WiN eMiLy GiFFiN'S HeaRT oF THe MaTTeR!

Win an Autographed Copy of Emily Giffin's Heart of the Matter!

Emily's books ARE beautiful, definitely inside and out. From the very first time I laid my eyes on Something Borrowed and the embossed, glittery wedding ring and that rich pastelly pink cover in a Barnes & Nobles, I knew I had found my favorite author. Even before reading her words, even before seeing her author photo, or discovering that she grew up where I live (or at least where I live for the next 24 days).

Queer as it sounds, that is the truth – I actually remember THE moment I saw THAT book in THAT particular B&N and the feelings I had when I saw Something Borrowed (which is now being made into a major motion picture starring some very major actors including Kate Hudson, John Krasinski – swoon! – and Ginnifer Goodwin), and I can’t say I keep in my memory feelings like this about all the books I buy. And, I buy a TON of books.

Then I read it, and then I read Something Blue, and then I met Emily at a reading, and bravely asked during the Q&A what one would have to do to get the advanced reader’s copy of Baby Proof she held in her hands at that podium that very night.

“I’ll mail it to you,” she said.

And you know what? She did. She mailed THAT exact copy to me. She is that kind of awesomeness. She kept her word, and I’d like to say we have become friends. I’ve seen her out at other events, and have had the incredible pleasure of having dinner and margaritas with her. She even sends me sweet notes and darling Christmas cards of her children that I covet.

She is such a good, kind-hearted person, that if you ever get a chance to go to one of her readings, do so, because it will be one of the most fun, inspiring nights ever (especially if you’re a fan, reader and writer!). I’ll be seeing her in a couple of weeks, two nights before I move to Arizona, in fact, and I don’t care if I still have half a house to pack up or a ton of other stuff to do, she means that much that I’m NOT missing her reading of Heart of the Matter!

I’ve done some fun contests for her books in the past, and in honor of Emily’s new book Heart of the Matter, coming out on Tuesday, May 11, I have another one coming your way NOW! Thanks to Emily, I’ll be giving away TWO signed copies here on MaNiC MoMMy this week!

You know the drill – leave me a message — something really good – preferably about how much you love Emily’s books or even if you’ve never read one of her books (WHY HAVEN’T YOU READ ONE YET?) but are dying to, tell me how badly you want to win. Of course, the drawing will be random, and chosen on Monday, May 10!

So, get to the comment section! And Emily, thank you so much for the gift of telling beautiful stories that resonate with women everywhere! If I get a large enough response in the comments, I might even get the MaNiC kids together and do a Booking With Manic video drawing to announce the winners for this one!

Here’s what I thought of Heart of the Matter, and of course, as with all of Emily’s books, I couldn’t put it down, and as with all of her books, they just keep getting better and better!

In Emily Giffin’s latest book, Heart of the Matter, she once again tackles a delicate subject matter in a way that draws the reader in until the very last page. We meet Tessa Russo and her doctor-husband Nick in a seemingly perfect marriage with two perfect children. Yet when Valerie Anderson’s young son is injured in a fire, and plastic surgeon Nick comes to the rescue, not only is young Charlie affected by his bedside manner and charm, but so is Valerie.

The draw of Emily’s writing is that she takes a taboo subject, and twists it in a way to make the reader feel compassion toward every single one of her characters, no matter what the situation, or what kind of wrong they are doing.

While there is a love triangle going on in HOTM – an obvious attraction, physically and emotionally between Nick and Valerie – there is also a deep married love between Tessa and Nick, although something definitely has shifted in the years during their marriage. Can they get that back? Do they want it back? And even though Nick chooses to be unfaithful to Tessa, as a reader, you’ll find yourself feeling compassion for what he is going through. While I read, I wasn’t sure who I wanted him to be with. Emily has a way for making it impossible to find a ‘bad guy’ in her novels.

Surprise characters make an appearance in Heart of the Matter and I couldn’t help but feel like old friends were visiting! I loved this part very much and felt a sense of “Aww, how very cool is that!” when I discovered this very well kept secret! Readers will LOVE this ‘little gift’ that Emily offers up!

Heart of the Matter is a completely satisfying novel; one that will make the reader wonder about the frailty of all relationships - who does the pushing and who does the pulling? Is Tess purposely shoving her spouse away, unhappy with herself and trying to find a happiness that might not exist? Is either party the cause or the blame? You may ask yourself, “is a one-time sex act worse than a long-time love affair,” and if you had to answer these questions, would you rather your husband have a meaningless one-night stand without attachment; would you easily forgive, be able to forget, and let go?

