JeN WeiNeR GiVeaWay!

In the midst of all this Arizona move crap, I wanted to bring in some fun and what more fun is GIVING AWAY BOOKS FROM two of my favorite authors in the next few posts? First up in this post is Jennifer Weiner's Best Friends Forever -- the smash hit from last year which is coming out in paperpack on Tuesday, May 4.

If you somehow missed (HOW ON EARTH DID YOU MISS IT!?!?!) the chance to read it before now, well, here's your chance because I'm giving away my ONE AND ONLY paperback copy here. And unfortunately, I've already packed up my Advanced Readers Copy from last year (I'm keeping the hard cover!) or else I would have kindly given away that one too!).

The story is about two best friends from way back when (and come on, you all have got that ONE best friend from way back when -- mine is Ann Marie from St. Patrick's Catholic School -- how many of you knew I went to Catholic school for ELEVEN years? HI ANN!!?!?) But I will tell you, I wouldn't do to Ann what Val did to Addie in Best Friends Forever! In true Jennifer Weiner fashion, Best Friends Forever takes you on a journey through friendship, love, loyalty and family that soon won't be forgotten! You'll definitely want this book for your summer reads!

So, if you want MY ONE AND ONLY COPY, simply leave me a comment about one of your favorite books of all time. IT NEED NOT be a Jennifer Weiner book. We all know we love the lady! In fact, choose a different author--I want to find a variety of books in the comment section, so I can add to my own collection and find some great new reads this summer when I'm sitting out in the 115 degree temperatures in Scottsdale!

Also, thank you so much for always stopping by, and please continue to read Manic Mommy! I'll be giving away Jen's upcoming Fly Away Home later this summer. Here are more details on what will be her EIGHTH solo book! Amazing! I have followed her from the very beginning!

FLY AWAY HOME will be published on July 13. Jen's new novel tells the story of a politician caught in a sex scandal, and the impact of the fallout on his long-suffering wife and his two daughters, one a high achiever trapped in an unhappy marriage, the other a recovering addict trying to get her life on track.

And, if you're in the Philly area, (which I used to be in, but then I moved BACK to Illinois, and now will be moving to Freaking Arizona! Holy CRIPES!) you can attend a reading of Jen's on Tuesday, May 4 WITH Wine and Chocolate!

The Pennsylvania General Store and Head House Books
invite you to enjoy Wine & Chocolate at Jennifer Weiner's
Book Reading at the Reading Terminal Market
Tuesday, May 4th at 6:00 pm

To learn more about Jen, go to JenWeiner.com

And yes, I did mention TWO book giveaways in the beginning of this post, didn't I? Check back next week for the announcement of a winner of Best Friends Forever book and also another book contest where I will be giving away two signed copies of Emily Giffin's upcoming Heart of the Matter! Another one you will NOT WANT TO MISS!

Can you believe that I've yet to read anything by either Jennifer Weiner or Emily Giffin?? They've been on "the list" for a while now, but I haven't gotten around to it!!

If you haven't seen any of my gazillion annoying posts about my favorite book of all time, let me just say that I can go on and on and on and on (really!) about Audrey Niffenegger's The Time Traveler's Wife-- amazing each and every time I read it!

Okay...I will fully admit to the one book I read over and over again is a kids' book. 'Anne of Green Gables' by L.M. Montgomery. Whether it's because it reminds me of how to be a great friend or how to be inquisitive and daring again. It's my beginning of REAL summer read.

Hang in there Manic, let us know when you guys all fly out and we'll cross the whole effin plane!

I have loved every book by Jennifer! My favorite of hers, to date that is, of course is "Good In Bed". I can't wait to read this one though!

I guess one of my all time favorite books would have to be... The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. It has just about everything you can think of, from time travel, to fantasy, to historical romance. They are big books, but well worth the read!

I am loving reading these comments ALREADY!! And Hally, I do think that Anne of Green Gables is one of Emily Giffin's favorite books of all time!

I have not yet read or seen Time Traveler's Wife Morninglight, but should get it on my list!

And Shannyn (love how you spell your name!) ... Love Good in Bed too -- I remember being sooo pregnant and going into the book store and having to ask, "Can I get Good in Bed!?!?" So FUNNY!

Keep 'em coming everyone! This is great fun for ME!

Oh, and Hally, be prepared to cross me on my 17th wedding anniversary--MAY 29--Mr. Manic JUST made the one-way ticket plane reservations for our family to Arizona! Am teary-eyed today!

New time blogger and I saw the picture of the book Best Friends Forever. I read it awhile back and absolutely loved it. I actually leant it to my sister and have not gotten it back!

But I would have to say my favorite book for all time, is a toss up between three, (in no particular order)

1. Emily Giffin's Love the One You're With

2. Alice Sebold's Lovely Bones

3. Curtis Sittenfeld's Prep

I would recommend all of these books to anyone, weather you are looking for a relaxing read in the hot weather or to pass the time on a long flight or road trip. The way the author's depict their main character's really gives you a sense that you are the main character and you understand what they are going through.

