TuRN oFF THe TV WeeK

So, maybe you all didn't know it's Turn Off the TV Week. My kids all came home from school and said, "It's Turn Off the TV Week! And if we don't watch TV the whole week, our principal is going to give us a special prize!"

Well, you can imagine what I said, right? I said, "Hey kids, listen to this. How about I say YOU CAN watch all the TV you want this week, and then whatever the prize is that the principal is giving out, I will give you a bigger and better prize than that."

Because come on!? What kid can go a whole week without TV? Who am I kidding? What mom can go a whole week with NO TV for her kids to entertain them!

I need SpongeBob and Patrick to put them in a trance around 5 or 5:30 every day! I want to hear the iCarly theme song from the family room while I'm busy doing my thing in here. I crave Hannah for them!

Because them watching a little bit of TV is my sanity! I do not instill any TV rules on my kids because I know that whenever they have the chance, they'd much rather be playing outside doing fun stuff. Their first choice is never TV unless they need some downtime or just want to chill. And they're kids, so if that's what they want to do sometimes, I'm going to let them.

But, today is Tuesday of Turn Off the TV Week and they still wanted NO TV. Fine with me, we'll find something else to do, right?

Well, we had a little dress-up, makeover, and nail salon party this afternoon.

What do you think of my new little girl? Ain't she a doll?

Glad to see the kids are having fun without the tv. Hopefully, things will continue to go well for the rest of the week. :)

Um, duh, watching dvd's on the computer is NOT cheating. Or xDisney, if I'm remembering correctly, that we used in a pinch when the satellite was malfunctioning.

I remember this form last year - I think it's more about shaming parents who don't do stuff with their kids into realising it and doing something about it. Worst part is I reckon it all goes back to their normal the second the No TV week's over.

Your kids always look happy and healthy to me - even if Diva has a food issue - so I'd say you had it about right.

Is it wrong that I would rather my kids choose to watch tv than do anything else? Also? That my I am disappointed my 2 year old would rather do ANYTHING else than watch tv?!! What is wrong with her?

Oh, please turn the tv back on! That poor boy is going to hate these pictures in about three years. :)

ROFL - you are a fun mom. Crazy, but fun!

Tukey would make for a HOT little girl - in his auntie's humble opinion!

He's so pretty! My boys would rather be run over by a car than put on nail polish and a dress! No little girls for me, not even for a few minutes! UGH!

Good luck with no tv, I need it on just for background noise to keep me from going nuts!

I think its just not right that No TV Week falls during a sweeps month. That is just wrong.

Wow. You just drove those therapy bills way up here, Steph ;) I love the party.

And no tv week? We actually can do that, but there are other reasons for that one. I just figure I've got until next year before the tv starts going on constantly AND I hear about no tv week from school :) It's a doubly whammy!
