Well, the books are back and today’s book up for grabs is The Mistress’s Revenge, which Bookseller had called “A cracking debut … very Fatal Attraction with a clever twist at the end.”
When Clive decides to end his and Sally’s five-year love affair to focus on his wife and family, Sally becomes a bit obsessed, not ready to say, “okay, we’ve had five good years, maybe I should focus on my own kids and lover now.” Nope, she decides she’s going to stalk Clives son, and follow Clive’s wife and daughter on FB (not that I’ve ever checked out the exes on FB – HEY, there’s NOTHING wrong with THAT!!!)
Told in journal format, it does take a while to get into it, and there are some racy scenes about their illicit affair, and yeah, Sally goes a little crazy, but does she deserve the revenge she seeks? I mean, come on, Clive TOLD her he was breaking it off with her. It’s not like she has to go boil a bunny or anything, right? Ha ha ha.
Here’s the official blurb for the book:
It starts with a casual stroll past his house, and popping into the brasserie where his son works. Then Sally starts following Clive’s wife and daughter on Facebook. But that’s alright, isn’t it? These are perfectly normal things to do. Aren’t they?
Not since Fatal Attraction has the fallout from an illicit affair been exposed in such a sharp, darkly funny, and disturbing way: The Mistress’s Revenge is a truly exciting fiction debut. After all, who doesn’t know an otherwise sane woman who has gone a little crazy when her heart was broken?
So, I usually keep with a theme for the books but I’m not going to ask a cheater/stalker question. Since it is Halloween, and since Fatal Attraction was a pretty scary movie, to enter to win this book, tell me one of your most scary movies? Mine are either Misery or Cujo!

It is always at my discretion to change things up, and because of some regulations, I guess I must say that the books I review are given to me by either the authors or publishers or publicists, and I am never paid for my reviews, and they are my own personal reviews, and you know what, because I'm here telling you this anyway, I will also tell you that I never review a book I don't like, because you know what, why waste my time, life is too short to read a crappy book! There.

So believe it or not Fatal Attraction is one of my most scary movies ever! When I was like 9 years old I was at a sleepover (for my older, cooler neighbor) and they made me watch it. I was traumatized and to this day won't watch scary movies!
It's not really scary, but "Rosemary's Baby" has always freaked me out.
Of the new batch of scary movies, "Paranormal Activity" ranks right up there. Of the classics, I have to pick "Jaws." I still can't swim in a lake (never mind an ocean) without thinking about it! Thanks for the chance to win!
Ugh...I hate hate hate scary movies. I'll choose Misery but even the new Paranormal Movie trailer creeps me out!

The Shining
Mine is the Exorcist. I hate that movie! I really hate things to do with devil or demon possession. I even hate seeing any previews (although it's an old movie now) This book looks very good though!

"Something Wicked This Way Comes" scared the crap out of my friends and me when we were teenagers.
Scariest movies? "Dressed to Kill" and "The Hitcher" (original)
Hi Manic...the last scary movie I watched was "The Mothman Prophecies". It scared the CRAP out of me and I haven't watched anything scary since. The other movie that comes to mind, tho, is "Silence of the Lambs"...OMG. Gross and freaky!!!! Anyway, so glad you are feeling better. We missed you around here!! :) Nan
HAHA! This is totally crazy but my younger brother and I went to see House of Wax (w/ Paris Hilton..LOL!) and we loved it so much we went back to the movies the next weekend to see it again. We don't know why we like...because it's pretty low on the standards scale...but its our fave!

