so you can BUY IT!

I’m not gonna bore you with anymore details, but to say thank you for always coming here to learn about the books that I share and to tell you I have a bazillion more to share this year. It’s turning out that, YES, I have way more than one book a week to offer to you, and I hope you’ll come back to read about the fabulous authors that I’ll be featuring!

If you want to win the $10 gift card, here's what you need to do. In The Cell Phone Lot, Grant and Bridge each take some risks. I may be taking a risk by putting this book out there, it's a scary thing to self-publish something, and to not know how people might or might not accept your work. Tell me about a risk you have taken in your life and a random winner will be chosen to receive the gift card. I'll choose someone over the weekend or later ... you know, whenever I get around to it -- that seems to be how I work these days! And as always, just come back here in a few days to see who the winner is highlighted on top of this post!

Please, please, please, don't forget to head on over to the latest book giveaways this week too! They are fabuloso books by two great authors - one is a memoir, and the other is a fun novel:

Point, Click, Love by Molly Shapiro

Falling For Me by Anna David

Thanks everyone!

I took a risk by moving to Washington, DC, for a semester. It ended up being one of the best risks I ever took-meeting the most interesting people, volunteering, going to school there to keep up with credit hours, and having the time of my life!

My biggest risk was donating a kidney to my brother on June 30, 2010. Did I consider it risky? No, but when I was being rolled into surgery, it became very clear that I was risking my life for my brother's life. And I didn't care. Luckily, all went well.

I was a sophomore in college...directionless, pretty much, and I went home with a friend one weekend because she had to crown somebody since the previous year's winner was in Germany with her new husband (in the service). Anyway, I met my husband that weekend. Didn't know it at the time...but three months later, I took a chance and physically moved to Troy, AL so we'd have a chance to see if this was the real thing or not (he lived 45 minutes away). Best risk I've ever taken. :) ktmixon315

Moving from Memphis to South Carolina. I had lived in Memphis my entire life, which at that time had been 44 years. Very happy that I took that risk.

My biggest risk to date has been deciding to get divorced and becoming a single parent. Had it been up to him, nothing would have changed. There was not some huge problem, just an overall unhappiness for the entire family. It hasn't been a year yet, but the boys and I are doing well. Now that the tension is gone in the house, everyone seems happier (even the ex). LeslieGC

My biggest risk has been moving from PA to Kansas City after college graduation to follow my boyfriend.

Probably signing a lease and staying in Boston after college graduation, without having any job prospects. That, and jumping out of a plane for fun!

Well..I'm not much of a risk taker. My biggest risk would be simply a bad relationship but I have my lovely daughter from it so I would do it again.

saying yes to a date with my company's biggest client. we've been together ever since and no one at work knows about it. the whole situation could get me fired but i don't care!

I'm about to take a huge career risk...I'm so excited yet scared at the same time. It could mean being happy and loving going to work every single day, but also being home less hours in the evening with Hubs and Little Man...so that is the trade off. But it is my passion. And I feel like I need to follow MY dream for a change.

My biggest risk was deciding to leave my job. I was very unhappy and it was affecting every part of my life yet we needed that income. I took the leap and left the job then two weeks later discovered I was pregnant with our second child! It's been a year not that I've been a stay at home mom and we are making it!

We are embarking on a risk next month. We decided not to sell our house and instead rent it. We are also buying a new house. We will have two mortgages....

First of all...YOU ROCK!!!!

My biggest risk was meeting my husband face to face back in 1998 (we had met on the internet...BEFORE it was cool to meet your spouse on the internet...back when it was..gasp..dangerous. lol). I about chickened out but knew something amazing was about to come out of that meeting...15 years later we are married (12 years strong) and happier than ever.

I finally moved out of my mom's/grandparents' house. I was always a "rule follower" and didn't think I'd leave the house if not for the "right" way (of being married first). But I had had enough and it was just a house. It was no longer my home. I was scared that my family would disown me. It partly came true, but I am much closer to the rest of my family now and oh, so much happier! :)

I'm not much of a risk taker at all. I would say the biggest dual I've ever taken is deciding to keep doing fertility treatments when I knew how crazy they made me.

