****UPDATE: Request from Emily--She has asked that if you get a chance, please check out her website and her TOUR DATES HERE! (And she's got some cool giveaways too-just sign up for her newsletter!) She'll be in a lot of different cities and may be visiting your town! She said she wants to meet cool people! ... NOW, on with the contest!
This one is a BIGGIE for me! And I'm so excited to be able to offer a chance for FOUR of you to win AUTOGRAPHED copies of Emily Giffin's new book, Love The One You're With.
Here are some photos of MY Emily Giffin book collection, and yes, I would grab these suckers in the event of a fire (after pulling my three children out of course) ...
You'll notice the copy of Baby Proof is not a hardcover but is actually an ARC of the book, which in industry terms means Advanced Reader Copy. This copy was EMILY'S COPY. I mean, she READ that copy. After she was done speaking when I first went to see her, she asked the audience, very charmingly, "Are there any questions?"
My heart was pumping furiously and I was scared to death to ask the question I had on my mind, but I did it ... I blurted out:
"What does one have to do to get a copy of THAT book!?" And I pointed right at THAT BOOK she had on the podium. Because since it was an ARC, the book was not coming out for like two months, and she wasn't even promoting Baby Proof at that point. I think she was promoting Something Blue at that time.
She laughed and actually said, "I'll mail it to you."
WHAT?
So, she did! How amazingly cool is that for a bestselling author to just mail her copy of her ARC to a fan when it wasn't even coming out for a couple of months? Who would DO THAT? An awesome person would, that's who!
Here's a picture of my writer friend Elyce, Emily and me (or is it I?)
Then Swish and I saw Emily at the Midwest Literary Festival and we were like her front-row posse and before she took to the stage, she left her sweater with us, and Swish and I wondered if we snagged Emily's sweater and put it up on eBay, how much could we get for it, or if we put it on, would we have the Emily Giffin muse? But, we didn't steal Emily's sweater for two reasons: 1. That would be wrong. 2. It would never fit me!
Swish, Emily, me at the Midwest Literary Fest.
Emily told us that when we smile we should touch our tongue to the back of our teeth or the roof of our mouth to make the smile look real. Apparently, I did whatever the wrong thing was in this photo!
OK, enough about me and my love for Emily and her books! Here's your shot to win an autographed copy of LOVE THE ONE YOU'RE WITH!
Leave a comment telling me why you LOVE THE ONE YOU'RE WITH. And who says it has to be a spouse/partner/lover? Could be a friend, co-worker, blog-pal, parent, pet, barista, UPS guy, whomever!
OR, tell me a story about a time when you had a run-in like the one Emily writes about in her first chapter. My good friend Sharon just had a run-in with her ex from 20 years ago, and she just called me screaming, "I AM SO GOING TO WIN THAT BOOK!" How random that she reads Emily's first chapter about running into the ex, and she JUST ran into the guy who sent her a container of all green M&Ms when we were in college. Thank God she looked hot. Thank God her hubby was there and he looked hot too! Thank God her ex is not looking so hot now!
So, tell me a story -- One about why you LOVE THE ONE YOU'RE WITH or what happened when you ran into the one you thought was THE ONE.
BUT DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY IN YOUR ENTRY! Because as long as you leave ANY kind of answer (not perverted or inappropriate, of course because we here at Manic Mommy are NEVER perverted or inappropriate!), you'll be entered to win a copy of the book because I'll be choosing winners at RANDOM a la a Booking With Manic drawing on Monday, May 12.
You have until Sunday night, May 11, to leave an answer to be entered to win a book. And make 'em good, cuz Emily will be reading them too! But don't worry, it's all RANDOM!
So, dish it my friends!

I know this is boring, but I love my kids! (Like the rest of you don't, right?) It made me think of them when you said "love the one you're with" though, because I'm not with them as often as I'd like to be. Damn job.
My kiddies definitely.... for their smiles and laughter and making my day a little brighter. And my kitty cat, for his snuggles and his purring. And my hubs.... for making ME purr. :)
Wow! Good for Sharon that she and hubby looked hot while her ex did not :) I love when that happens (unless I'm the ex)...
Well, I love the one I'm with because (it's very cliche) he completes me... and he had me when we first locked eyes :P Corny, but it's true. LOL Plus, I'm very into astrology and we're the best match - Leo-Sag!
Thanks so much for the chance to win :)
21 years later hes still my best friend, my kids father, my lover, my biggest fan, and he leaves me love notes every day, and kisses me in K mart before he heads off to the fishing stuff. :D
I love Mike he completes me!
