And may I say, offtopic, every time I read any pop culture reference in a book now I think of you? They're Everywhere. And I don't really think of them as being lazy- it's an immediate way to get the reader to follow you. For example:
"I was crying so hard that I was making those sucky sounds Hannibal Lecter makes, only not voluntarily." Marian Keyes, The Other Side of the Story.
I laughed my butt off and knew exactly what it sounded like.

Happy reunion. The other high school in my town was the Trojans. When they played the Vikings the students would paint signs that said "Trojans hold back the sea-men."
Cracked me up every time.
So, do tell how the reunion went. Which cheerleader was the fatest now and how many people had died?
