In Too Deep by Michelle Kemper Brownlow

Congrats to BUTTAH! You have won a copy of IN TOO DEEP! Please contact me so we can get you a copy!

I first met Michelle Kemper Brownlow in the early days of blogging through our mutual friend Dawn Meehan of Because I Said So (LOVE Dawn! Check out her blog!) and while I always thought Michelle was going to illustrate and write children's books I was very much surprised and pleased when she announced she had a book contract for a New Adult book. And then when I found out that Sarah Hansen of OKAY Creations did her book cover (who also did my book cover), well that was just too cool. And isn't her book cover of In Too Deep beautiful?

The main character is Gracie and she is a naïve young girl who falls in love with the very wrong guy at college. This is her story:

Gracie has just finished her freshman year of college in Memphis when she takes a job at a local pizza joint in her home town of McKenzie, Tennessee. She is the epitome of innocence when she meets Noah. Noah is unabashedly handsome, intriguingly reckless and just cocky enough to be sexy. Gracie's instincts tell her to stay far away from him, and based on the stories she hears from her co-workers, he leaves broken hearts in his wake. But still, she can't explain her fascination with him. Noah puts aside his bad boy ways when what he thought was a summer crush has him unexpectedly falling in love. But soon after Gracie transfers to UT Knoxville to be with Noah, their unexpected love becomes riddled with anger, deceit and humiliation. Jake, Noah's former roommate and Gracie's best friend, can no longer be a bystander. Gracie's world falls out from beneath her, and when she breaks, she turns to Jake for strength. As Jake talks her through a decision she's not yet strong enough to make, together they uncover a truth so ugly neither of them is prepared for its fallout. Will Jake pull her to the surface or is Gracie Jordan finally In Too Deep?

If you're up for riding an emotional roller-coaster, then this is the book for you! You will feel attached to Gracie and also frustrated with her at the same time, but you can also understand how she can fall for Noah, because young girls are naïve and will listen what boys tell them!

Here are "THESE THREE THINGS" from Michelle!

1. My very first job was at Coney Island...a small hot dog stand in the food court of our local mall. I was 14. Cigarettes were $1.25 and my main job when opening in the morning was to wash the snot-like slime off the probably-too-old hot dogs that would sit on the fryer all day.

2. I am a vegetarian...mostly vegan, which means no meat, dairy or eggs. My husband has Celiac Disease which means we eat mostly gluten-free...makes you wonder what I eat, right? Well, DEFINITELY no hot dogs!

3. I cry at everything. Anything that is the least bit touching or emotional (especially if a song is involved b/c music is my addiction) has me looking like a blubbering idiot in seconds. My teens are always saying, "MOOOOOM, are you crying?!"

If you would like to win a copy of In Too Deep, leave a comment about a time when you did something that you were a bit naïve about (or flat-out stupid) - it doesn't have to be something over a guy. For instance, something I did that was pretty stupid when I was younger: I had to do a project in 8th or 9th grade. I was too lazy to take the encyclopedia (do all of you know what those are?) to the library to photocopy pictures to use in my report for the project… so I CUT out the pictures in the encyclopedia and glued them to my report! Talk about stupid!

So share a stupid or naïve moment with me and you could win a copy of In Too Deep! Leave your story in the comments section and a winner will be announced on the blog within a week. You'll have to check back to see if you win!

BONUS for reading all the way through: I'm also giving away my e-short story, The Cell Phone Lot August 1-5, so hop on over HERE to download it for free.

First time visiting?
If you're new to Booking with Manic, thank you for stopping by! We love new readers! Some notes - If you're entering to win a book, please leave a comment on this post and use an identifying name when commenting. It's usually a great idea to include an email, which I will never give out to anyone else. You can only enter once please. You'll need to check back here in a few days to see if you've won the book -- I will either list the winner in a new post OR highlight the winner's name at the top of this post, or tell you where you can find the winner's name at the top of this post. I do NOT personally contact the winners. It is YOUR responsibility to come back to see if you've won. Most books are supplied directly through publishers, publicists and the authors. Winners will receive books directly from the publisher or author within 3 weeks from the time you provide me with your address, unless I send you the book (sometimes I will). Sorry, but we can only ship to U.S. and Canada so if you're from another country, thank you for coming by to read and discover new authors, but we can't send you a book. I dated a bartender I worked with in college. I was both stupid and naive. Of course, I wasn't the only one he was dating. And he was really slick about it. Live and learn.

