All The Difference
Kaira Rouda
Good morning – today I bring you the last book for June, but don’t be sad because I’ve already got about 12 books lined up for July, including Jennifer Weiner, Amy Hatvany, Stacey Ballis and Emily Giffin, so while I will NOT be posting daily, we’ve got some great authors to look forward to still!
And speaking of great authors, today, as the final author in the June Book-a-Day promo, we’ve got Kaira Rouda’s All The Difference, a novel about three very different women and the choices they make (including MURDER!). And this book will have your heart racing through to the end, I promise you – nothing like ending the month here on Booking with Manic by sending you off with a book that’ll have us all going out with a bang!?!?
All The Difference is the story of three women whose lives become entangled by the choices they make and how, ultimately, one of them turns to murder to achieve her goals.
Roommates Laura and Angie couldn't be more different. Laura is a local celebrity, the television anchor who is motivated to move out of small-time media markets and on to the big time, no matter the cost. Meanwhile, Angie, a luckless waitress, spends her time waiting for Mr. Right to save her from temporary jobs and a life spent making bad choices.
On the other side of town, Ellen abandons her life as a successful fundraiser for that of an isolated housewife in the country estate she shares with her husband, whose affairs become increasingly hard to ignore. When the city’s gossip columnist, Maddie, and restaurant reviewer, Dixon, become involved in the mystery, the unlikely duo stir up more than they intended. But will anyone be able to stop the next murder?
With her signature compassion and wit, Kaira Rouda once again takes readers on an entertaining journey into the heart of women’s lives in suburbia - this time with adultery and murder in the mix.

How about one of each. I have really odd feet and have had 2 surgeries but they are still really flat and my yoga teacher commented on them last night. :(
Trait about myself: I feel things deeply.

I was born with violet eyes like Elizabeth Taylor.
a hairdresser once told me that my curls curl the "wrong-way" i suppose they go counterclockwise or soemthing. no idea if there's any validity to that or not.
I can name all the US presidents in order.
I can't think of anything impressive so I will tell you that I don't react to most mosquito bites. You know if you get an itchy bump after being bitten, you are allergic to their saliva. Well, I have been bitten many times and never had a bump. Except in Hawaii. Those mosquitos got me. Must be a slightly different species over there. =)

Physical trait--I have red curly hair that I am very vain about because I feel it makes me stand out from the crowd. Personality trait---I am a giant child. I love to have fun and have little shame in my pursuit of it.
I am a good listener, and I try not to judge people too quickly.
I was born without a thyroid.

I don't have a hitch hiker's thumb. You know when you do a thumb's up sign and the tip of your thumb arches back? Yea, mine doesn't do that. Not even close. It just stands straight up.

I'm a VERY compassionate person! I'm always the first one to make an excuse for people on their behalf or to give them a second chance.

i opted to have a double mastectomy and no reconstruction when i was 30. :)
My elbow is double jointed
I can freely move my pinky toe. It goes up and down and side to side.
I have 2 partially webbed toes on my right foot.
I am pretty good at rolling with the punches and not letting things get to me. I feel like I hang out with people that are the opposite so I would say that is pretty unique to me.
my pinkies are curved. on both hands.

Hmm, that's hard. Sad but not really talented or have any special trait. I do have really soft skin. I do take care of my face but have always just had soft skin. Oh and small ears, which is nice because they don't stick out or look crazy.
I can bend my middle fingers forward at the top joint with the rest of the fingers straight.
Margie T
I can curl my tongue.

I still have a baby tooth....
I have a birth mark on my face that makes people think of early Madonna years....ha!
Eloisepeaches
I have a little birthmark on the inside of my right arm, above the elbow.

I blush REALLY easily whenever the conversation turns to something even remotely sexual. Also, I have 4 tattoos.

I have natural curly hair.
Most people if not all, don't know that I always have handful of quarters. I would feed the meters where ever I am. My dad had taught me that I do good, I will have good in my life.

Hmmm I tend to be very honest and direct, not sugarcoat things at all.