I love my Dad. He is the most giving person I know, and he is an awesome father. And he is also an excellent grandfather now to my two children...who I also love!
And I got up early just so I could come enter this before leaving on my trip! :)
My life has never been boring, (lots of bad choices here!)
I was with my now ex-husband when my first bf came back into my life. The relationship I had was rocky and ex was very jeolous of any time or people I met away from him.
When BF came calling, it was like we had never broke up. But like our former relationship, this was transitory and he disappeared soon after he came back. I often wonder if he was real since he floated in and out of my life so much.
But I stayed with ex, finally marrying him and then after 18+ years divorcing to try to find myself again.
New hubby was also on a broken path before we met. It's been almost 8 years now and I love him as much as I did on our first date.
Lynn
My mom, totally!
She comes every week from an hour away and stays with me and watches my three children (5, 2 and 6 months) while I'm at work. She drives the baby to work twice per day so that I can come outside and breastfeed her (since pumping is a nightmare for me). She is awesome!
I love my husband because he's always there for me. When I'm up in the middle of the night sick(which I am often) he somehow senses that I'm sick and wakes up to make sure I'm alright
Well now everyone knows my story but I still have to enter the contest to win the book so here it is again. I just ran into the guy I thought was "the one" 6 days ago after not seeing him in 18 years and 10 months!! At our kid's hockey game, our boys teams were playing each other and "the one" and I actually sat together and watched the game. Luckily my team won and my son scored, his son didn't. Anyways, the problem is I never asked him all the questions I always wanted to if I ever saw him again. So now I am left still wondering about a lot of things.
I love my boyfriend of several years. He is very kind, generous, and loving. But when it comes to loving the one I'm with, I think of my cat.
I love him because he is the craziest cat I know, because he fetches, gets excited when he sees a ball, sits in the window when he's calm, and because he makes me laugh all day. I love my cat even though he hides in the shadows to scare me and bites me for no reason. I love him despite the fact he peed in the floor last week and threw up in my shoe. But in those moments late at night when he needs to be loved and he walks up my legs and curls up on my stomach or chest and he falls back to sleep, I know that I'm with my true love.
Hi Stephanie--love your blog! (We met very briefly, very much in passing at Spring Fling. :)
I'm a huge Emily Giffin fan, too--the themes of her books hit upon such humanly compelling topics...and this one seems to be no exception.
I love living with my son and husband (well, most of the time!)--when I'm with them, I feel I've come home. And, I have to say, even the pet guinea pig is growing on me :-).
SHARON!!! You forgot to tell everyone what your son said to you when you tucked him in that night!!!
AND... I want to know what questions you would ask him had you thought about the questions you wanted to ask him!!!
Also, maybe all of us women need to make a list of the questions we would ask our ex if we were to run into him in CASE we DO run into him SOMEDAY like YOU DID!!!!!!
I love the one I'm with because even after nearly 7 years of marriage, he still makes me laugh my arse off nearly every day.
Hi Marilyn! I do remember you from the Spring Fling--I wish it was annual, don't you!?!?!? Thanks for stopping by and entering the contest!!!
I got pregnant my sophomore year in college. I'd just turned 20. My boyfriend and I had been together for about 2 months. Big ole' OOPS. We didn't rush into marriage, and we aren't a 'perfect' couple (but are there anywhere, really?). We got married when our oldest was three and have 3 great kids now. I may not have chosen him as my spouse had I not gotten pregnant, but I love him and what he's given me all these years later.
I love the ones that love me because.....they love me....with no asterisks attached.
Simple enough. Wouldn't you agree?
My husband has faults, but who doesn't? I probably have more than anyone else!
But he loves. He REALLY loves me, and cherrishes me, and tells me I'm beautiful all the time. I find him just looking at me all the time. He is always thinking of me by calling me or coming by my office to see how I am. He buys me great gifts for my b-day, Christmas, anniversary, and Mother's Day. He is the PERFECT kisser, and he holds while we sleep at night. He does his best to make me happy and helps me whenever I ask him to. He has a great sense of humor and we laugh very often. We are happy just sitting on the deck drinking a beer and talking, or going on short trips of adventure just spend time together.
I can't imagine my life without him.
Monnik--GREAT STORY!
And Bina--WOW!
Martini--"They?" Plural? Are you living in a compound? hee hee!
