The Wedding Beat
By Devan Sipher
I was really psyched for this one because guess what, it’s like chick lit but written by a man and from a man’s point of view! Yay! A man should have to search for love too!
“The Wedding Beat by Devan Sipher tells the classic New York story of boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy assigned to write article about girl’s wedding.”
I’ve not yet had a chance to read it, but early reviews say that fans of Emily Giffin (MY FAVE!), Jennifer Weiner (another great!), Lauren Weisberger and Jonathan Tropper will love this book. And another one of my favorites, Laura Dave, said this of the book: "A fresh and fun take on finding (and committing to) love."
How can you go wrong with a line-up like THAT!
So the author, Devan Sipher, is a real-life wedding columnist, and has written about more than one thousand weddings. That's a LOT of cake! Do you think he gets to eat cake at all those weddings?
He has written for the New York Times “Vows” column. So he’s got a TON of insight on weddings. You KNOW he’s slipped a few real secrets into his fiction, which is what I love about books like this one and Devil Wears Prada – secrets from the industry are bound to be included.

Here’s the blurb:
Gavin Greene isn't only a hopeless romantic, he's a professional one: He writes the wedding column for a prize-winning newspaper, covering A-list parties from coast to coast. But there's a thin line between being a hotshot reporter on assignment...and being a single guy alone on a Saturday night.
Everything changes on New Year's when Gavin meets Melinda, a travel writer with an adventurous spirit. A moonlit walk across a Manhattan rooftop seems to seal the deal, but she slips away.
Gavin crisscrosses New York City to find her again. And he learns there's something worse than losing the woman of his dreams—having to write an article about her wedding.

If you’d like a chance to win The Wedding Beat, tell me something that happened at a wedding that was interesting or exciting. I’ll tell you one: The first wedding Mr. Manic and I attended after we had our first child, somehow, he and I ended up in an empty CLOSET at the hotel. Uh-huh, OH YES WE DID!!!!!