And with the divorce rate so high, are these the type of questions that many of us will have to face as we navigate our way through relationships, marriages, the stress of jobs, family and children?

Emily Giffin brings the subject of infidelity to us in a heartfelt and touching story, with compassion and grace, only as Emily can do.

To follow all the details of Emily’s book tour and movie news, check out http://www.emilygiffin.com/.

And right now, head on over the the comment section, leave a note on why you love Emily’s books, or why you want to win, or why you came to this blog, anything will do, and you’ll be entered to win one of TWO signed copies of Emily Giffin’s Heart of the Matter! Please make sure to leave an email address in the comment section and also check back as winners will be announced on Monday, May 10!

I love all of Emily Giffin's novels. They are brilliant, and I couldn't put them down. I suggested them to my mom, and she introduced them to her book club. I am so excited about Heart of the Matter. I can't wait to read it!

I love her novels. It's amazing how she gets us to sympathize with characters who normally wouldn't be endearing, in the eyes of society.

Came here via Emily's Facebook and Twitter - I cannot begin to describe how excited I am for both a new book from Emily AND the Something Borrowed movie! I read SoBo when it first came out and became a huge fan immediately. Can't wait to read the new book!

Something Borrowed started my love affair with books. Something Blue & Baby Proof turned it into a full blown obsession & cemented Emily Giffin as my favorite author. I've been waiting anxiously since the moment I heard about Heart of the Matter & wrote the release date on my calendar so I don't possibly forget to purchase my copy!

Emily is the top of my favorite writers and her books are a must have! Her characters are so likeable-even the ones you don't want to like you like- and her writing is just flawless! Awesome opportunity to have this latest book...so thank you! My fingers are crossed!

I absolutely adore Emily's books. My friend let me borrow "Something Borrowed." But then I HAD to borrow "Something Blue" and "Baby Proof." I was hooked and then "Love The One You're With" came out and I bought ALL of them to have for myself! :) Now I can't wait for Heart of the Matter! :)

Emily's books are just FUN to read. They are exciting. They are a great way to escape real life and just relax and enjoy. I JUST LOVE THEM!!!!!

I have read all of Emily's books, but Something Borrowed will always have a special place in my heart. I discovered Something Borrowed while I was working as a corporate attorney, a block away from Rachel's office in Something Borrowed. I was Rachel. I had followed a predetermined path my whole life: college, law school, big law firm job. I was professionally successful but failing at my life. Rachel's journey of self-discovery, the dissection of her past and the reevaluation of her present allowed me to have the courage to change my own life and fight for my own happiness. I have been waiting for Heart of the Matter to come out ever since the preview chapter was posted on the website!

I just wanted to say reading your blog was very fun.I enjoyed reading about what you has to say about Emily and your relationship with her. I like you was drawn to her books on a Barnes and Noble shelf, and was drawn in by the bright covers, which seemed more upbeat then the other books around hers. I had heard of the books before and was looking for something good to read, and thought I'd give it a shot and pretty soon after I was back at that same shelf buying the rest of her books. I think its funny how much I relate to the books, especially since im not married and have no children yet, and am younger then the characters in the book, but I loved them ALL. I related to each book in some way and loved all the characters(even Darcy) and loved Emily's writing. I loved reading all of her books and cant wait for the next one to come out, and I hope there are many more to come after this one because they really brighten my day when I read them, and I cant wait for Something Borrowed to come out in film.(IT will be great, Im sure of it)

I remember picking up my copy in the book store of Something Borrowed and fell in LOVE with Emily's writing. I couldn't wait until Something Blue came out and every year I look forward to her new novel! I had the chance to meet her this weekend in Pittsburgh when she was here for a family gathering and myself and 5 other fans were in awe of her. She took time out of her family schedule to meet with the 6 of us, answered our questions and just talked with us. It was so cool! I am looking forward to HOTM and would love an autographed copy! Thanks for the opportunity to win her new book!

I enjoy Emily's books because she knows how to keep the reader turning the page without compromising the quality of the writing. I read her first two books in about a week. Can't wait to read more of her work.