When I got to college I was still dating my high school boyfriend. I met a guy there who said it was crazy and that I needed to break up with whoever this guy I was dating was and give him a chance....we're getting married in July. Best risk I've ever taken!

I've taken my biggest risk twice actually...I moved to a brand new state where I didn't know anyone for a job. After college, it was off to Denver, and last year, to Seattle. The first year in a new place is always exciting and anxiety-ridden! :)

My biggest risk was right out of college. I was working and hated every minute of it. I realized that a business degree with a concentration in marketing was not my passion. I decided to quit my job and start subbing, after 6 months of loving every minute of teaching, I went back to get my credential. Melissa Rem

Probably my biggest risk was leaving my job or rather taking part-time job(s) to raise my children. Was never easy but I wouldn't give those years up for anything. Looking back I realize how lucky I was do be able to do this by choice. We didn't have the best of everything but you learn what is the most important....family.

The biggest risk I took was meeting my current husband in person (six years ago tomorrow) after chatting on the internet. We met in a public place but you never know. Thankfully, it turned out well.

After college my friend and I signed up for a student work visa and moved to London without a job or a place to live. We studied there for a semester so it wasn't completely foreign to us but at 22 years old that's pretty risky! Thinking about it now I can't believe our parents let us do it!!

Biggest risk.. I came up with two things. Raising my daughter alone. So far so good. She is done with high school in June and has been accepted to four colleges. The other is to become a surrogate. It worked out so well, I did it again! :)

I always try to take risks everyday no matter how small or big. When I moved to Florence, Italy, 12 years ago after I got laid off, that was a huge risk. It was the scariest think I ever did. Also joining Arbonne is a big risk. It forces me to step out of my comfort zone and learn about my weaknesses and ways to make them strengths.

I can't think of anything risky I've done. I've done everything in my life by choice, some might have been hard, but I don't classify it as risky.

Rushing off here to go buy your book! I can't wait to read it!

Looking back on my life, I would have to say that the biggest risk I took was getting married at such a young age (19) to a guy I knew for only 10 months. At the time, I didn't feel it was risky but now I am thinking, 'What WERE we thinking??!! We will celebrate our 39th anniversary this year so I guess you could say it was a risk worth taking!

Can't wait to read your novella - on my way to Amazon to buy it! Happy-happy!!

A risk I would like to take is to write for magazines or on line articles free lance. I have a friend who is currently employed this way and I remember having a conversation with her once way back when she suggested I do it because I read and am better with vocabulary " her words". She's doing it and I'm not lol!

I loved "the Cell Phone Lot". I think my biggest risk may be ahead of me as I am nearing retirement after teaching elementary school for more than 30 years. What will the next chapter of life be for me?

My Two Army Brats said...

I bought the ebook as soon as I got the email that it was available!

My biggest risk was when I was 18 and my brother came home from Germany in the Army and told me to pack my stuff because he was moving me to NY with him. I had about 200 buck, and two totes of personal belongings and no where to live or a job. And then the jerk went and left for a month of training about 2 weeks after getting me there! lol but within a couple weeks I had "made it" and even had cable tv! And I met my husband!

I'm not a very big risk taker, but it was risky for me to go through with divorce and forge a life on my own.

I do not take a lot of risks but last April I took a risk leaving a job that I liked for a different one with the same company that offered me more money. I feel that it was a mistake because I am not as happy.

One thing that comes to mind is when I became a d.j. at a radio station. I was working there as an advertising exec, and one of my managers thought I might be good on the air. I was so scared that I would sound stupid, or wreck the equipment, or stumble over my words. It ended up being a total blast and I did it for several years, voicing commercials as well.

It's sad, I honestly can't think of a risk to mention, though I certainly hope I have taken some. But...I did recently tell a friend that I should take more risks in my life. Maybe this is a sign to start!

My biggest risk was marrying my late husband, knowing he was terminally ill. It seems it would have been much easier to just walk away rather than going through all we went through - but not really.

Last April, I left a very good job with a good company, to stay home with my 2 kids. While I worry that I have permanently derailed my career, I do not regret my decision. I will never get this time back with my kids and I am glad I am able to just focus on them right now.
