My candle, which has been burning from both ends for a while now (as I'm sure many of you have had the same experience) has just burnt to the end, ignited and exploded.
I'm done. Exhausted. Spent. Tired. Need to Exhale.
Remember, Christmas Doesn't Just Happen.
I think I'll pass the Christmas torch on for next year.
For my Jewish friends, Happy Hanukkah!

Merry Christmas Manic!
Merry Christmas, Manic Mommy! Be sure to give yourself a few days to recover from being Santa's number 1 Elf!
Hi Stephanie -
I'm right there with you babe.
Tho, with a near-nervous breakdown 2 years ago, when I foolishly accepted invites to every cocktail party; dealt with dd in Nutcracker, school performance, gymnastics show; cooked for MOPS brunch; cooked for family celebrations; made gingerbread houses (yes plural) from scratch; made dozens of cookies; with season climaxing with ds puking on xmas eve, I finally said STOP THE INSANITY and really shortened my list of obligations last year. It was WONDERFUL (yes, there was still gift buying, etc. but I stopped insisting on making all party apps from scratch; I got on gift-buying early, etc. etc.).
Can you make a list of how you want NEXT Xmas season to look?
Or, say screw you Kara, and go have a mimosa and some Tim Tams.
K
Merry Christmas Trish, and to you too Melanie! (BTW Mel, I want to hear about the MOVIE DEAL!!)
Kara--is this Kara from Mountain Parent??
My list for next year has already begun in my mind: NO FUCKING LIGHTS, just a couple wreaths and maybe a green and red lightbulb.
And lots of wine and Tim Tams, and appletinis.
Isn't it funny that when my husband asks me what I want for CHristmas, I really do only want PEACE???!!! Oh, and three uninterupted hours a day to just write.
*That* would be an amazing gift. I know I'll get there--when Tukey's in school full-time.
Happiness and Cheer to all of you great Manic readers and supporters! You all rock. A bright spot in my gloomy days!
Merry Christmas! I think each year I try to make it more simple then the last.
Unfortunatly, we are traveling to see family this Christmas. I am hoping we can stop this soon. Last Christmas we stayed home just the four of us and it was awesome. Our Christmas dinner was pizza. It was the most I have ever been relaxed during Christmas.
Here is to hoping you get what you asked for Christmas.
LOL, sounds like you're having the same problems I'm having! Why can't it be all about family and not wracking your brain trying to fit in some useless task like giving to people???? LOL
Have a Merry Christmas!
Yes, Kara from Mountain Parent, who just got her story posted on GoColorado.com -- I'm working on doing more travel writing YAY!
Anywho, when does Tukey go to school FT? My son goes in Sept '07. And TRUST ME I will be drinking a Bloody Mary to celebrate as soon as I drop him off on that classroom doorstep. I CANNOT WAIT to devote more hours to my work/writing/self/workouts. :-)
I feel ya. And I don't have kids. My sisters do and I know they are stressing. Wish I was nearby to lighten their load.
Happiest of Holidays to you, Manic!
I read what you said on the loop and the once a week thing BETTER not be true!!! It can help you with other stuff!
I'm with Swishy. Once a week is too few, but then again, I've only been posting every 3-4 days. And even once I only posted once that week. I'm going to shoot for every other day. Three days tops. So I'll be posting 2-3 times a week.
Besides, I find by posting every day, your readers might not check every day, so they miss a really great post.
Anyway, have a great holiday and good luck figuring out your writing and blogging schedule for next year.
awww Merry Christmas Manic!
Take some time off to re-charge.
We are heading out and I wanted to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas!
Merry Manic Christmas to you! btw, roll call!
Merry Christmas, Manic Mom. Hang in there. You are building some awesome memories for your little ones, who - if they don't already get it - will grow up sharing stories of their awesome Mom and all she did to make their young lives shine :)
And book yourself a massage for early 2007!
Here is the thing- half the shit we do for Christmas doesn't really matter. Buy the cookies if you must. Give a gift card, skip the tinsel. It is supposed to be fun. We remember fun. Take care of yourself and have an amazing holiday.
