Day One

Maybe this will make me more accountable for my Quick-Fix-Resolution-Plan-to-Cabo. Sounds fun anyway.

Wake at 10:30 / Helps that the kids were awesome this a.m. and fed themselves. Waking this late also helps quiet the hunger pangs. You can't feel 'em when you're sleeping.

Noon:
Peanut butter and jelly sandwich - 6 points
Light Cheddar Chips, 1 oz. - 2 points

4:30:
Tall peppermint mocha - 2 points
Pretzels - 1 point

6:00:
Huge stirfry, no oil, with minimum beef,
mostly broccoli and snow peas, and rice: 9 points

8:00:
Weight Watchers Smart One chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream sundae THAT ROCKS, btw: 3 points.

Oh, and don't tell me I didn't eat the right things, and I should have had breakfast (I was sleeping during breakfast hours, otherwise I would have had an apple or oatmeal!), that I hadn't eaten enough throughout the day... Oh hell, what do I know, tell me what to do! Please, tell me!

Didn't get to fitness yoga today because kids were home and I had to host playgroups, take kids to playgroups, clean up mess from Jump In party, vacuum, and also shovel snow, so I am counting the vacuuming and shoveling as exercise.

Total points: 23

(I'm allowed 25 with the new system they have, but I really think it should be 24)

ALSO, for my writing resolution, which Swishy has agreed to do as well, we are setting a goal of writing 5,000 words a week, starting Mondays and ending Sunday evenings. I banged out 1,200 words tonight for the sequel to 40 Weeks. Of course, most of it makes no sense, some of it sucks incredibly much, but this is how the process works for me. I spit it out. Let it simmer. Clean up the mess. Work some more.

So, that's all for Day One.

Nineteen more days to a thinner/less bloated/toner/firmer happier me. And then 26 more days till I'm back where I was.

And I have to go to bed because I am freaking starving right now and I know where there's a particularly lonely package of frozen Tim Tams hidden in the freezer.

Okay, did I not tell you to EAT all those Tim Tams last night? :)

Seriously though, sounds like a good first day.

Kelli, yes, you did. And I disobeyed.

And what's this, like third time's a charm with the comment-posting. We must be in sync (and I don't mean the boy-band!) on when we're posting and reading! LOL.

Sounds like you're off to a good start! I ALWAYS count housework and outside work as exercise.

hi i am doing the UK weight watchers and the best tip i can give ypu is to drink a pint of water every two hours as it really fills you up though if your body is not used to this amount of water then drink 1/2 pints alternating with sugar free juice
also this will flush your system through leaving you bright eyed and clear skinned

The fastest way to lose weight, that I've found anyway, is cutting the carbs and sugar. Now, that's not something you can do long term, you have to eat healthy when you reach your goal weight, but it kicks ass with dropping pounds fast.

I've just lost 9 pounds in 15 days!

I drink a ton of water, still have two cups of coffee in the am with cream, but use splenda instead of sugar. Then I have either a low carb high protein bar, or a two egg omelette with cheese and veggies and meat. For lunch I have a big salad with cheese, meat, veggies with a low carb dressing or just oil and vinegar. Then for dinner I eat the meat and veggies I cook for the family and just skip the carb part.

It takes a week to get over the hunger and food cravings, but after that you will not feel hungry at all or crave any of that stuff. And I allow myself to have wine on the weekends.

With all that said, you are not fat!!!!!

Totally check out the WW ice cream treat things they're selling at the grocery store now. I'm loving the fudgecicles.

Great job Manic.
FOr me, drinking a lot of green tea seems to help. I am not a good water drinker .. also, for a filler, I will drink a lite V8, it really fills me up.
Good luck with the rest of the week!

As one who had ice cream and tortilla chips for lunch yesterday, I am not qualified to offer any advice on eating for weight loss.

But I do second Frannie Farmer on the green tea; keeps me full w/no calories & I hear it accelerates your metabolism. Mine needs all the speed it can get.

Thanks for all the tips you guys! As soon as I was done reading these, I went and drank some more water. And I love Crystal Lite Pineapple-Orange drink and try to drink two quarts of that a day.

I'll have to try the green tea thing. And I LOVE the WW Smart Ones ice cream treats too!

Kari--I wish I could go low-carb like you have done (you look GREAT!), but I did Atkins for four months once and cannot look at a scrambled egg most days!

Jess--you could probably live off tortilla chips and ice cream. I'm jealous!

I feel your pain. I started a diet like six hours ago and I'm already starving. Why is it soooo hard? Good luck, not that you need it, cuz you already look great. I'm jealous you are going to Cabo, can't wait to see pics.

Great start to your diet! It's hard to stay in points when you first begin, I know! I'm trying to brace myself for my last drop in points. I'm on the old system (I went to meetings 3.5 years ago so that was pre-Core plan) and I don't use the 35 flex points a week because I am impatient like that ;)

If you want advice on how to tweak what you're already doing a bit, here goes: try to keep your treats to the things you really, really love and substitute healthier foods otherwise. I know that one can lose weight on 24 points of ice cream a day, but that doesn't change one's habits enough to make it permanent. I love PB&J (had to stop myself licking my fingers yesterday after making my daughter one), so maybe try using high fiber bread, or having half a PB&J and half a turkey sandwich. I love roasted red peppers on my sandwiches. They add fiber, flavor, vitamins, and keep it from being dry, but have no points. Also, if you puree them with fat-free mayo, they make a great sandwich spread.

More protein! Eat the meat in that stir-fry (if you like it that is), and use brown rice.

More veggies! I eat "crunchies" with my meals to stretch them a little. Ever tried fennel? Crispy, sweet, no points. Good for digestion, too.

And congratulate yourself...you are really doing it! Just think how great you'll feel on the beach, knowing that you didn't "wimp" out and just buy bigger vacation clothes or something.

Btw, thanks for being my accidental dieting buddy ;)

It doesn't look to me like you need to lose weight at all, but then I don't even know if that is your picture.

May I be so bold and direct you to a post I have stumbled on recently? The author of that post made an impression on me. Maybe this post will help others too. A new perspective may help guide you in your pursuit to good health. Body image is something so many of us are preoccupied with. Best of luck with whatever you choose to do!