Poltergeist
As a kid my scariest movies and still most loved movies to watch on Halloween are:
Something Wicked this way comes
and
Watcher in the woods

I prefer the more suspenseful scary vs plain horror scary movies. Identity, The Ring, The Crazies just to name a few!
I hate scary movies. I can't even watch the commercials on TV without getting freaked out! But IT was pretty scary!
qweska8402
Silence of the Lambs still petrified me! I haven't seen that movie in over 20 years, but will occasionally have a Hanibal Lector nightmare.
Colbey J
Paranormal Activity!!
i am still creeped out by the ring and the grudge, and i havent seen either in YEARS.
I LOVE SCARY MOVIES! I loved the Paranormal movies and can't wait to see the 3rd one. I also love the Silence of the Lambs movies and The 6th sense.
The Strangers!
Stephen King's IT is by far the scariest movie ever for me. Though Poltergeist is also up there. I watched 1408 last night and it was trippy too.
Carly H
I despise scary movies and avoid them at all costs, but one that I have seen and still have nightmares about: ET. Don't judge me, that was scary!
ID Eloisepeaches
My scary movie is Halloween. The first one
The Shining!!!
Actually I'm a big scaredy cat, so any scary movie I watch (when at home) I turn the sound real low when they start playing "that" music (you know which one I'm talking about...where you KNOW somethings coming). It's so much less frightening without the sound. You should hear my Black Swan movie experience home alone with two dogs. LOL!

I love Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the newer version.
Thanks!

Chainsaw Massacre - the newest version - I am pretty sure it gave me appendicitis.
I can't handle scary movies. I even change the channel when trailers for scary movies come on. I'm such a baby.
the exorcist...without a doubt.
I agree with whoever said that the commercials for Paranormal Activity freak them out! Scary movie for me is Nightmare on Elm Street - the first and the original!
I think The Shining is one of the greatest movies ever! Jack N. is superb in that role. But one I could not finish was Pet Cemetery. Too creepy thinking about our beloved pets coming back from the dead.
Friday the 13th, the first one
I watched an old movie on TV once called Cape Fear with Robert Mitchum. I found it really scary.
I am such a baby, I can't stand scary movies. I've never seen a Freddy or Jason movie, any of the Paranormal Activity movies, the Exorcist or anything! The scariest one I've ever seen was a movie called Event Horizon. It's a sci-fi horror movie that a bunch of my friends got together to watch in high school. It was terrifying!

The movie that totally freaks me out every time I see it is The Entity. Even though I know what's going to happen I still get scared.
I would have to go with Misery. Scary movies don't scare me unless there is a degree of realism to it.
Fear! :)
The original Night of the Living Dead is still the best!
I remember being really scared by the craft when I was younger.
Ally
poltergeist scared me so much when i was younger that I havent really been able to watch any scary movies since
Definitely silence of the lambs!
Misery is a great movie. Copycat scared the dickens out of me. Untraceable is another favorite.

