I'M NOT THE BIGGEST BITCH IN THIS RELATIONSHIP

Congratulations
Katie from Noblesville!
Please email me your full name and address at stephanieelliot@gmail.com
so I can send you your book!

Here’s a book I know a lot of you are going to love because I’ve done doggy books before and many of you go crazy over them! And what an adorable cover, and oh, yeah, did I mention that many of my favorite authors took part in this anthology?

It’s called I’m Not the Biggest Bitch in This Relationship: Hilarious, Heartwarming Tales about Man’s Best Friend from America’s Favorite Humorists, which was edited by Wade Rouse and includes essays from Sarah Pekkanen, Jen Lancaster, Jenny Gardiner, Beth Harbison, Laurie Notaro, Caprice Crane, Stephanie Klein, Alice Bradley, and a forward by Chelsea Handler’s Dog, Chunk. Many other fine authors contributed to this anthology, and you can win it here on MaNiC MoMMy.

If you’ve got a pet, whether it’s a dog, cat or any other type (and I know many of you do, because DAMN, you all let ‘em sleep in your freakin’ beds!), tell me how you let them rule a part of your lives.

If you don’t have a pet, tell me something else interesting about you, because if you’re not a pet owner, you’re still an interesting person. Oh, come on, YES YOU ARE! You HAVE VALUE! SURE YOU DO! I KNOW YOU DO!

I no longer have a pet but I did have a cat once. I just adored her! Actually I was living with my Mom (elderly at the time)and she wanted the cat and I didn't. Don't get me wrong I like pets but I had lived with numerous roommates who had cats and well the cat hair on everything etc. so anyway I just didn't want one. My Mom and my sister showed up with her and well what can I say she took over, my heart included. So that's my story.

My cat rules my life because even on the weekend when I just want to lay in bed and sleep late, I have to get up to feed her because she keeps meowing at me until I do.

I technically still have a chow / rottweiler mix named Buddy, but she now lives with my ex-in-laws. I LOVE this dog! She totally ruled our lives. Whenever we went over to the in-laws, we would take her with us, and she would sleep in our bed (taking up half of it).

She's 14 now, and I know it's getting towards the end, but I'm not ready. This dog is the perfect combo of scary to strangers and loyal to her family. When I was pregnant, everyone told us we'd have to get rid of her, but she loved my girls so much, right from birth. She would sleep at the door of our oldest's room, and when the second came along, she shifted slightly so she was right inbetween both of their bedroom doors! She still does this when the girls spend the night at their grandparents!

Our dog Sophie has only to knock on the door and I come running with a scrap of food. Well, that's what she thinks. Actually she sticks her nose to the little window beside the door to see if she can see me in the house. If she does she pecks on the glass with her paw. She did this once which reminded me I hadn't fed her so when I fed her I guess she figured all she had to do was ask.

my dogs did rule the house until my youngest grandson came along, now that's his job.

My dog Gus has a sensitive stomach, and every night for almost 6 years I have gotten up once or twice in the night to let him out. I never get angry at him, and I do fall back asleep quickly, but it is a pain...and thats why he rules! (if my kids had done that, I can't tell you how I would have reacted. lol)

My cat that I had for 16 years just passed away last week. She was 18 years old and lived a good life with us but I miss her. I had her even before I met my husband. When the two of them met, they were instantly jealous of each others relationship with me. Eventually the cat had to accept that he would be in my life but she wasn't happy about it. When hubby and I would snuggle, etc, she would always try to climb between us. I miss her lots.

We have a dog (Diablo) and a cat (Abner). They both rule the house - each in his own way. Abner has his own glass to drink out of because he does not like bowls. Diablo, I've mentioned before on here, rules our roost by sleeping in our bed with us. The hubs and I have been known to wake up "squished" to the sides of the bed with the big boy hogging the complete middle of the bed.

My dog (Haley) definitely rules my life. She is so cute so I don't mind it at all. She just had surgery to remove a tumor from her belly and she's been having some liver problems so she's gone through a lot. I can't even give her treats to make her feel better because now she's on a special diet because of her liver problems. She doesn't sleep in my bed because she would never want to but I definitely take her on really long walks. When it's hot out and I want to go home I keep going because I know how happy it makes her and that's all I care about. She's a sweetie.

Thank you,

Are you kidding me? Our dog rules the house, no doubt. I was ready to kill her this morning since she decided to bark ALL NIGHT LONG. Ever since the new neighbors moved in she has been up all night barking. You see, she has a big ole crush on the neighbor dog. Cute but not at 3 am. She also has eaten my clothes and when I first moved in she would throw my people off the bed and in to the bathroom.

My dog rules mine and my husbands life. She is such a great dog though and honestly when she gives you that sweet face you can't be mad at her anymore if she has done something wrong. I have had dogs my whole life so I cannot imagine my life without one.

My cat, Eloise Peaches, sleeps with me and whenever she wants to take my spot in bed (I live alone and have a queen sized bed) I'll move for her. Or if she wants to come under the covers to sleep, like most nights, she'll wake me up and I'll lift the covers for her to come under. She's not spoiled at all...

