a GooD MoMeNT

I was talking with the kids about a book Ajers was reading which has a character in it named Stephanie and he mentioned that the character is a dog.

"Nobody names a dog STEPHANIE!" I said.

Ajers said, "I know, but she's a teenager in the book."

Me: "I was a teenager once."

"I can't picture THAT!" From Ajers.

Diva chimes in, "I've seen pictures. She WAS a teenager once."

Me: "Oh yes I was."

Ajers: "Well, I still can't picture you as a teenager but Dad musta liked what he saw."

Me: "I guess so, but he didn't really know me when I was a teenager."

And then Ajers, with the final blow, as he looks to the mantel at my wedding picture:

"Pretty much your last good moment was your wedding."

Damn kids. They always know just how to hurt you. Least mine do and there are still young. I can't imagine how bad it will be when they are teenagers.

When I turned 37, my son said I better hurry and get married because I only had three good years left! Little does he know that I'm planning on my 40s being the BEST years of my life...

I got my 15 year old son in a harsh way the other day. He said that Clone was the best looking child of the three, and went on to say he and his brother were kind of ugly. I told him that I suspect a lot had to do with the stress surrounding my first two pregnancies, that didn't exist when I was pregnant with Clone. (I was 17 & 18 when the boys were born, vs. 26 & married when Clone arrived.)

He seemed shocked that I didn't say something like "oh honey you're not ugly" and pat him on the head. The fact remains that I did not agree with him, nor did I disagree with him.

Wow. That's pretty mean! Gotta love the innocence of the babes -- at least until it turns on you :) Personally (and having not seen your wedding picture) I wouldn't say that was it for you!

Well, last night, Clairey walked in the bedroom as I was getting out of the shower, and although she INSISTS that it wasn't intentional, she started singing, "I like big butts and i cannot lie...those other brothers can't deny.."

Seriously. And for those of you wondering, she knows that song from Shrek. Thanks, Dreamworks. A big 'ol freakin THANKS.
