Author: Julie Metz
Website: http://www.perfectionbook.com/index.html
Julie Metz had her Oprah moment, but she probably didn’t expect it would come about the way it unfolded.
Married and living the seemingly happy life, with an adorable six-year-old daughter in the suburbs, Julie’s life changed forever when her husband unexpectedly collapsed and died in their kitchen.
You’d think that’d be the worst the world would give you, right? Not for Julie. Months later, she discovered a betrayal that would have her question her whole marriage. Her husband had been leading a separate life and had been, in fact, having affairs with not one, but multiple women (at least five), and one of them being a very close friend of Julie’s.
Perfection is the story of how Julie overcomes the betrayal and rebuilds her life and identity after becoming a widow and finding out her husband had been an adulterer. It’s a moving memoir and Julie is a testament to all women who face any kind of adversity in their lives!
Read an excerpt here.
And here’s a wonderful video of Julie describing some moments in her life and also some FAQs you might be wondering about regarding her experience.

Nothing in life ever seems perfect, except maybe on occasion, like Sunday morning just staying in bed, or having an evening with friends full of laughter where for a moment you let go of the worries.
So much in life isn't perfect and what appears perfect to one may be a nightmare for another. BUT these things, to me, are perfect - quiet Saturday mornings with a mug of tea, the smell of the ocean on a warm morning, laughing with true friends, hearing my cell phone ring and not only is it not work but a good friend or family, the smell of freshly baked cake, cupcakes or cookies. Another great way to start the day!
Dinner with husband, petting my Golden Retriever, watching my 3 girls laugh together, the feeling after a long run and eating ice cream. All are my ideas of perfect!
Perfection... When all four kids are home, we have nowhere to go or "be", house is clean and the sun is shining... that's it!
Thank you for all the fun and all the book recommendations and reviews and blog intro's! You are the bestest!
Christine
beach
sitting in a chair
drink of choice in one hand
kindle in the other
family playing in the ocean
so relaxing
True perfection makes me itchy. I'd rather have unpainted nails going to an interview than look completely put together - its a jinx. Just begging for the universe to piss on ya.
But perfect moments? Usually involve my little man, when the big man is around to share in them. Voluntarily slipping his hand in mine to toddle off for a bedtime story. Spontaneous hugs. Mastering a new skill I've been working with him on for months.
Or just getting through dinner without spaghetti ending up on the BACK of his head.
Perfect to me is being home on a rainy day with nothing to do but watch movies all day long.
Perfection to me is being at your happiest and healthiest state that is possible for you. Everyone's perfection is different. The perfect day for me, for example, would be to be laying in the son with a frosty drink and good book while my son laughs and splashes in his pool and my husband hums and barbecues me a delicious meal!
A lazy day when I can sleep, have nothing to do, can curl up with a book and do not have to leave the house is always absolutely perfect.
- Amanda Leigh
Hmm...what's perfect to me is when there is something that turns out better than I imagined. Sometimes I get so excited about something that there's no way it can meet my expectations...and then it does...and then some. It happens so infrequently that I really do appreciate it when it does. I have a lot of special moments...but rarely does it all come together in a way where I know that God has shown me tremendous favor in spite of the fact that I am such an imperfect creature. But they make life worth living...and are those pages in our lives that we turn down the corner to re-reference...or that we highlight and go back to again and again. All of life is special...but some things just defy explanation...and I'm very happy that they are there to balance out those what the? moments. :) ktmixon315
While my daughter might not be "perfect" I wouldn't change a thing about her, and to me that's perfection :)
Thanks for this great giveaway!!!

Perfection was my day yesterday...it was a perfect spring day, my 5yr old daughter got up without a fight, she had a great day at daycare, was wonderful when we got home, we had a great meal from the grill, she got ready for bed when asked (that is usually a fight), she read me her book, I read her a book and she went to bed peacefully. We had a great evening as a family! I wish I could bottle those days up because they seem to be few and far between. :)
Thanks again for this month+ long book give-away!

Perfection to me is sitting on my front porch on a rainy day in a comfy chair reading a book while listening to the thunderstorms with tea or wine to drink.
My idea of perfection is when spring is in full bloom!
Nothing is perfect but my perfect resting spot right now is Vanderbilt beach in Naples, FL

What do I think is absolutely perfect? A fresh pedicure :)