These are so fun and inspiring!
this is probably nerdy, and since i don't have any kids i can't say them! but I am a nanny, and I absolutely love the kids I nanny for. No matter how much they say they don't like me because I make them do their homework, and don't always let them eat junk food, I love how they cuddle up with me on the couch in the middle of the day, and want to be close to me. It shows that although I don't always give them what they want, and make them do their homework when they don't want to (which is always!) they really do love me. I only hope that one day when I have children, they will want to do the same!
You mean you can't have multiples?
Martini's back.
Back again.
Tell a friend...
Or two or three...
Cuz, apparently, he's into multiples... or threesomes...
I love the one I'm with because he's the nicest man I have ever met. He loves me to overflowing capacity. He forgives me of my flaws and stands right beside me when I need him. He can rile me up and calm me down. He is the most amazing father that my children could possible have and works hard to stay that way. He's just the one that I love to be with.
great topics for books. They all sound great to read. Your so fun(ny) with your contests. I love it. Kelli
Manic ....
Who would have thought were a Eminem fan?
Hmmm....on your insinuation....should I answer that question?
Martini--total eminem fan...
who doesn't like chocolate... with nuts?
Answer anything you feel like answering... this is a free-spirited blog! All in fun, you know it!
I love my Bear because even tho' she pees on things, wakes me up at 4am when she only went to sleep 5 hours before and terrorises the ducks she gives the best hugs ever and can always make me smile when it counts.
It's a book comp - what , ya think I wouldn't be in? Are you MAD??
I love my husband. This June we celebrate 13 years. Each year is a blessing. Before we were married he was in a car crash and was not suppose to live, he also was not suppose to walk (due to spinal cord injury) or have children!! Well he walked me down the isle (on 2 canes) when we were married. We have 3 children. And despite his limitation (Afo braces) that he wears everyday to help him walk he is a Full Time Police Sargent with our local police department. So when our city is tucked on their beds each night, he is out on the streets protecting us!!
Hmm, I'd like to put my husband, or my child... because I absoutely love being with them! My family is small, but we are all loved. BUT I WILL CHOSE MY BEST FRIEND NIKKI!!
Why is she my bestest friend? Why do I love her to death?
Gosh, there are tons of things. Three years ago she moved 8 hrs away from me. I miss her terribly. But no matter how long it is between talks , or seeing each other, its like we haven't talked in just a few hours, not a few weeks ! We can finish each others thoughts, sentences, whatever. If one of us is hurting the other automatically knows through some sort of best freind telepathy or something. We have been friends since 7th grade math class:)) That adds up to 24 years! I got married on her birthday ,she was one of my bridesmaids, haha.
Theres just too much to put down about what Nikki means tome, but I definitely love having her for my bestest friend. We have been through so much together, hopefully we will have many more years :))
( Oh btw I just want one of those books becaseu the drawing day is my birthday, lol)
Love Emily Giffen and can't wait to read this one.
Now,MY love really is the one I'm with. He's a hottie, he does the cooking, he has a great smile, he's a wonderful dad and he picked me! :)
Thanks for another contest.

I have always knew I loved my Mag because he was sarcastic, supportive, and selfless. Then my BFF decided to leave her husband - and listening to all of her rantings about The Bear, I realized - wow, I really am lucky. My Mag pushes me to be a better person, yet, when I want to be lazy and sit on my ass - he will come and sit with me. He has a devilish grin, quick wit, and wicked sense of humor - all balanced by the fact that he is the 2nd best (next to my Noodle, of course) snuggler in the world!
Good luck to everyone on the contest! =D
I love my dog!! Don't get me wrong, my husband is absolutley wonderful and my kids make me so proud every day! My dog just is too sweet!
She is always thrilled to see me, and is just such a happy dog!! I am happy when I am around her!!
It might sound corny...but I love my dog!!!
Isn't everyone into multiples?
All free spirited responses encouraged.......
I absolutely love my husband. We have been through many rough times and that was before we even got married. And through it all he stood by me and took care of me. I remember we have been dating for just about a year when I got real sick and had to go to the doctors.. . well the doctors turned into a stay in the hospital for 3 weeks. He came to the hospital everyday after work and sat by my side for the whole 3 weeks I was in there. The hospital was 1 1/2 hours away from his house and he didnt complain about it once. Then a month after being married I found myself sick again this time I was in a downtown hospital and again he was by my side every single day encouraging me through to get better. After that first illness he still wanted to marry me. He takes very good care of my sick self. He does the cleaning in the house and all the lawn work and all i have to do is the cooking and the laundry. He is my best friend and lover and I couldnt imagine my life without him.