I knew I loved Emily Giffin's writing at the end of the first chapter of Something Borrowed. I've read it at least four times and am currently frantic that I can't find my copy (did I really loan it out and never get it back?). I hated Darcy...and Emily redeemed her in Something Blue. And Love the One You're With is simply a brilliant study about the state of marriage today: how marriage and love are conscious choices that go beyond the must-feel-good-NOW way so many of us live our lives. Emily's writing just RESONATES with me. And, like you, I wish I were friends with her, because she seems like a truly genuine girlfriend you could talk with for hours (and then call on the way home). Can't wait for HOTM! --Tracy Boyd

This is PERFECT MANIC MOMMY...

BECAUSE...I haven't pre-ordered the book just yet!! (or will I have to?;)

Okay...well let's just say ... Emily's books are so easy to fall in love with.

I read her first novel "Something Borrowed" before I knew a thing about her as an author. (p.s. jealous you got to meet her)

Well, needless to say, I let someone "borrow" that book and never got it back. Mainly because the book continuously got passed to other people because it was so good. I have every other book of hers. I love her work to pieces and I can't wait for the movie!

Love, Love, Love Emily Giffin's books. I even have read Something Borrowed and Something Blue twice in anticipation of the movie release. I am waiting on pins and needles to read Heart of the Matter, and I'm sure I will finish it in record time because her writing is just that good. I hope I win!

Years ago, I read "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue" back to back. Staying up way to late with each one because I literally could not put them down. Since then I have eagerly anticapated each new release and have not been disappointed. In honor of the filming of SoBo, I re-read the book this past weekend. And you know what? I stayed up late reading it! lol. Even though I knew what was going to happen I was still entralled.

I have just adored Emily's books from the moment her sister, Sarah, talked me into reading them. There is just something about her books that all women can relate to. I just can't put her books down and have recommended them to many friends who know love them too. I have told my husband he can wait to give me my mother's day present until the 11th if he buys me the book. That's really all I want another Emily book. Unfortunately once I'm done with that one I'll be patiently waiting for the next one!

Emily's books are fantastic. She's an amazing writer and I'm always anxious to read the next. My only regret is that I started reading her novels when they first came out so I've had to wait for about a year between each one. I wish I had just found her now and I could read all 5 back to back!

I discovered "Something Borrowed" when I was on vacation. It was incredible. I couldn't put it down. "Something Blue" came out about two weeks after I came home and once again I could not put it down. (When I say this I mean - dinner had to wait, cleaning - not until the book was finished and laundry - well I made sure we had enough clean underwear). I was lucky enough to have "Baby Proof" arrive as soon as it came out. I felt a true connection to "Love the One You're With" - it tore at my heartstrings and felt like Emily Giffin was telling my story. I can't wait for her newest book to come out .... better go cook and freeze some dinners and get ahead on my laundry!

I love Emily's books too and proudly own all 4! Hoping to see her on her upcoming book tour. What is so great about her books is that I can read them over and over, something I have a hard time doing with other authors. Also I really relate to the book "Something Borrowed" and with the character Rachel and her life approaching her 30th Birthday. Love that book! I also really like "Love the One Your With."

So excited about this contest! Hope I win an autographed copy!

I love her novels, because she has me right from the 1st page and doesn't let me go until the last.
Her books are intelligent and funny, and still manage to make me cry.
I know I'm in love with an author's writing when I get to the last page and I'm sad, because I want more. That's how Emily Giffin's novels are.

I first decided to purchase one of Emily's book pretty much the way you did - I loved the cover of "Something Borrowed". It was in hard cover, the way all of my books are, and I read it in just 2 days before I went back to the store to purchase the rest of her books. I read them all during my summer vacation from the office. I've purchased sets of them for friends as birthday gifts and for a friend in the hospital. Everyone loves them! I can't hold myself still thinking about finally getting read a new book from Emily. Emily - please write more books... soon!!!

I own all of Emily Giffin's books and whenever I hear that one is coming out I make plans to get it asap.

You kind of hit on my reason for loving Emily's books: she's the first writer to make me fall in love with a character that I'd dislike on principle. Before you know it, you find yourself empathizing with a person who's doing things that you'd normally not be in favour of (like Rachel in Something borrowed!).

That's pretty darn awesome that you can call Emily a friend!

