Three FOUR Things to Share:

1.

So, Ajers is studying the constitution in fifth grade and he had to do some speech in class on a historical figure. He chose to be Benjamin Franklin. He got a wig and some funky glasses for his speech. When we were talking about it later in the day ... well, let me just set up the conversation for you:

ME: So, how'd your speech go on the constitution?

HIM: Good.

ME: What did all the girls dress as, Betsy Ross?

HIM: HOW DID YOU KNOW?!?!?!!?

OK, the kid was absolutely STUNNED that I knew a person from the constitution time. And actually, I was secretly happy with myself that I guessed right!

She made flags, didn't she? And didn't she have an affair with George Washington? Or was that Clinton?

2.

Tukey got his MRI for his knee today. He did great, and we find out results on Friday. I'm hoping it's just something to do with growth plates and it's just because he's growning too fast.

I took him to McDonald's for breakfast and when I ordered for him, I said, "Can I have a vanilla milk?"

"Vanilla milk?"

OK do ANY OF YOU call it vanilla milk or is it JUST ME?

I ALWAYS CALL IT VANILLA MILK.

It's OK to call it chocolate milk but we can't call it VANILLA milk? This is a racist thing to me. Like what if I said, "OK, I'll have a black milk."

White milk? Chocolate milk? Black milk? Vanilla milk?

See. SEE?!?!?!?! (I'm currently screaming at my computer as I type these words, trying to make my point.) I don't know why.

But really, come on. What if I were to ask for a black milk?

COME ON!

Please discuss in the comments.

And finally, number 3:

Here's a rap song I just made up in my head.

I'm a hamster on a wheel

and I just can't get off.

Go ahead and scream,

go ahead and loff!

Ya think it's funny,

you think it's a hoot!

Come on over here and

I give you da boot!

HEHE, interesting rap song... hope Tukey's knee is ok; really funny about Ajers being stunned that you knew who Betsy Ross was, lol; as for the vanilla/chocolate/white/black milk thing - I've never ever thought about it but you make a point. Now we just have to wait for the day when some fast food restaurant gets sued for racism...due to the way they write what kinds of milk they sell.../sigh

mabunny--it's bad enough the fast food places get sued for making coffee that is TOOOO hot!

I'd call it vanilla milk if it was vanilla flavored but it's not... like there is vanilla flavored soy milk and regular soy milk so there you have to make the distinction. But regular milk is not flavored vanilla, I'm sorry. You just can't call it vanilla milk. You are crazy...

I never thought to call it vanilla milk... but your point is valid (please please please don't yell at me!).

:)

Then again, I never order milk. Well, really, we just never go out to eat anywhere... or hardly ever.

Strawberry milk is my favorite. No one talks about strawberry ever. It's so good, but it gets very little following.

I think you had a 50/50 shot on the girls' costume because the only other woman we know of from that time period is Martha Washington, right?

And I'm with steph on the milk things. You only call a dairy product vanilla if it has vanilla flavoring of some sort in it. Otherwise it is just plain old plain.

Never called it vanilla milk, but I might start now.

All I know is the next time you all see a gallon of milk you're gonna me thinking "ah, that damn Manic Mom and her vanilla milk post!"

LOL!

But it isn't vanilla flavored.....

your mind works in very interesting (and somewhat disturbing) ways. I think that is why I like you.

I see the vanilla milk issue but there really is vanilla milk and then there is plain white milk...what does one do with that?

Vanilla milk! I had to laugh because there really is vanilla milk, and my daughter requests it if we happen to be at Starbucks. Horizon makes it. My daughter has informed me it is more yogurt-like than milk-like.
Too funny that your son said that -I love the funny things that fly out of kids' mouths!

Oh the Betsy Ross thing cracks me up! I love shocking the kids with the things that you know. Of course I somehow managed to skip this horrible dress up for school to give a speech thing. Thank God!

Well, chocolate milk is called that because it has chocolate in it. White milk (what I would call it or just milk) is not vanilla milk because 1) there is no vanilla in and 2) it doesn't taste like vanilla.

So yeah, you're weird. :)

Good point but really no one I know calls it vanilla milk....sorry. As racist as that might make me.....

Delurking to say that the school I work at has milk choices: White, Chocolate, Strawberry, Vanilla, and Cookies and Cream. Most of the preschoolers I teach choose vanilla milk over any other flavor. So, to us white is white, chocolate is chocolate and vanilla is vanilla.

It's not vanilla flavored. The brown milk is chocolate flavored. Sorry, I'm not with you on that one. :)

I've never called it vanilla milk, because it's not vanilla flavored. It's just milk. Chocolate milk is chocolate milk becasue it's flavored like chocoalte milk ... it's not black milk, or brown milk, nor is strawberry milk pink milk. so we have milk, chocolate milk, and strawberry milk. and now i'm just thirsty

Can I get a cookie with that?

its white milk. chocolate if its not white for my kids...easy.

calling it anything but white or chocolate will just get more stares and idle conversation than I care to have.

I know it's not vanilla flavored!

It's just what I call it! LOL!

This is Too funny AND timely!... Just the other day while "lunchaiding" for my daughters class, I had to hand out a tray of 12 chocolate milks (lowfat) and ONE 2% milk and I asked the kids (in a rather loud voice!) "who gets the vanilla milk?" ... It actually sounded odd while I said it AND the kids cracked up!... SOOOOO - apparently 7 year olds in North NJ think it's weird too!

BTW - Love the song!