Hmmm I've got huge boobs that are real. LOL Had them since I was 15 & didn't know what to do with them. Thankfully @ 32 I've got a better idea of how to deal with this asset. :)
I am a very tense person both emotionally and muscularly.

I have massive amounts of naturally blonde hair.
If you're my friend, I tell you the honest truth, not what you want to hear. Mel Rem
I have naturally blonde hair!! I also always want to do for others before doing for myself!!
I can play five musical instruments: flute, piccolo, piano, guitar, and saxophone. Or at least I could, I haven't picked up a saxophone or guitar in years.
my hair color is pretty unique, it's kind of a reddish brown and it's completely natural!
also i'm kind of unique in the way i say things and act. i'm kind of ridiculous, but in a good way!
i think i'm unique in that i'm a very sensitive/empathetic person - i know i'm not the only one, but i think it's at least rare.

I have never been stung by a bee or wasp. So I'm afraid of them. I'm convinced if I get stung I'll go into anaphylactic shock and die :-)
I don't think I have anything that stands out...I am a great mom? Does taht count? LOL
I'm a talented listener in an age of talkers. People often comment on how well I listen. I used to just yack, probably because I was in the news business, but I guess I just blabbed out!

I can touch my nose with my tongue...
I don't look remotely close to my age, at all. I'm 40 and look about 24. I have no wrinkles, crows feet, nothing. People never believe I'm as old as I am, and, I'm constantly pulling out my drivers license to prove it. It's gotten to the point where I carry 2 forms of ID with me, because I'm frequently turned away from bars, etc.
Front row parking spaces always open up for me when I drive. I don't circle for them. I just pull in the lot and they are there.
~Colbey J
I can't think of any one thing that makes me unique. Just a bunch of things together, I suppose.
My second toe from the end is fatter by the nail and is super skinny where it connects to the foot.
I use to be extremely shy--(friends parents loved me because I was so quiet). I hated this so I forced myself to get over it by always going outside of my comfort zone. Down fall I married the wrong guy and gave up some of "me" that I realize now at the age of 40 I really like so now--I am the real me not shy but still like my alone time so I meant it half way--which is where I should have always been.
This is such a hard question! I guess one of the things about me that makes me different is that I love the gym. Most people hate it but I love it!
Thanks!

I am not sure. But GOD told me I am unique - even to knowing the number of hairs on my head, Luke 12:7. So I will believe Him!!! lol
Hmmm...lots of interesting answers here - I love it!
I have hardware in my neck - I blew out a disk when I turned 30 and had to endure surgery to repair it. I now have 2 screws and a bracket (for lack of a better word) back there to keep everything where it belongs :o)
Personality and physical traits:
I look on the bright side...I had to go through a lot because of my breast cancer (diagnosed when I was 31, no family history-GET THOSE MAMMOGRAMS!), but I got great curly hair (from chemo) and perky breasts (reconstruction on right side, lift on left side) because of it! And I also got my daughter-we adopted her after I was declared cancer-free! Who knows how long I might have tried to get pregnant had I not had cancer.
I was born 3 months premature (and I'm 46).. back then they didnt have all this technology for little ones. I feel blessed to be alive, and feel that there is some reason I am here in this world.
This is a hard question. I think I would say I'm really considerate. I want the best for people and I'm very helpful. I'm the person who gives someone else my seat on the Train, who tells tourist who didn't ask a great place to go visit with their kids, and who will always do what I can to make you happy.
I am rather small. At 4'11, I am almost, always the smallest person in the room.
I am the mommy of Jake (the beast) and Connor (the con artist). :)
Sarah
I would say that I am a fixer. I try to fix everyone's problems even though I know it is physically impossible for me to do so.