Perfection is sitting on a beach chair under an umbrella, with a fruity drink and a good book in hand! Also alongside of you someone that you love. now that's perfect.
perfect is a great day with the husband and boys with everyone getting along, doing our favorite things and making each other laugh - these days are rare but I cherish them!
Sorry!! Forgot to sign!
Perfection is cuddling on the couch: fiance on one side and one (or both) of our dogs at our feet.
Crystal717
Perfect is me, 30 pounds slimmer and in the perfect cocktail dress I've been eyeing for months. Ugh...perfect is hard work sometimes.
marrying erik on karen's beach at sunset, dinner at veya to celebrate, honeymoon at karen's house.
Wow, "perfect" is scary to me because I then think "fragile." Weird, right? I'm so much more content with "imperfect"... time with my family is what I would think of as perfectly imperfect. :)
Thanks, MM, for a great month of fun and good books!!
A lazy day of no obligations is my perfect day. I love it when I don't have to be anywhere at a certain time. I can just go from place to place at a whim!
Perfection: Feeling great (physically and emotionally) about yourself.
But, sitting on the beach with your toes in the water reading a book on a beautiful warm, sunny day is a close second! :)
I think my children are perfect! Except, you know, when they are driving me crazy!
kathygold9778
Perfection to me is having a day to myself where I feel great and can relax on the couch with a never ending supply of tea and books!
My baby boy is a week old today and my heart aches every time I look at him. He's as close to perfection as I''m ever going to see.

Hearing my three sweet nieces giggle is about the most perfect sound you can think of!
Falling asleep on my parents' couch after a meal together. Listening to my husband tell me a funny story and cracking himself up before he even gets to the funny part. Spending a summer afternoon playing and laughing with my friends.
Amy Nichole G
Perfection is a cup of coffee and nothing on the calendar for that day! Ronit W
My niece is perfect. But a perfect day is being in Rome, sipping wine, and people watching.
Jana B

A walk in the woods on a crisp Fall day. Perfection
Perfect is the way my dog curves against me, his little body rising and falling with each breath. Perfect is the way my nose presses into my boyfriend's cheek.
Saturday mornings....
Everyone in jammies, kids playing, me drinking coffee, not rushing anywhere for anything.
Its perfect when there is a raging snowstorm going on but the whole family is safe & snug inside together with nowhere to go.
whoops, forgot to change my google log in from my PTO site. "Hubbardston" is me, Kirsten :-)
First day of the year it is warm enough to run the beach boardwalk without a jacket...perfect every year!
I'm afraid perfection is out of reach; but I've learned that 'acceptable' is attainable, and much easier on the nerves! Being held to someone elses idea of 'perfection' nearly killed me years ago, and is making too many young girls sick.
Perfection is when everyone is home, we have no plans and can be lazy all day. Melissa Rem
Perfection is laughing so hard that you cry.
My idea of perfection is summertime on my patio with all of my family around me, drinking bucket drinks and watching the kiddos play, then having the men grill our meal.
Those little moments...you know you just are going through your day and you see your little boy walk over and hug his sister for no reason, your husband looks at you just right, contentment fills you up for those few moments and you smile and know it's all yours and you are the luckiest women alive :) perfect.

Perfection to me is a Sunday at home with my family with nothing to do. The house is clean, the laundry is done, the kitchen stocked, the windows are open with a nice spring breeze, everyone is happy, healthy, and getting along. With 3 teenage girls, this doesn't happen very often, but when it does it is perfection!
my wedding day is going to be!
a day when everything i have planned to do gets done!
Perfection is realizing your family is happy , we have good jobs and love
Sunday mornings...I sleep in, catch up on politics, drink coffee with my husband and dogs, and await the wake-up of my twelve year old
I need this book! I'm going through trust issues after finding out more and more of the lies that went on with my daughters father! I'm definetly going to read this book!!!
The things I think are perfect are my childern they are perfect to me!!
Perfection for me is laying out by the pool with friends and drinks on a sunny day. I wish it could happen more often! Thanks for all the great giveaways this month. My to-read list has really expanded!
a sunny day out on the lake in the adirondacks, or a blue sky day of skiing on perfectly groomed trails. and sleeping in on sunday mornings.
There doesn't seem to be much in life that is perfect. For me, perfect is when my boyfriend and I are at a concert and a slow song comes on, he reaches out and holds my hand.

A day to lay by the pool, read a book, and relax
Angelini197
Climbing in the mountains with my husband, holding my nieces, spending time with family and friends, drinking wine while watching the sunset, splashing in the water on the beach.
Thanks for a great month of suggested reading - my "To Read" list is now huge!

A day at home with the three kids happy and occupied in their own world so that my husband and I can spend time together. Since perfection never happens a few stolen moments will have to do.
Vacation, whether it be out of town or just staying home, long weekends, summer Sunday mornings reading my paper and having coffee in the yard. Spending time with friends and family, laughing and enjoying each other's company.
Perfection is pretty simple to me. A morning spent in bed with coffee and hubby. Petting the 2 cats and knowing my kids are happy, healthy and safe.
Thanks for all the info on the books.
Perfection is a secluded beach - just walking along the shoreline or sitting and watching the waves breaking. With a brilliant blue sky overhead.
There's not anything that I would consider perfect, but there are those moments in life that come completely out of the blue that end up being perfect. Playing with play-doh with my 3 year old goddaughter, snuggling my husband on the couch, laughing with amazing friends.
qweska8402
Hearing a baby's belly laugh is just about as perfect as it gets!
Thanks for the great month, Manic!