I also remember when I first spotted Emily's first novel on the bookshelf. It looked like a fun and inviting book. It turned out to be an incredible story that drew me in and made me feel close to the characters going through these life altering situations and experiences. I have eagerly read her other novels and am so excited for HOTM. I love to get wrapped up in her stories and characters and escape my boring, mundane and sometimes stressful life while I'm reading them and sometimes they hit home like Love the One You're With. It really spoke to me and brought up some feelings I needed to deal with. She's such a talented author. I came here via Emily's twitter. I hope I win! I love your synopsis of the book. It's got me even more excited now to read it! :)

I can't put the books down when I pick them up. I remember buying Something Borrowed at the Atlanta airport before I went on a business trip. The book was finished before I returned home in 3 days. I am re-reading Something Borrowed now because I am so excited about the movie!

I came across her books in B&N one day a few years ago, the colors and titles caught my eye, and I bought them & gave them to my daughter for her birthday. She loaned them out, didn't get them back or get them read. So, I won a copy of SoBo on Goodreads and when I read it , I was HOOKED. SO, I ended up buying Something Blue and Baby Proof AGAIN! About that time, Love the One You're With came out , so I bought it immediatly. It was a story close to my own life, too. I wasn't married when I ran into my old love, but there were a lot of similiarites. I have been impatiently waiting for HOTM, I love her books, and am so excited to see SoBo come to life in a movie !

I LOVE Emily Giffin's novels! Like you, I was so drawn to the simple and adorable cover of "Something Blue" (I accidentally read them out of order!) when I visited my friend's beach house and found it on the shelves. That next day, I went out to the local bookstore and bought all three of her other books. She has an incredible way of making the unlikeable lovable, as she did with Darcy in Something Blue. I cannot wait to read HOTM!

I'm looking forward to meeting Emily when she is in Boston - came to this blog because she told me to on Facebook... the name of the blog MaNic MoMMy describes me at the moment having just battled the boys to bed- I think I'll be back even if I don't win, but I could really use that escape...kmsheehy@gmail.com

She is very talented with her writing that makes you want to read more of her novels, good role models to young adults, and her stories pull you into her world/ universe. And her books are AMAZING:) Each of her books that I read were amazing and I appreciate her and you for putting this contest on for people to read her upcoming book which comes out next week, and am very excited for it to come out. Her books are one of my favourites that I Re-read Something Borrowed:) thank You and Emily for this chance. And am really excited for the book

I read the first 30 pages of HOTM on my iPad and was so bummed to wait another 2 weeks to read it! I recommend her to everyone I know, can't wait for HOTM. I'm sure it will be just as amazing as her others! Thanks for an awesome giveaway Emily!

What a great post! I have a sneaky suspicion that many women feel the same way about Emily Giffin! :) When I saw Something Borrowed I knew I would love it! I have read it several times since and have adored all of her other novels!
I would love to be entered in the contest! Thank you so much!

I am not an avid reader... as a matter of fact I have a hard enough time sitting still long enough to read my email. However, I was dragged to the local B&N by a friend of mine for the sole purpose of her trying to prove to me that reading can be fulfilling. She thought I would enjoy our trips to the beach a bit more. Yeah right, I thought. After a bit of perusing through the overwhelming shelves of fiction, I saw Something Borrowed and read the back cover. I immediately thought to myself "Whoa this could be a saucy story" and purchased my first summer book. Needless to say, I finished the book the first week I had it and it was only the first week in April. I promptly got online, order Something Blue and became hooked. I have been reading ever since but no book has even come close to making me feel the same way Something Borrowed did. I would love nothing more than to meet her one day and thank her in person but for now this will do. Thank you Emily for shedding a new light on my life through all of your chapters. :)

I have been a fan of Emily Giffin since Something Borrowed FIRST came out. I have read all of her books more than once and still love them as much as the first time. I have had a countdown going for HOTM since she first posted about it on her website. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win a copy!!!!

I don't have much time to read...two little girls, a husband and a full time teaching job...but I make time for Emily Giffin's novels. I've read them all at least twice. I've been waiting and watching for "Heart of the Matter" and I've warned my family that they may be ignored for a short while when I get my hands on that book!

Just like you I remember the first time I saw Something Borrowed. I went into a small book store near my home and saw it laying on the floor waiting to be stocked on the shelf, the cover drew me in instantly! I went home and read the whole thing cover to cover and called back the next day to see if they had a copy of Something Blue! That copy has been read so many times now I'm thinking about buying a new one!!!

I have been a huge fan of Emily Giffin's ever since borrowing a friend's copy of Love the One You're With. After that I went out and bought the rest of Emily's books and have loved them all. I am excited for the release of Heart of the Matter, and I would be delighted to win a signed copy of the book!