Just last week we went to a wedding in the city and I ran into my ex and of course Mark and I look hot and awesome and my ex looked not so good. But i didnt even say hi the the ex and all i kept thinking was "see how happy I am now that I am not with you." I know that is mean but my ex was a mean guy and never would have been able to stick by my side at my rough moments. Of course just because mark stuck by my side during my illnesses is not the only reason why I love him there are many others but I know that if we could survive these things before we even thought about married then we could survive anything after our marriage. Mark is the best and I couldnt ask for anyone better.
I love the one that I am with because I have allergies and asthma and he faithfully fills up my humidifier on a nightly basis (which I hate doing when I am tired and cranky before bed). I like to tell him that he fills my humidifier and my heart ;-)
I have to say my son, just the guy he says "bob u" (love you in toddler town) or kisses my cheek good night, it melts my heart
This isn't technically a "run-in," but I'll give it a try anyway. I saw my ex's picture and engagement announcement in the paper this week and my husband saw it later and said, "Did you see your old boyfriend in here, looks like he got a little chubby." The funny thing is this is the second week in a row that a guy I've dated is pictured in the newspaper with his engagement announcement.
Ok! I'm trying again! It seems as though I only post when I want to win something! haha! I do read faithfully, Manic!!
I too love my daughter, Lauren, she'll be 16 months old on the 20th. and we're due to have another in November.
However... I DO love my husband. The time that I realized he was "the one" was WAAAAY before we were even "together" we met in my 1st year of university and I had a lung infection. He stayed up with me until 5am making sure I could breathe properly by watching really stupid movies with me. He was SO sweet.
My hubby, because he cooks. And of course my kids, because, well because they're my kids.
Cata63--I know Mark, and that's all very true!
B--the SECOND week in a row for an ex getting engaged? Boy, did you get around or what? hee hee!
Damn, I just ruined my keyboard with drool - all I could see was "St. Martin's Press" on the pages. Dream dream dream, Kim!
Kim--does this mean you want to be entered into the contest my dear friend? Is that the one you'd love to love the one you're with? I think we'd both love that one!
I love the one I'm with (husband) because he puts up with my craziness (and I'm not talking about the good kind).
I love my family, hubby and dogs. I love my life actually!
That song got me into a lot of trouble in college. I was in a fight with my boyfriend and had left campus to go to a ski race with the ski team. The opportunity to spend some time with another skier came up and all I could think of was, "love the one your with".
Ha- psyched for another manic give away!
i love my husband because he gets up every morning with my son while I sleep in--he feeds him breakfast, gets him dressed, let's me shower leisurely! I'm not sure anyone could do anything better for me--ever!
I love my husband because he's goofy, sweet and tender inside. On the outside he's 6'4" strong, capable and dripping withe sarcasm. He tells me everyday that I'm beautiful and in case he forgot to say it,he says it like 5 more times. He spoils me, he takes care of me and he loves me.
I know life with me can be up and down and he never complains. He makes sure that I have taken my medicine for all 4 or more times a day. He takes vacation days if I'm really sick to take care of me or
if I have a big Dr's appt with the transplant center.
He would give me the stars and the moon if I asked for them. He would find a way, he just would.
Best of all, we make each other laugh for hours.
I'm also one that loves my kiddo -- for his laughter, for his total and unconditional love -- for letting me be able to be silly with him ... love, love, love my kiddo!
I love the one I am with for many reasons, here are just a few.
1) he knew I was "the one" long before I knew he was "the one" and he waited for me to come around and realize he was "the one".
2) we both want kids desperately and have had 3 setbacks. during all of that he has gone to every doc appointment (unless he has been out to sea) with me and doesn't whine or anything about going to the "downtown doc" with me.
3) despite being in the military and being gone for weeks or months at a time, he still manages to tell me how beautiful I am and how lucky HE IS to be married to me all the time. some days it is in person and other days it is via email
4) he makes me laugh out loud all the time.
5) he is my best friend.
Hey Steph, what a great story you have to tell! I love the image of you sitting there deciding whether you should put on Emily's sweater or steal it...hilarious. Okay, my love the one your with is BORING, but here it is...
I love my husband because as infuriating as he can be, he gives me all the room I need to be me. I can write instead of create a spotless home. I can spend time with the kids instead of cooking "Beaver Cleaver's Mom-type" meals. I can gain weight and he doesn't notice...can't get much better than that.