I am very perceptive and have freakishly good hearing
I can make my left eyebrow wiggle without moving my right eyebrow. My daughter thinks it is hilarious. She's only 5.
Wow! This is a hard one! I'm pretty blunt - I tell it like it is whether you like it or not. But I try to be nice about it :-)
I am probably the most clumsy person on the face of the earth. I've bruised myself at least twice that I can count today.
qweska8402
I can't wink. Been trying for 40 years.
I've got red hair and freckles... But I'm not Irish!
I will find the good to anything! My friends will even call & say ok...here's one & try and stump me.
I've had a very rough life, and learned early on that if you concentrate on the bad, more will come your way...and really, what good does it do (like worrying!)??
Thanks for the opportunity...and I am so glad I found this blog:-)

I can roll my eyesballs up until you can only see the whites of my eyes.
When I was a kid, my sister would do that and pretend to be a zombie to scare me. I ended up practicing.
Lilian @ A Novel Toybox
I have a curiously small head. I'm 5'5" so I'm average sized, but I had to get a children's bike helmet because even the ones for women were too big. I have to find sunglasses specifically for small faces or I'll be wearing some Thomas the Train ones.
I have 2 birthmarks and they are identical. One is just below my chest, the other on my butt, and they are shaped like an eye.
Im a trained artist, been drawing & painting since I was young, it takes me 4 hours from start to finish a lifelike portrait.. I don't do it enough.. Now my other trait or should I say quirk, I am a fantastic artist, I can do detail work like you wouldnt believe, just dont ever ask me to paint a wall, for some reason I can't, paint drips, not even you name it! :o)
I have an uncanny ability to be friends with just about anyone. I could meet you on an airplane and be a friend for life if we hit it off. Not sure why that is...I just like people I guess. :)
Does that sound weird? LOL!
Hugs, Nan
I have naturally curly hair. And this is pretty weird..I can only wink my right eye. I have never been able to do the other!
I don't have a toenail of one of my little toes - just because - not from a accident or dropping something on it.
I can roll my tongue, but I can't roll my R's. :)
Kristen27
I have ridiculously long, skinny toes and there's always been a part of me that wonders if maybe I might be able to hang from things with them. Maybe someday I'll be brave enough to find out....

My hair goes naturally streaky in the summer, so obviously that people ask if I've gotten highlights! My hair stays multicoloured throughout the early winter months and then fades until summer comes again!
My eyes are blue, but change their color depending on what I'm wearing. Sometimes they look greyish, sometimes green and sometimes really super blue.

I'm a cat whisperer. 'Nuff said.
I have a tooth that is 90 out of whack (luckily it is a lower molar so only my dentist is aware of it)
Juliet Farmer should win. Anyone who has overcome that takes the cake. Bravo! I can pick up anything, and I mean anything with my feet!
My eyes change color when I cry. When I was younger, my eyes were blue, and when I was about 16 or 17 they changed to green. And now, when I cry, they change to blue.
Hmm, I don't really have anything fun to share, someone already stole my big boobs answer. I guess I have to say I'm pretty quick witted and I can turn just about any sentence into a "your mama" joke. The husband doesn't appreciate this though since those jokes are usually aimed towards his mama :)
I have sunflower eyes... there's a rim of yellow around my pupil making it look like a sunflower.
I have a strawberry birthmark on the left side of my head. I don't really think there's anything unique about me personality-wise. I'm pretty easygoing and I try to find the good in most everyone that I meet.
Tough question! I have naturally curly hair, and I'm pretty guarded personally.
I have hazel eyes that turn bright green depending on the weather
This is a tough one - I think I am pretty average. I have a really good memory for people and often remember the dumbest stuff they have told me.
i guess i have a unique sarcastic sense of humor.
I avoid all confrontation, I even change TV channels during arguments
Most of my right ankle isn't mine...it's composed of pins and plates from a nasty fall on the ice back in college. It was (and is to this day) the only time I've ever broken a bone. I guess when I do something I do it all the way! :)
I had surgery to remove the left side and bridge of my thyroid three years and I don't have to be on any medicine because the other half of my thyroid does all the work.
One weird trait about myself is the fact that I can spread my toes apart like fingers.
I have two different thumbs! It's actually something that has always embarrassed me because one of them is a stubby thumb (like Megan Fox)!
aggiekristi04
My pinkies are disproportionately short! Cant notice it unless I point it out, and having longer nails helps too!
I have SEVEN wisdom teeth. And I've never had any of them taken out. I wish I could claim this makes me really smart but probably not :)