Just like you I fell in "love" with Emily's books. I bought all four of them in one shopping trip and had them all read in about a week. Since then I've loaned my copies out to everyone I know. I'm super excited about HOTM!! And her new movie too.

I, like you, was immediately drawn to the cover of Something Borrowed and was hooked. I love how intricate her characters are and how your feelings about the characters aren't so black and white. I LOVE that they're complicated. I'd love to win 2 copies because, 1) I'm a big fan and 2) my mom has become a big fan as well. My mom's birthday is on May 11 and of course mother's day is May 9. I can't think of anything better I can give her for her birthday/mother's day present!

I'm ashamed to say that I've never read any of Emily's books before but have now been and ordered all of her back books from Amazon.

Please enter me into the draw for a signed copy of her new book.

I tend to stick with the same authors and rarely venture outside of my comfort zone however; there was something about Something Borrowed that caught my eye and I devoured it almost over night. I would love to win her new book!! Currently I am reading Baby Proof and I love her writing style.

I like many others have posted fell in love with SoBo just at a glance of the cover. Little did I know that I would adore the book even more than I expected. It only took the first book to realize that I had myself a new favorite author. Then it was set in stone after the other 3 books. I adore Emily even more after finding her on Facebook and reading all of her posts and seeing how much she enjoys her fans. She has great give aways and I was sooo excited when I saw this one. Now I have a new blog to join in on LOVE IT! Can't wait for Heart of the Matter. Already pre ordered but would give anything for a signed copy. Keeping up on every detail of the upcoming movie too! Please pick me, I would be ever so greatful. Thank you Emily for all of the reading enjoyment. I am a book addict and adore reading, but your books are by far the best.

I love, love, LOVE Emily`s books! I am the proud momma of three beautiful children, ages 6, 4, and 1...they are my pride and joy, but keep me VERY busy, so reading doesn`t always happen! I usually try to read when the kids are asleep, but usually fall asleep myself pretty quick into starting. My way of judging a good book? If it captivates me enough to keep on reading, no matter how tired I am! Emily`s books have kept me awake everytime...sometimes until 3 am, because I can`t bear to put it down until I`m done! I would soooo LOVE to win HOTM! After all, everyone needs a sleepless night ONCE in awhile!! mitcan1@hotmail.com

I first got introduced to my first Emily novel during my sophomore year in high school by my cousin. Sure, I was young, and compared to Emily’s targeted audience, I would still be considered too young to fully understand the topics that themes of her books all revolve around. I grew up being very big on reading – however, I never could pinpoint a favorite. No book, out of the thousands I have read in my lifetime, was every superior enough to be my favorite. Either the book was slow-moving or childish or unrealistic or simply something I couldn’t relate to. As soon as I picked up something borrowed, I couldn’t put it down. I finished it in a matter of hours – and trust me, I do have a life. In other words, I never let a book take over my life. I was always reading at appropriate times. I locked myself in my room for hours until I finished the book. As soon as I put it down, I looked up speechless and caught my breath. I immediately went to my cousin’s house and asked to borrow something blue. As I got into it, something happened that didn’t ever normally happen to me. Somewhere between Darcy’s ultrasound and her blossoming relationship with Ethan, I began to cry. I’m not a big crier and no book has every made me cry. Ya, movies here and there. But, a book? I pictured every scene of her novels so vividly that I felt I was there seeing and feeling the emotions of the characters. Between my parent’s awful divorce and my sister getting married and moving out, I knew there was a relationship that I was missing in my life. To this day, I still don’t know what it is. But after reading something borrowed and something blue, I knew that life is much more than it seems and something as beautiful as what Darcy and Ethan had and as exciting and romantic as what Dex and Rachel had may be in store for me. When I finished Something Blue, my heart fell. I was so in love with the each and every one of the characters, I didn’t want it to be over. I was so attached to the personalities of the novel and the slight idea of these people being fabricated was the thought I brushed away. When Ethan and Darcy were mentioned in Baby Proof, I immediately lit up. I know that I can be my own Darcy or Rachel. In the last few years, I’ve lost life-long friends over men. I’ve thought I was in love to find out the feeling wasn’t reciprocated and that it wasn’t love. So, yes, I may be young, but we all feel pain and each and every one of us – young and old – can relate to and/or feel with each and every one of Emily’s characters. She is truly gifted and has inspired me. She’s no Carrie Bradshaw. She’s a hard-working mother, a beautiful woman, and an outstanding author who happened to write my favorite book. YES – favorite.