So far I love reading your blog, very fresh and real. Good luck with the move! And I can't wait until your next give-away. Emily Giffin is my favorite author!

Well, it is hard to pick one book. Basically I love everything from Nora Roberts, reading #3 of the Bride Quartet series now. And non-fiction author Jen Lancaster. I have read Jennifer Weiner most recently Little Earthquakes.
I live in California, so when you move we will be neighbors!

Let's see...favorite books. I just read Little Bee, which was pretty damn good. My all time favorites are probably Empire Falls and Straight Man by Richard Russo and Geek Love by Katherine Dunn. But there are just so many....

I adore both Jodi Picoult and Holly Kennedy. Of all of Jodi's books, I love '19 Minutes'. I feel it's important to read as a parent. Holly's books, I love 'The Tin Box'. Its the only book that when I finished, I started reading again. I loved it. I enjoy books from both Jen and Emily. I love books, period. Go ahead and send me the books, don't bother with a drawing or anything... ;)

Well, first I should say "thank you" for introducing me to Jennifer Weiner and Emily Giffin. I love their books...easy and fun reads.

One of my all time favorite books is "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls....great read and one I recommend anytime someone asks for a book recommendation. If you haven't read it, you should! :)

Best of luck on the move to AZ. It is hot in the summer...but it is beautiful too. Hiking in Sedona is beautiful. :)

One of my favorite books has been James Patterson's Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas. I read it in one sitting. I just couldn't put it down. I have two other go-to books that I recommend to everyone: Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster and I Love Everybody (and Other Atrocious Lies): True Tales of a Loudmouth Girl by Laurie Notaro.

Holy crap, I came here to comment on one person and now I want to comment on everyone's comments but I have to get to a softball game so I don't have enough time but I LOVE what everyone is saying so far!

I can't wait to read Jennifer's book...I've read several and loved every one. You introducted me to Emily also and I've enjoyed all her books too!

If you haven't read anything by Elin Hilderbrand (A Summer Affair, The Castaways, Barefoot) I highly recommend her books. They are set in Nantucket, MA and will probably make you reminisce about summers spent in Scituate :-)

I just finished reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. It was beautifully written. Takes place in 1962 and it's about the relationship between black maids and the white women they work for. Amazing book!

There are many many books that I consider all time favorites but if I have to pick one, right now I'm going with Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Life changing and funny.

Gosh, there are so many but I LOVE The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd...probably tied with The Time Traveler's Wife for "book I couldn't put down." My all time favorite classic is To Kill A Mockingbird. I love all Jennifer Weiner's books and haven't yet read Best Friends Forever. Thanks for the fun contest, Steph!! Lo

One of my favorite books is the The Christmas Jar by Jason Wright. A simple light read that teaches a nice lesson on giving. My more recent favorite book (and not because the suggestion came from you) is Lottery by Patricia Wood. I loved its story on the value of family and true friendship. I love to pimp these two reads when ever I get the chance.

I really enjoyed the short story compliation by David Sedaris entitled Holidays on Ice. He relates alot of his family issues in the book to his real life actions and I enjoyed being able to laugh as well as say to myself "yep, that happened to me too". Thanks for the opportunity. I am a poor medical student who cannot afford alot of books.

The Book Chick said...

I would have to say that one of my favourite chick lit books is "Something Borrowed" by Emily Giffin. I also LOVE anything by Jill Mansell, British chick-lit author extrordinnaire!

I'm itching to read "Heart of the Matter", so I will definitely be back next week!

My all time favorite book is Richard Russo The risk Pool because I can truly relate to the boy and his relationship with his dad.

Good In Bed is still my fave Weiner book.

I can't believe you're doing a book give away in the midst of your moving saga!! But, I'm glad you are!! I love Jennifer Weiner!!

My favorite book of hers (which I know you said it didn't have to be one of hers) was: Good in Bed.

But, my favorite book right now? Well, it's Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster. I lost my job last year and can totally relate to what she went through - seriously? from the unemployment office to selling off my things - I feel like I'm reading about my life! Only - she does it in a much funnier way!!

Thanks for the giveaway!!

I love Jennifer Weiner. Love her books, they're so compelling and a great page turner. I loved Little Earthquakes, Good in Bed, In Her Shoes.. her books are fabulous.

I've been reading a lot of Emily Giffin lately, and I've got to say Something Blue has got to be one of my favorites. The character growth of Darcy just amazes me. She's such an independent woman and I aspire to be that one day.

Like what many other people said, The Time Traveler's Wife is a fabulous read. I loved it. The movie wasn't all that bad either.. I mean Eric Bana is sort of hard to say no to. (:

I'd have to say there's really only one book I love to read over and over and over again. The Girl with the Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier. It's so much better than the movie!
