BABY BUMPS by Amy Sprenger

Baby Bumps: The Almost, Barely, Not-Quite-True Story of Pregnancy, Bed Rest and One Batshit Crazy Family

This book may win the award for the longest title ever. It also has a swear word in the title, and the author, who happens to be a real-life friend of mine is, I am sure, thrilled with the fact that she not only has a book published, but that it includes a SWEAR WORD on the front cover! Because Amy is that kind of chick! LOL!

And I love her for that!

Baby Bumps is the hilarious sort-of-made-up-totally-true-fictional-memoir about what happens when a mom-to-be gets her va-jay-jay stitched up and lands on bed rest. Author Amy Sprenger is the master-mind behind the fab and famous blog, Snarky Mommy and much of her snark is carried over in her writing in Baby Bumps. You'll laugh at the antics and wonder, "Oh my God, did THAT really happen to her?" One may never know! This is a great fun read for anyone you know who has ever had a baby, or who is pregnant now!
You can read more about Amy here at Beyond the PagePublishing, which is all types of official stuff, or you can check out her awesomely funny Snarky Mommy blog, which will have you cracking up.

PS to Amy: I got you beat in the making babies department because even though you had to be on bed rest and get your vagigity sewn up, I had my three kids in a shorter time span than you had your three kids, and I betcha mine all weighed more than yours did because I weigh a lot more than you do. So there! But you birthed your book sooner than I did, so I guess you win at that.

CONGRATS!!! xo

You can win Baby Bumps on Booking with Manic here. Simply tell me if you know anyone who is Batshit crazy and why that person is Batshit crazy??? You can't say ME! If you win this book, you can request it in paperback or e-book form.

If you haven't entered to win Amy Hatvany's The Language of Sisters, head over there to enter to win now by clicking HERE -- I will choose winners for both of these books over the weekend, and I'll have another book posted this week too! Am sorry I've been slow to post lately but am getting back on track, I promise! Thanks for sticking around, and please share this blog with your book-loving friends!

NEW TO BOOKING WITH MANIC?

If you're new to Booking with Manic, thank you for stopping by! We love new readers! Some notes - If you're entering to win a book, please use an identifying name and it's usually a great idea to include an email, which I will never give out to anyone else. You can only enter once please. You'll need to check back here in about a week or so to see if you've won the book -- I will highlight the winner's name at the top of this post, or tell you where you can find the winner's name at the top of this post. Most books are supplied directly through publishers, publicists and the authors. Winners will receive books directly from the publisher within 3 weeks from the time you provide me with your address, unless I send you the book (sometimes I will). Sorry, but we can only ship to U.S. and Canada so if you're from another country, thank you for coming by to read and discover new authors, but we can't send you a book. Any questions on how I run the blog or suggestions on who you would like to see featured, please email me at stephanieelliot@gmail.com. Thank you for your support!

Bat shit crazy--that is definitely my sister in law! She is from Spain and lives according to what she reads in her tarot cards. She has done some really wild things over the years.

My sister is getting there. She and her husband have dolls as children. They take them on trips, have birthday parties and o' so much more. They have three of them and they are about 6" tall and plastic. She even cried once when we took her to the airport cause she left her "children" at my parents house.

Um, yes I do. Batshit crazy seems to be rampant on my father's side. Fortunately that gene seemed to skip my immediate family!

Yes, I do. My mother is crazy. No seriously, she has been committed a few times. But instead of the "crazy" crazy she used to be, now she is just regular crazy, I guess it went away with age lol.

My mother in law , is the winner hands down!

My mother's sister is BATSHIT CRAZY. She disowns her own family members (including her own children) for no good reason. I wrote her off a LONG time ago b/c I don't need that kind of drama!! LOL!!!

Anyway....that's all I got.

Heart You, Manic!! Nan XO

A friend I met not to long ago, she is a loud talked, quotes parts of songs out of the blue in a regular sentence, she is APESHIT saying it all the time, and as my grandma would say full of piss and vinegar, just a nice all around gal!

Megan said...

Oh my, I can only choose one?! My Grandmother takes the cake then. She is so hilarious but so batcrap crazy.

accidentalgypsy said...