Thousands of books later, Something Blue is my favorite novel.

Thank you so much Emily, you wrote it and gave me, as well as all of your other fans, a chance to bring this wonderful story to life. I can’t wait to meet you on your book tour! :)

Every day I hear about people getting shot, children getting raped, an 85 year old lady waking up to find her husband dead next to them, you name it. I’m a 911 operator and as such, all I hear are people asking for help. I love my job, because I get to render aid to others. I get to be the one who calms them down and lets them know that everything is going to be ok.

However, I too am a mother. This makes my job as a mommy extremely difficult because I have to make sure that I’m not too over protective. My daughter is truly magical. She brings happiness to my life.

However, kids too can be stressful. Ask any newborn mother who has to wake up in the middle of the night (four times) to feed a crying baby. Not to mention having to scrape up every minute to write papers and do homework (& yes I too am a college student due to graduate within a year).
Reading is what truly makes my life sane. And by reading, I don’t mean textbooks, I mean Emily Griffin.

Emily Griffin is so charming, funny, enjoyable, and fun to read. I have every single one of her books, each with scribbles, pink highlighting, and little love messages written on the margins. I love her books, mostly because I can relate. Because at some point, we all have to decide “what’s important in life, and taking chances to get it.” I couldn’t want anything more than to have a copy signed by her. For those of you that haven’t read every single one of her books, you’re missing out!

New reader to your blog, but with Emilys book up for grabs I had to check it out. Ever since I read her first novel a few years ago I had been hooked. I am in love with the worlds that she creates, so much so that it took me months to pick up Something Blue because I was such a Rachel fan in Something Borrowed. Once doing this I had a change of heart for Darcy and of cousre enjoyed that one too. I am so looking forward to Hearth of the Matter and cannot wait to get my mitts on a copy. Thanks for hosting a contest for such an awesome Atlanta writer. {Yeah that was long, sorry. Enter me please. lol}

The reason I love Emily's books is because they are easy to fall in love with. Through Something Borrowed and Something Blue I really felt like I knew those character's and was able to really see and feel what they were going through. Emily has a way of showcasing certain characters so no matter what it is they are doing, whether they are cheating on their fiancé or turning back on a loved one, you still feel for them and still see the good in them.

I remember when Something Borrowed was first released and I pick it up. I definitely judged the book by the cover and decided to read it. What I didn't know was how much her first book would affect me and make me such a loyal fan. Above all Emily is my favorite author and I can't wait to read everything and anything she writes.

The reason I want to win this contest, although it is random, is because I have been trying to win every one of her potential giveaways for this book. On her book tours she has come close to my hometown once, when she visited Petaluma on her Love the One You're With Tour and I was already up at school in Portland. I would give anything to meet her just to say hi and tell her how much I enjoy her writing. I feel like winning a signed copy of her book, advanced or not, would be the closest thing to that I can get at the moment. That is until I have the money and time to fly to one of her book tours. Or if she decided to come up to Portland!

Thanks so much for the giveaway. I hope luck is on my side this time around!

Much like your experience in discovering the author, Emily Giffin, I too was browsing books in B&N when I saw the two adorable booties dangling from a chain on the cover of Baby Proof. But my library had 2 of her books and one was Baby Proof. It was perfect to read while I was home getting ready to have my baby. I fell in love and I've ready ALMOST all of her books. Emily Giffin is hands down my favorite author. I hate it when people say she writes "chick-lit" because her writing is so much more than that. It is sophisticated and charming, yet so real. I would love to win a copy of this book! I was lucky to borrow a copy of the "uncorrected Proofs" edition and would love to have the book in my collection! I own her previous 4 books! I think what I like best about Emily's writing is how she draws you into the story... even if the subject matter is on the more difficult side, like in "Heart of the Matter." You never want to stop reading it, your glued and interested the entire way. I love sailing through a book and not feeling like I have to make myself read it or get through it. She does an amazing job of connecting her characters to her readers.

Amazing books, I am counting down the days until HOTM comes out!

I also had an amazing experience with Emily! I will never forget walking into B&N just a few weeks after Something Borrowed was published and immediately fell in love. I shared that book with everyone i knew and unfortunately my first copy never made it back to me--but I like to think that I helped spread the job of Emily's books before anyone else.

In 2008, i had the ultimate pleasure of meeting Emily at a small book signing in Atlanta. She has been such an amazing person to talk to and look up to.