I LOVE scary movies! Strangers gave me the creeps.
kndyer
The Ring is pretty scary... it always freaks me out when that girl comes out of the tv. Happy Halloween!
Kristi Hooke
Well, I'm a total wimp when it comes to scary movies and I never watch them. I remember getting really freaked out by Pet Cemetery when I was younger so I guess I'll say that one!
ChristinaL
Gosh, I don't remember the last scary movie I saw. I stopped watching them after I became single. No one to keep me company at night after I watch one. "Silence of the Lambs" and "The Shining" come to mind. That red rum kid is pretty freaky!
Terri M.
Definitely "Attack of the Killer Clowns". So freaky and I saw it when I was like 7.
-Philly5
I don't really watch scary movies because when I was little I decided to sneak and watch Amityville Horror and it scared me so much. My husband watches scary movies I go to another room and read.
I don't watch scary movies. I'm a wuss. Although I love Silence of the Lambs.
I know that it's a true story but I still get freaked out about "Titanic". It is haunting how they showed some of the people that just gave up and were waiting to sink.
-Donna W.
Christine...
Loved it so much I named my daughter Cristina!
Yeah...this one is easy for me. It's Rosemary's Baby. I was raised as a catholic so that was beyond creepy enough for me. I think it's because it just rings so real to me based on what I was taught about evil. Since I had my daughter almost 11 years ago I can't watch any horror/scary movies anymore.
Stephen King's It has ruined clowns for me...and sewers are always super scarey.
Carrie. enough said
House of Wax! When they come up from the floor and slice the achilles tendons it grosses me out and I hate walking down open stairs now. :)
Nightmare on Elm Street
The Shining with Jack Nicholson. I was also freaked out watching The Birds, by Hitchcock.
The movies that scared the crap out of me when I was a kid was Children of the Corn and Cujo...they still give me the creeps today!!
I'm not a fan of scary movies and I went with my mom (she made me go with)and we saw the Sixthe Sense. Scared the beejus outta me!
Amanda
When I was a kid and saw "Watcher in the Woods" for the first time, I was definitely freaked. I still think it is the scariest Disney movie ever made.
Hands down children of the corn or poltergeist, my parents get the award for letting me as a kid watch them and forever be scarred :o)
The Shining scares the crap out of me!
IT. *shudder*
The Shining
I am such a wuss so I never watch scary movies. I did manage to sit through Scream and Halloween without being to traumatized though.
Original Halloween and Friday the 13th. The Shining was freaky too, though!
Mine is the exorcist!!! It is so scary but so so good!!!
The shinning
I'll be honest, I don't like scary movies at all.
Amy Goddard
My husband and I watched this movie in Spanish with my cousin last year. It was pretty scary and there was a huge language barrier. Unfortunately I do not remember the name of the movie.
The Shining.
Nicole
The original Halloween. Holy scary, Batman! I saw this movie way too young, I think maybe around five or six, and I have been scarred for life. Michael Myers scares the crap out of me. A few years ago I was bringing my sister in law somewhere on Halloween and there was someone dressed as Michael Myers on the side of the road. They stepped into the crosswalk right as I drove by and I nearly crashed. I also may have screamed like a big baby lol. I don't know what it is about him, I just can't get past it :(
the scariest movie I think I've seen was Pet Cemetary when I was like...7. It was on tv and my babysitter let me watch it! Also The Exorcism of Emily Rose was pretty terrifying.
I love scary movies. The original Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street are good. Another one is Silence of the Lambs - Anthony Hopkins was genius in that role. LeslieGC
The Ring really freaked me out!!
As a kid, I loved Halloween (esp the first one) and Friday the 13th. No wonder I had troubles sleeping as a child :o
Pet Cemetery scared the shit out of me when I was younger. But I'd have to say The Shining is the creepiest movie I've seen. Nothing to me is very scary, though. All of the new movies out right now are so terrible. The only thing Paranomal Activity did for me was give me motion sickness and yearn for my $9 back.
The Ring was the last scary movie I remember... my friends and I screamed in the theater :)
i prefer not to watch scary movies. child's play freaked me out. especially now that i have lots of toys with a mind of their own.

First off I own this book so don't want to be in the contest but want to post for overall stuff!
I'm pretty easily scared in movies but I still think The Shining is really creepy!
I HATE scary movies- blocked em from my mind- can I just say TV series "Revenge"?
I like The Shining, Poltergeist and Silence of the lambs.
The Exorcist or Paranormal Activity. PA is just ridiculously scary!
Phantasm was my most scary movie. My stepdad loved scary movies and I was subjected to sitting through many at a way too young age!
The Exorcist!
I think that the scariest movies to me are:
1- The Entity. This one scares me, no matter how old I get nor how many times I watch it.
2- IT - Sure, it might not be a 'horror' movie, but clowns scare me!
3- Most recently would be the Paranormal Activity movies. The previews alone freak me out.
*crosses fingers for luck!*
Thanks!
Shannyn (shestillsmiles @ gmail)
I agree with Cujo - I was so scared watching that movie in the movie theatre. JillFay
I HATE scary movies - E.T. still freaks me out. :)
Kristen27
Chuckie! My brothers tortured me with my own dolls making me think they were Chuckie-like.
I love scary movies...the only movie that has really, truly scared me is The Strangers. I think because it was based on a true story and could really happen.
SAW was one of the worst and scariest ever.
queenofcrunk at gmail dot com
I have to say that The Sixth Sense actually kept me awake at night. I was afraid to get up and go to the bathroom for fear a cold chill would go through the air!