We have 2 dogs. I've had mine since before I met my fiance (since 2006); Chula was only 4 weeks old when we got her (her mother wasn't producing milk, she's a cocker who was actually being fed by a chihuahua so she had already been weened) and the WHOLE first summer I had her I went NOWHERE. I had to take care of my "baby". Also she does NOT like to be carried like a dog. She *must* have her arms around your shoulders and you must hold her close. :)

We got Nova in 2008 and she is my fiance's "discount puppy" (we picked her up from our Humane Society). Random nights he will say that "his girl" is gonna sleep with us tonight where she will proceed to lay in between the two of us (making an "H") with her head towards him and her "tail" towards me. I think we know who her favorite is...

We've tried really hard to not let our dog, Mia, rule our house. However, if I'm on the couch, you better bet she is either on my lap or snuggled right up next to me if I don't want her on me. She also always wants her belly rubbed so if you're not doing it, she will nuzzle her nose at your hands or swat like a cat to let you know you're not paying her enough attention.

Our dog Tino just generally owns the house. Every blanket in the house is his blanket, and he'll pile them up to lay on top of, or burrow under the big pile if he's cold. If you get out of your seat on the couch, he immediately jumps up into it to take the warm spot.

We have a female Boxer named Razz...she rules the roost sometimes! She hates to be "kenneled" in the laundry room, so she jumps over the baby gate. So when she does this, we give in and let her hang out in the "tv room" with little man. She will either cuddle with him on the floor or get in her little "cave" between the sofa and big comfy chair.

We have a German Shorthair Pointer named Lilly. Basically she's my third child and thinks she's human. She's is finally mellowing out at 2.5. We got her after our other dog Sadie, got hit by a car. I really did this without thinking. My husband was so heartbroken that I agreed to a new puppy. However, having a 10 month old baby and a preschooler at the time, was not the best timing. We should have waited a bit. Melissa Rem

i have two cats and a dog, all of whom rule my and my husband's lives. the cats are both snackers, and on different kinds of food, so they have to be fed separately and we can't just leave food out. i'm on day duty, since i work at home, and my husband gets nights, when he is often up 3-4 times to feed one of the cats. as for the dog, she is getting older and she's already delicate, both in disposition and body (she's a greyhound), so i don't travel anywhere i can't take her. i miss some thing, but it's also a built in excuse not to do stuff with the inlaws sometimes, too. :)

My Mom had two cats she got right after my father passed away. Now 5 years later she shold her house and couldn't take the cats with her. My fiance being the big old softy he is volunteered to take them in at our house. They now rule his life b/c he is obsessed with feeding them, playing with them and letting them outside about a thousand times a day. My life I am proud to say has pretty much stayed the same with the exception of aving to add kitty food, litter and lint rollers to my weekly shopping list.

I'm an accidental crazy cat lady and run kind of a small-scale rescue out of my garage. The cats are allowed to run free during the day, but when darkness falls, they know to come in so I can feed them and "tuck them in" for the night. My friends call it "herding" and know not to call just as the sun sets, as I'm preoccupied with administering meds, cleaning litter boxes and getting their dinners ready. Many times, someone has called and before my boyfriend can tell them what I'm up to, my friend will say "I know she can't come to the phone because she's doing the round-up". It's a crazy life, but it's my life. :)

P.S. Spay and neuter!

We used to have a chocolate lab named Gus that could hear when I was pouring popcorn into my bowl. He would come into the kitchen to get some. And I, of course, would always drop a handful on the floor for him to eat - whoops, how did that happen?

He also knew when I was making caramel corn. He would stand and watch the floor waiting for some to drop out of the pan as I was stirring the batch. And yep, some always made it to the floor!

oFirst of all I am a five-star hotel girl, unless I am flying somewhere or going to an island, we take our dogs with us on vacation and you know what that means, holiday inns ugh. But they don't like to be left behind on weekend trips to vermont or the country. My dog sitter just moved away to Fla. my little one is very fussy, but my big doggie will stay with anyone who will give him treats. So my dogs rule my short getaways and make me give up luxury.

Carly said...

My cats rule everything. They wake me up early on the weekends to be fed. I share my pillow with the oldest female. My youngest male pushes the food bowls from the counter when they are running low, spilling any remaining food. I bought them a pet fountain so they can drink running water.
It doesn't end.

Our dog rules our house more than I do. He sleeps in our bed, hangs out with us, when we get ice cream he gets his own, he gets really expensive food and all natural treats, sweaters, etc. His favorite thing to do is go on golf cart rides when we're at our camp. My husband has to take him for a ride at least once a day.

Our chocolate lab, Bailey, is our first "child". Bailey was our wedding present to ourselves nearly 10 years ago and he has ruled the house ever since. He does not, however, sleep in our beds (anymore). Instead, Bailey must be in the center of all four family members at all times. During the day, he positions himself to where he can see all the entrances to the various rooms we may be in, which means he can usually be found blocking the central hallway. At night, he sleeps in the living room centrally located to all three bedrooms and often wakes us all up as he "talks" in his sleep. Love that dog!

No pets, not even growing up - my mom was/is allergic to everything - so the only thing I ever had was goldfish...or some tadpoles, once. Anyway, my most recent pet was in college; a fish that I named Mr. Sexypants. He lived for MONTHS, despite the fact that I forgot to feed him (a lot), change his water, etc. When it seemed he had finally gone belly-up, I put him in the toilet and flushed...and he started swimming around fairly ferociously. I guess maybe he hadn't been dead, just sluggish from the water being dirty? It was terrible.

You better believe I'm up as early as possible because I don't want them to suffer one second (especially when I've been gone and had to board them.) Trust me, though, they are totally worth it!