I can't wait for HOTM and I will be at the Atlanta signing! :-)

My favorite Emily Giffin book so far is Something Borrowed... loved it! I follow Emily Giffin on facebook and I have to say that one thing I really like is that she seems like such a genuine, normal person... and it's so nice to connect with someone like that rather than just see their name on the front of your book... I nearly died laughing when I read about her gym incident this morning! Can't wait for next Tuesday!

Among Emily's 4 books, the first one that caught my attention was Love the One You're With. Well, my hubby and I had a minor disagreement and I was just relaxing at our local barnes and noble when I saw her books. I realized that it was part of a series but did not buy any that time. Very few books have ever brought me to tears...however, I've shed at least one while reading every Emily Griffin book. I've never quite read books that have drawn you so much into the emotions of the characters. I remember laying in bed, reading Baby Proof, my stomach literally churning, willing Ben to take Claudia back. I felt my anxiety level rise while reading Something Borrowed and Darcy was about to catch Rachael and Dex. Emily's writing is so good, it almost as if I was a fly on the wall of the room (hopefully hiding in the closet with Dex, Darcy scares me a little).

I LOVE EMILY GIFFIN'S BOOKS! They are all so wonderful. I love how she captures you into the book so that you feel like you're living the character's life even though realistically that couldn't happen to me now. At a young age I hated reading and writing (I was more of a math person), I carried this mentality on until my 2nd year in high school when my best friends started recommending me books. I thought to myself, "I'll never get through this without falling asleep a bunch of times", but surprisingly, I learned to LOVE reading. 'Something Borrowed' was the second book I read after getting into reading. I'm hooked. I'm proud to be one of the few in a generation of children who don't read unless it is forced upon us.

It is also my birthday on May 11th and I feel extra excited that her book is released on the same day.

I am a HUGE Emily Giffin fan and have all of her books! They are beautiful (as you said :) inside and out! I cannot wait to add Heart of the Matter! I loved how you described remembering the feeling of seeing Something Borrowed at B&N and being drawn to the design on the book jacket. I feel the same way! I am notorious for choosing books based on the cover and did exactly that, with SoBo -- and was sooo glad that I did! I had not heard of Emily before I picked up the book in B&N one night and was hooked instantly! I remember finishing Baby Proof on the treadmill one day and bawling my eyes out, so badly that I had to stop walking! You are right, Emily is such a gifted writer, I absolutely love her style and her stories. Her descriptions of characters and the way she builds her stories are the kind that make you think about them, even when you don't have the book in your hands! I find myself out grocery shopping or wherever, thinking about what Darcy will do next, etc. and can't wait to get home and pick up the book again! Emily just has that knack for creating such wonderful stories. The kind you don't want to see end!!

I would love to win the Heart of the Matter so much! I can't wait to put it on my shelf, next to the other beautiful Emily Giffin books already there. :) Thank you!

I read Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof and Love the One You're With all in a week. Emily Giffin has such a powerful way of writing these books that makes me want to read on and on. I think my favorite book was Something Blue. I felt like Darcy was so selfish in SoBo, but in Something Blue, she matured and I fell in love with her. She's such a brilliant character, I would love to be friends with her. (:
And I adore how Baby Proof ended. Some people didn't, but I just loved and cherished it. It made me think a lot about my relationships.
Her books overall make me smile and appreciate my friends and family. Can't wait for to read Heart of the Matter. SIX MORE DAYS ! (:

It would be an absolute honor to posess an autographed copy of Emily Giffin's new book. I've been a fan ever since I picked up "Something Borrowed" at the Philadelphia airport on my way home to San Jose, CA and was surprised how much I really loved the book. It was not what I thought was just a typical, light, "chick-lit" book, it was real, authentic, sometimes deep, but very relatable. I have been able to relate to the main characters in every single one of Emily's books. I recently became a first-time mom, and during my pregnancy, I re-read all of Emily's books again. I was able to see something a little different or deeper reading the books for the second time around. Now that I have a 2 month old little girl, I hardly have time to do much for myself. I love being a mom and giving myself fully to my baby, but I wouldn't be honest if I didn't admit that I long for alone time to be just "me" again. Part of being "me" is sitting in a cafe and engrossing myself in another book. Unfortunately, I would be lucky if I can just find a couple hours to myself every now and then to do things, such as going out and browsing through a bookstore. As I said earlier, I would be honored to own a signed copy of Emily's book as it would be the first new book I would receive after entering motherhood and allowing myself to use my imagination to relate to her characters and just take some time to be myself again. Thank you for your time in reading my comment...