My freshman year in college, I went out with two girlfriends. We were drunk and met two guys. They invited us back to their apartment, which was not within walking distance, so we climbed into their car. Luckily, there wasn't any harm, and they even dropped us back off to our dorms. Things could have gone much worse though. I was definitely naive and stupid to climb in a stranger's car.

My list of stupid things is endless, generally they involved alcohol. At my cousin's wedding she had an open bar and I took it as an opportunity to find a wine I loved!!!! Needless to say I don't remember what I drank, what I liked and barely how I got home. I do remember having to strip in the driveway because I got sick all over myself and my husband wouldn't let me in the house.

So naive were my friend & I in high school. While "cruising the hood" like we always did (which consisted of driving by our crushes houses. That scattered across 3 cities I might add)we drove past a guy skateboarding & my friend proceeds to yell out the passenger window at him. I was in the backseat, we pulled over just past him & picked him up & gave him a ride to his friends house where he was headed. There were 3 of us & we'd like to believe we were bad ass girls, but in all honestly he could have done whatever he wanted to us. Luckily it was just one of those times where things worked out. I have never picked up another person on the side of the road since!

We had just moved. My mother was going to the laundromat and wanted me to go to the store. I ignored her directions and got lost. I went to the police station and got a ride to the laundromat. The look on my mother's face: priceless.

I have done quite a few stupid things in my life, some involved alcohol other did not. The one that I remember most is we went on a girls trip to Las Vegas. At one of the clubs on night, I thought it would be a good idea to ditch my friends to go make out with a boy. I was gone for a while and when I found my friends again they were panicked. They had spent a significant amount of time looking for me. Thankfully everything turned out fine but not smart to leave without telling anyone where I was.

I am about to have baby #4 next month and my oldest isn't even 6. I sometimes question what were we thinking.

I did a few things that were stupid back in my day. one that comes to mind is getting into a car with someone who had been drinking on a snowy night. Thank God nothing happened but I will never be that stupid again!

On my 18th birthday I was excited that I was able to buy smokes but I also felt like I was able to drive faster. I thought because I turned 18 I was allowed to go over the speed limit. Stupid but that was my reasoning.

Wow. Too many to say. 1 big one was when I was living with my ex giving him my tax return so he could put a down payment on a car because he really needed one. I realize now that was so stupid. He would never have done anything like that for me.

Many many stupid things in my life...maybe attempting to "trip" w/my friends in high school, going off a path in the Cemetery and getting lost for hours in the dark. I was so freaked out (luckily the drugs didn't work) and to this day I dislike cemeteries-especially at night. Ugh

I "fell" and broke my ankle as a senior in college. I didn't really fall, I was jumping up to try to touch something and landed really wrong.

I always thought high school would be the best time of my life thanks to episodes of Save by the Bell. I'd be able to carry a cell phone around all the time, eat out for lunch every day and have tons of freedom. How naive I was!

One for never wearing heals or anything besides sneakers, I thought it would be a great idea to steal a pair of my sister's very high heals during the winter. Yea, it ended with me sprawled out on the ground in front of the whole school. So embarrassing!

My whole blog is about stupid things I've done!!
The one that comes to mind the quickest (most recent) is this: I just went to see a musical with my mom a few weeks ago. When I went to go sit down, I didn't look close enough at my ticket to see where my seat was.

Embarrassing is having six people stand for you to get to your seat, only to realize that you're in the wrong section. So you sit in the wrong section for two minutes, then exit the other way down the row and hope they don't notice when you come down the aisle to get to your correct seat. STUPID!

I was completely naive in my early 20's in thinking that smoking the occasional cigarette made me look cool. Looking back I obviously looked like a fool!

Tire pressure goes on in my car. Instead of rushing to fill it like ALWAYS, I decided to ignore it since it's usually weather releated. 1 am...driving..KABOOM. Last time I ignore that ever in my life.

I have done entirely too many stupid things in my life...I guess the most recent is drinking too much and puking. I know I can't drink like I used to...and I won't be trying to do that again!!

I found out that I was super naive after I got divorced. I had no idea that some guys thought that iphones should be used to send pictures of various body parts. Wow!

When I was in High School, a friend and I decided we wanted to stay out all night so we each told our parents we were staying at each other's houses. Well, after about midnight there was nothing to do so we cruised around and ended up sleeping in a rest area off the highway and then having breakfast at Denny's before going home. It ended up being a long, cold night. Thankfully no one got hurt, but talk about stupid and potentially dangerous!