Well, I am pretty sure this contest has been close to perfect for me this month but I have to say my Lord Jesus Christ.
Wendi fr Louisiana
Perfect.....my husband and my children.
Debydew110
This past Sunday evening was perfect; dinner on the back porch with my husband (a dinner he cooked and cleaned up after:)).
It takes a long time and a lot of experiences to realize that life will never be perfect. But - for me a perfect moment is when the sun is shining, my daughter is having a good time and my husband and I are laughing and appreciating all that we have. We need to stop and not worry about anything else once in a while and realize how lucky we are. that's as close to perfect as we can get.
A sunny spring day....with daffodils and tulips...is perfect!
A perfect time is laughing and having fun with our great friends, and all else in the world is tuned out except for that moment!
Snuggling with my guy, curling up in bed with a book on a rainy day, new sweatpants on freshly shaven legs....just perfect. :) CariLynn
I'm on the east side of the island of Oahu. Toes dangling in the water, pool boy in one hand, book in the other.

A warm fall day when the leaves begin to turn into brilliant colors and you have nothing else to do, but to take a walk through the woods.
A perfect day is great coffee in the morning, a few hours at the dog park and a quiet candle lit night at home.
Vacation with my husband. It doesn't matter where we go, how fancy the hotel or destination is, or if we are on a tight budget; it is always perfect.
Carly Haynes
My idea of perfection involves time-traveling back to when I was eight and could spend the WHOLE weekend in my Nana's basement with my cousin/best friend and play make-believe. However, if I can't time travel, plop me on a float in the lake with a beer and sunglasses, and I'm good to go.
A warm breezy day at the beach
A perfect day is going on a bike ride with my husband.
-tmd636

Right now, perfection would be sleeping in, then nothing to do all day but read books and watch movies while my husband brings me lattes and food from my favorite places. But with 3 kids... well a girl can dream right? :)
I think my grandmother's chocolate icing is absolutely perfect. Even though it turned out to be the recipe on the chocolate label, it is still the perfect topping to any cake (or spoon).
Perfection to me is having a day off with nothing planned and just being able to do whatever I want when I want to do it. I love waking up and decided a walk on the beach would be nice. Then deciding I want to see my God daughters and just relax on a blanket while they play together. Perfection is being surrounded by friends and family enjoying good food and great company. Its when my boyfriends two and a half year old gets on the phone and asks why I'm not there with them. Or how he cries when they drop me off or when I buckle him in and don't get in the front seat.
sitting outside on a warm sunny day, with a book while my kids run around playing(and not fighting!).
Cooking dinner and staying in watching a movie with my boyfriend is pretty perfect...

A beer on the couch with my husband...watching a movie!!
my adorable little snuggly pup is perfect!
Is McDonalds a valid answer? Sigh. What's perfect... My dog Bear is perfect. Even when he acts like a butthead. My parents are perfect. Even when they don't do things I want, I'd still rather have them do that then not be there at all... I don't necessarily think something "perfect" has to be flawless... It's in the eye of the beholder.
Sitting on the beach on a not too hot day with a good book...or being curled up on the couch with a warm blanket, some hot chocolate and a good book during a snow storm! Both are my idea of a perfect day. :)
That's a tough one. My idea of perfection is trying to be the best wife, mother and friend you can possibly be. Does that make me perfect? No, but it's the best I've got!!
I will take a pass on this book because I've read it and it is breathtaking...
Lying in the sun on a warm (but not super hot) day! If my boyfriend, friends and margaritas are also involved it's even better!!

My husband's laugh...
Nothing in life is perfect. If it was, life would be pretty boring. There are perfect moments in time, like when you are laughing with great friends or spending quiet time with your child. I do my best to cherish these moments before they fade away.
My most perfect moment is in the morning when my 3 yr old son comes to my bed. He will tug on the covers until I wake up. As soon as I open my eyes, I see him standing there, with the sweetest smile on his face. Absolutely perfect.
My idea of perfect is a rainy day, curled up under a blanket with a good book and no one in the house to bother me while I am enjoying some quiet time! jennyfromthecube
Like many others said, my idea of perfect is when all four of my kids are healthy and safe in our home, everyone is getting along, hubby is home and we all have a weekend morning to sleep in and snuggle. That, and a perfectly hot cup of Italian Roast coffee with half and half and 2 teaspoons of sugar...perfect. :)
i think 'perfection' is an illusion...