I just love him. (my husband)
there's something about him... sometimes, I just look at him, sitting on the couch, watching sports on a sunday night, and think to myself- gosh, I love that stinker. I mean, sure, we have our moments, but there is just an overwhelming sense of feeling at home with him and I can't help but love that about him.
I love my best friend because:
1. She knows all my faults and loves me anyway
2. She knows I don't mean it when I say "I'm too full to eat dessert"
3. She goes with me to the Michael Buble concert and sings along to the songs
4. She knows how to make me laugh when I'm crying
5. She told me about her favorite author, Emily Giffin, and got me hooked on all her great books!
OMG-I SO TOTALLY LOVE EMILY GIFFIN'S BOOKS!!!! I have all of them and have read and then re-read them!!!! You are too cool!!
I ran into my ex, the one that might have been it, at the video store shortly after my husband and I were married. How cliche is that? We were together during my mid-twenties when I was young and lost. Somehow, though, I found my way and our paths diverged. I was broken hearted. It is often as hard to be the leaver as it is to be left.
Fast forward five years or so post breakup to me having just run out to return the movies with no makeup and not the most flattering of outfits on, and there he is. He looked exactly the same and my heart definitely did a lurch. Which is not to say that I would EVER think about walking down that road again, my husband is the absolute light of my life, but some things never change.
We talked briefly and it was comfortable, if a bit halting. When we said goodbye with promises of getting together, I knew that I would never call him and hoped that he wouldn't call me. I cherish the time we spent together, but some things DO change.
off subject..have a wonderful mothers day!!
-march
THank YOU MARCH!!!
I love Jon because he is irreverent and respectful, brilliant and completely moronic. Because when we have next to nothing he reminds me we have everything. Because he breaks light fixtures with golf clubs and fixes the car. Because he is a ball of contradictions, a twelve year old in a giant body and because he is what I lean on even if I pretend I don't need propping.
Right now, I'm loving the ones I'm with! Picture this scene of domestic bliss, on a Friday night no less:
In the family room the movie Cars is captivating three of my four plus two of my sister's cuties. Popcorn bowls are strewn across the room and blankets and pillows abound.
In the living room, The Boss is dozing while one of my kiddoes and one niece are captivated by the Flyers playing the Penguins.
In the kitchen, muffins for breakfast cool on the stove top and my coupons and grocery lists are flung all over the island and counters. (I really should be doing that list, but I remembered your contest in the middle of the job!)
Good enough for you? I really wanna win this time :)
I love the one I'm with for the simple reason that it means I never have to wash dishes. Or touch things that end up in the sink. Yuck!
I'm a romantic, aren't I?
Hmmm why do I love the one I'm with? I love when he holds my belly (we're expecting another baby)and whispers at our growing bean.
I love the way he scoops my daughter out of her crib in the morning and makes her smile. Little does he know I'm watching and it makes me melt.
We have our tough times yes, what relationship doesnt but I know that we CAN get through it.
Hey, not stopping by to enter the contest but rather to wish you happy Mother's Day tomorrow.
- D.
One of the reasons I love my husband so much is because of the way he is with our children. He loves playing with them or just hanging out with them.
Kari--is this Kari Townsend? Assuming it is!
Love the one you're with...
To me, the most important part of this statement is to love YOURSELF first!
Believe me, this revelation has been a long time coming.
Then, of course, I'm reminded of the flock of butterflys that invaded my tummy when my now hubby sat next to me, his leg so close I could feel the heat, hair still wet from his shower.
This was 18 years ago and I still feel flushed everytime I smell Irish Spring soap!
When I was in college I ran into an old boyfriend who I hadn't seen in 8 years. He comes up to me on the day I happen to have had a miscarriage that morning. I had to take a test for a class that was the only reason for being there.
I looked horrible. I think I scared him and he was probably glad he still wasn't with me.
By the way I was married to my wonderful Hubby who has been there through good times and bad.
The very first time I met my husband, he made fun of me. If we'd been younger, he would have pulled my braids. He makes me laugh, he makes me think, he cares for me... He's strong enough to spar with me, but he's not a bully. He's rude and sarcastic just like me. We don't have to be doing something special to be together. He encourages me and there could not be anyone in the world who could be better for me or make me happier.
P.S. And he fixes everything in the house and the cars. And he likes opera.
My laptop. Because he lets me meet all these fabulous people in the blogging world all through this little computer box.
I love my husband because he's steady, passionate, and a total hottie.
I love my dog because she's adorable, mellow, and hysterically funny.
Does that count as two entries???
So, it was 1991 and I ended a long dysfuctional relationship with my college-fraternity-druggy boyfriend...actually HE ended multiple times prior each time he cheated on me...
