SPIN (Again!) by Catherine McKenzie

Congrats to:
Emily116
Please email full name and address to stephanieelliot@gmail.com so I can send you SPIN!

I’ve had Catherine McKenzie on MaNiC MoMMy numerous times previously, and have given away SPIN before, but this one is a killer book, I just love her writing and this book is NOW finally YAY, horray, out in the US! It was first published in Catherine’s home of Canada, but we who live in the lower 50 (is that what we say down here?) can now get it! I’m so enthralled with Catherine’s fast-paced and witty writing, and you will be too, if you’re not already a fan. She’s written Spin, Arranged, and another that will be debuting later this summer. I’ll be sharing all of them with you here on MaNiC. She’s truly a fabulous writer. Heck, everyone I feature is great, or else I wouldn’t be telling you about them, but I really, really adore Catherine’s writing. AND, she seems as warm and personable on FB and in emails as she does on the pages of her books!

SPIN: Katie is the typical party girl and goes out to celebrate her 30th birthday, which also happens to be on the eve of a very important job interview for the music mag, THE LINE. When she arrives at the job interview still drunk from the night before, it’s no surprise she doesn’t get the job. What does surprise her is they ask her to go into rehab to follow IT girl Amber Shepherd, write the tell-all expose, and then they’ll give her the job she actually wants. What Katie never expected when she goes into rehab to get the goods on Amber, was that maybe she did need rehab after all, and that maybe she might just actually become friends with Amber. What she does when she gets out of rehab will surprise everyone, even Katie.

I loved SPIN because it was a little like peeking into the life of Lindsay Lohan in rehab, and the ways that Katie matures during her rehab stint shows that it’s possible for even the most skeptical to gain a little insight in rehab. And yes, there’s also a little love connection going on in rehab too, so you won’t want to miss out on SPIN!

Learn more about Catherine and her books here:

If you’d like to win SPIN leave a comment telling me who your guilty pleasure celebs are to stalk? I always love to hear what’s going on in their lives, but really hate when a couple I think are going to make it file for divorce! NO one makes it in Hollywood! Which celebs do you love to read about? Tell me and you could win SPIN!

Don't FORGET to enter to win the previous book, Julia's Child, and also come back later in the week for Val Frankel's Four of a Kind!

Remember, MaNiC MoMMy is aiming to feature great books each and every week this year, and you’ll have a chance to win it as well! Please stop by often AND MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE PREVIOUS POSTS as I’m now posting new books more than once a week! Open to US/Canada residents only, and thanks to all the participating authors and publicists for providing the books.

Check back on this post in a few days to see if you’ve been chosen, and as long as there is not a highlighted winner’s name on the top of the blog post, you may enter to win any of the previous books being offered. One entry per person as always! Please include an email address or a uniquely identifying user name when entering to win!

all of them... my husband thinks I'm a wealth of knowledge when it comes to crazy hollywood info, or what actor/actress played in movies because I am a junkie when it comes to this!

Honestly for the most part I don't get too caught up in the drama when it comes to celeb's but I have to admit when Madonna is mentioned still from time to time my ears perk up. I guess cause I was a fan as a kid and she still fascinates me really.

I am kind of out of the celeb stalking at the moment but I used to be really into stalking the Kardashians-but if I had to pick one it would probably be Neal Patrick Harris and his cutie pie partner!!

I love to read about all celebrities. I used to love reading about Nicole Richie but she's not doing anything exciting anymore. I love to read about Regis Philbin because he's my favorite celebrity! I love him so much and miss him!

Thanks!

I am a People magazine junkie. It is easier to list who I don't like to read about! I could care less about the reality TV "stars". I will skip over any article on the Kardashians, the real housewives, the Jersey shore cast, Paris Hilton, etc., etc.

I'll pretty much read about anyone except reality tv "stars". They drive me crazy. :)

BrendaL71 said...

I'm sure there are other but the only one that comes to mind right now is Queen Latifah. I have always admired her music and acting career. I admire her because she seems the most down to earth of any celebrity out there after everything she has done. Ok, maybe I thought of one more: Ricky Martin. I don't really go crazy about other celebs.

I'm not into any specific celeb. Just heavily into TMZ. :) I love EVERYONE & EVERYTHING they report on. The whole staff cracks me up during TMZ Live every day @ 1:30PST. And on the TV show & just in the way they write the stories.

Hmm. I guess my guilty pleasure celeb-stalking would have to go to the Kardashians. Especially Klohe. After that, would be Paris Hilton.. followed up with all of the Real Housewives. LOL hush! :P

Thank you so much for doing them for all of your readers!

No one in particular...I'm an equal opportunity stalker! ;) If only I spent as much time doing productive work stuff as I do on TMZ or People.com!

equinn726 said...

I love reading about all of them through people.com. Whomever is featured is fun to read and I really like reading about couples like Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck who seem to be truly committed to eachother. There's so much divorce out there and quite frankly, couples who stay together are more interesting to me.

Robert Downey Jr....I love him and was way too happy when his baby was finally born :)

Not into any particular actress/actor. I end up being more obsessed with the actual shows they are in. Top of my list at this time is Sons of Anarchy, Cougar Town and Happy Endings to name a few.

My brain is chock full of random pop culture knowledge and I'm pleased to have good girlfriends who are as up on this stuff as I am so we talk, talk, talk about it all! :)

I can't think of any particulars, but I love to stalk the ones I follow on Twitter. It makes them feel so accessible. I follow most of the Diamondbacks, Jerry Seinfield, Jason Segal, and some local celebs like Matt from KNIX and the Fox10 a.m. crew. Oh, and some local book lady named Stephanie. :)

Perfect timing for this post. I just has my 32nd birthday this weekend and I went out and partied like I was 22 again. I'm feeling my age today that is for sure. I would have to say Claire Danes, however you don't get much gossip on her lately. I've loved her since My So Called Life so I'm always interested in what she is up too.