I love me some Emily Giffin! I don't think she's ever been in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada but if she ever comes, I'll be there waiting for her!

Some chicklit today is almost too fluffy, and you forget the story the moment you read the last word. Emily's books stick with me and make me think; that is what I love about them.

Thanks for adding a 3rd book to this giveaway; it is greatly appreciated!

I read Something Borrowed by chance. I didn't pick it up at the bookstore. My best friend said, "Oh...you'd like this book." Well, I finished it in a day and then went out and bought all her other books because I loved her writing so much! janicecaruso@gmail.com

I love Emily Giffin's novels because everything she writes about can relate to my life somehow no matter how old I am when I read them. And I like that she gives nods to her characters in other books, so you know that they're OK and also because it makes the world she creates that much more real.

All 4 of her novels are captivating and thought-provoking. I especially enjoyed something borrowed because they characters seemed so real. It was interesting to see how the situation was not black and white; how you really could fight for the one you usually look down upon. Really looking forward to HOTM!

My BFF introduced me to Emily's books when she loaned me Something Borrowed and Something Blue and told me to read SOBO first. I devoured both books during a long weekend on the beach, marvelling at Emily's masterful portrayal of best friends and true love. I couldn't stand Darcy, rooted for Rachel and Dex because nice girls shouldn't always finish last. Then in Something Blue, Emily turned my impression of Darcy on its ear and I grew to love and understand her as she grew to love and understand herself. When I finished them, I entered a period of mourning-- what else could I possibly pick up and read that could even compare?? I have had that experience with each of her books-- not wanting to read anything else immediately, letting her stories linger in my mind. Well, I raced out to the bookstore and bought Baby Proof as soon as I could and read it cover to cover on a red-eye flight the following weekend. What next?? I had to pre-order Love The One You're With and wait anxiously for its release. And now here I sit, waiting again for Emily's magic to hit bookstores. Oh, and I did eventually return the borrowed books to my BFF, but I had to go buy my own copies because those first two deserved a place of honor on my bookshelves. They sit now, waiting for my teenage daughter to devour this summer, as I did two years ago. I can't wait to hear her thoughts...something I have longed to share with my brilliant and beautiful daughter. What a gift!! Did Emily know that she was giving us that, when she crafted Rachel and Darcy and wove her magical tale? A gift for mothers and daughters of something to share and enjoy together, to laugh and cry over together. Happy Mother's Day!

I've read all of Emily's books, but Something Blue is my favorite. Darcy's transformation from self-absorbtion and shallowness into a woman who learns what it truly means to love and care for others is such a powerful portrayal of hope and the ability for all of us to change. I really admire Emily and her honesty. Can't wait for HOTM!

I love love *love* Emily's work! A certain novel of hers, at one point in my life, could have been my biography! She has a superb way of taking extremely touchy, almost taboo, subject matters and making them totally relatable. Seems like we've been waiting forever for HOTM to be released. So excited it's almost here!

I was never a book reader til a random day at Safeway in Vancouver, WA that I saw "Something Borrowed". My husband and I were visting his parents in LaCenter, Wa just 10 mins from Vancouver and we were bored stiff, so we offered to go do the grocery shopping...and to pick ouselves up some good reads! I thought I would try the whole reading thing again. Im so glad I did because I fell in love with that book and then had to read Something Blue, which is my favorite Emily Giffin book ever, and probably always will be! I just love the relationship that Ethan and Darcy develop over time, the fact that he isnt smitten with her like every other guy, but he sees through her beauty into the sorta nasty person she is, well was, then he gets to know her and tells her what he truly thinks of her and she sees hes right and changes and becomes this whole new person that cares about something other than herself! She had to earn and work for his love and in any relationship that is going to last thats what you have to do, if it comes easy then its only a ficade. Anyway, I love Darcy & Ethan and cant wait for the movies to come out! Thanks to Emily, because I now a "reader". Not what most of you would consider one, but compared to what I was I am now. I love Emily's books and the depth she puts into them and I love taking her suggestions and reading what she says is good. I am so excited for HOTM and Im also going to pick up Kate Rockland's new book that comes out tomorrow too, called: "Falling Is Like This". Emily says: "Say Hello to a new rockstar in women's fiction". Sounds like a jolly good time to me!!! Thanks Emily!