Oh, how do I choose? :) My grandmother is batshit crazy because she's ungrateful for all the things my mom and dad do for her and my grandfather (e.g. they live with my parents) and she's borderline pathological liar, and my mom is batshit crazy because she's dealt with my grandmother her entire life, and then I have a friend batshit crazy and delusional (e.g. she's smoked for 12 years, and just because she's never told her parents, she thinks they don't know...and she lived with her parents for 8 of the past 12 years. um, unless they don't have a sense of smell they know!) :)

No question-my mother-in-law. For so many reasons. My daughter has never met her, and I'm not sure I want her to!

My ex-step grandmother. She was my step-grandmother but since my grandfather died and she is bat shit crazy I think she gets to be an ex. She tried to steal money from him when he was dying. At the funeral she told my mom to come over as soon as the service was over to get every picture of his grandchildren. She wanted everything that was ours or that we had given him out of the house that very day. Then she walked out of the church and said "have a nice life."

I think my boyfriends mom is batshit crazy! We've mentioned it to her before that she always posts negative remarks & comments on ANYTHING either of us post up. Here's my latest example. Last night he posted some lyrics up on FB: "Ive got to keep on chasing that dream, though i may never find it. im always just behind it" And her response to that was: "You can't chase a dream. You have to reach for it~!" We know she's clueless on the lyric part, but why say anything at all, when what you have to say is twisted & evil sounding? BATSHIT CRAZY...that's why! LOL

Um, I'd have to go with my entire family. Not must my immediate family, but my entire extended family as well. There's a saying "We're one clown short of a circus.". Not my family. we found the clown. we're definitely a circus.

My friend Kristen is Bats**t crazy in the best possible way. Bad Karaoke? check. Walking up to total strangers to ask them about their style? check. Asking questions at in appropriate times? check. Pushing her way into parties or closed meetings? check. Spouting off her political opinions regardless of audience? check. She's taught me to be more outgoing and let my 'freak flag' fly a little more often and I will always admire her for that.

I have an acquainance once that takes the cake. The craziest moment - telling us that the guy she married was 'so sweet and considerate' for not telling her he had a child until after they were married, because he didn't want to upset her.

Melissa said...

Oh gosh, pretty much my whole family, but if I narrow it down I would pick my aunt. Mel Rem

Melissa said...

I don't personally stay connected with anyone who is batshit crazy. I knew this girl a long time ago who was playing for the other team but married a guy anyway and then divorced him shortly after. She was just wacko in general. She had this insane sense of humor that appealed to me in college, but it was beyond bizarre at times. In any case, I am friends with her ex-husband and have nothing to do with her now.

My co-worker Lynette, I love her dearly, but batshit crazy is exactly what she it!

A guy i work with would probably qualify as batsit crazy! He's border- line hoarder, he'll have his topic of the day and spout of to anyone and everyone about it (and most of the time it's political in nature and inappropriate for the work place) and he's just out there some days!!! Nice guy, but crazy!

Kimmi said...

The client that just left here is batshit crazy, because after spending 2 years trying to divorce her husband and finally hammering out a settlement agreement, she decided to give it another try with the &@%$#.

Leslie said...

My mom and I call her oldest sister exactly that! She quarterly letters to the family talking about life on the farm (she lives alone now and it is a crop farm not animal) where all of the barn cats and forest animals talk in the letter. Not just "Hey", but full on conversations happen. The talks can be about politics, comings and gpoings around the property, sports, the other "slutty" animals, etc. Entertaining to read - should have been a children's author - but CRAZY! LeslieGC

My neighbor....she has these adult temper tantrums in her driveway that involve throwing things and ranting and raving so loud that you can hear her with the windows down and the A/C on. They are so ridiculous that you don't know whether to laugh or call the police. I'm pretty sure half of the neighborhood is afraid of her.

Unfortunately, I think I might be batshit crazy. Although they say if you think you're crazy, then you're probably ok - so here's hoping!

A woman who works in my office. She comes in almost every day with a new story about the ghosts who live in her house...and that's fine, but the way she says it and the gleeful/manic look in her eyes is a little scary. And then one day she came in and shared that she thinks there is a portal to the afterlife in her bedroom because sometimes at night she can hear dead people talking right near her ear...

I'm happy to say I don't have those people in my life. I have no room for it even thought I guess some family members are borderline but I don't notice as much as others probably because I'm right there with them. LOL!