So, that's a difficult three years to bounce back from, right? Feelin' a "sorority-girl-scorned" act coming on?
Yep...Two years later I MARRIED HIS ROOMMATE!!!
15 years later - we are still BLISSFULLY in love!!!
I'm with my 2 yr old right now and my hubby. I love them both so much! And why? Well because today my toddler had a nasty poop explosion that no diaper could contain, and I was on the phone with my mother, so hubby in a very rare moment agreed to change the diaper. He was gagging and screaming for help and I just ignored his pleas cuz I was laughing so hard and so was my mother on the other end of the phone, so I had to run and hide. So that's why I love them so much - because they gave me the best laugh today and I will remember that one for a very long time!
"I got an 8:00 a.m. text from son wanting to know if we enjoyed waking up together. At that moment I was the only one awake, but it was not long before I heard, "Good morning, Mama." Turning my head it was indeed a *most* enjoyable moment to see the gray, bald headed man to whom I first turned my head 47 years ago for a date. He was looking and sounding quite chipper this Saturday morning. No less for me. There was even more strength to my legs.
Yes, son, we surely did enjoy waking together. Not only a smile, but the memory later now, brings a few tears. You should have seen him riding my chair down the middle of Hearn yesterday to get it to the rear of the Expedition. I giggled as a school girl at the sight of this elderly man coming towards me as I sat and waited for him. There is a difference in laughter and giggling you know, don't you? You and your sister should have seen your mom and dad. Well, on second thought, maybe you shouldn't. *giggle*"
I can't believe I have just come from just posting in my blog about the wonder of our first day back home together after being apart for a bit over a week, me with our daughter, husband with our son.
Whew! Where do I start? Don't Panic Manic! I'll try to keep it short. We have just come through the most emotional week of our entire 46 years together. For us, THAT is saying a LOT!!
April 30th Jim entered surgery for robotic prostate cancer surgery (yes, a robot would actually do the procedure) only to have it stopped because of the discovery of an unidentifiable mass. The mass was removed; the surgery halted; we started the wait.
We had to wait one whole week to find out if this was was some extra *bad* stuff to be tacked on to the already existing cancer tissue, or **what**? I did a "The Week" in my blog beginning the Sunday prior to his surgery. It was the *scariest* week of my life, and I have a rare, incurable disease that has me bedridden while we search for control and remission. Jim is my total caretaker, and we have been through MUCH together. We only *thought* we loved one another. Read my blog to find out what Senior Citizen Love is all about. Just thinking about it as I type makes me giggle with tears welling in my eyes. I'd LOVE for Emily to read my blog, and I would LOVE to read her books because that would mean I could SEE!! We have added a new dimension to our lives now; the cancer surgery is yet to come. Monday is my next IVIG; they put a port in last month for the blood product delivery. I'd love to have a book to read next month!
Ragdoll Billie on the
Road to Remission
Wow, I'm so envious that you get to hang out with Emily. I've read and LOVED all her books!!!! Can't wait to read this one.
Oh yes.... love the one you're with.... you know it made me think of my kids too....
How I knew I loved my then boyfriend/now husband:
We were dating long distance, I was living in Michigan and he was out in Boston. It was Christmas time and and I was working in a dead end awful job. I made almost no cash. I wasn't sure I would be able to afford the gas to get home. In general- I was wallowing in my own misery.
One day I came home from work and the owner of the florist was there- he said he had to make this delivery himself. It was a six foot tree, lights and ornaments. Then there was a card with cash so I could see my family.
A tree. sigh. When he sent the tree I knew I would marry him someday.
All I know is that this book sounds TOTALLY like my life and I am TOTALLY sneaking out of work to buy it on Tuesday because I don't trust Amazon to have it waiting on my doorstep when I get home. AND it got 3 1/2 stars in People! That is HUGE!
Did I tell you about when I spied on my old boyfriend on a business trip? It is the greatest story ever. I hadn't seen him in years and I just wanted to see what he looked like. I saw him, watched him for a few minutes, and then I was like, yup, made the right decision. Didn't talk to him or anything. It was awesome.
P.S. Happy Mother's Day and IM me tomorrow!!!
I love the one I'm with because just when the going gets rough and I think I don't love him so much, he surprises me and does something so sweet that I just can't resist him. Darn! 20 years and still loving strong.
It's not yet midnight in CA so hopefully this entry still counts!
I love the one I'm with because he loved me even when I couldn't love myself.
