Chaos

I’m tired of the summertime chaos.

Tired of feeling disorganized, discombobulated, over-scheduled, anxious, like there are not enough hours in the day.

I look at the clock when it’s 11 a.m. and I think, “Oh my, I don’t have enough time to do all the things I have to do today.

Tired of whipping dish towels at lone flies that sneak in through the screen door.

Tired of yelling, “Close the door so the flies won’t come in!” and “Close the door because you’re letting all the cold air out!”

Tired of the oppressive Chicago heat.

Tired of cleaning the kitchen, feeding a handful of extra kids every day for lunch, although I adore those extra kids and they keep my own three kids entertained and happy.

Tired of when the kids are not entertained and happy, they are bored, irritated, crabby, whiny, hungry, thirsty, wanting a snack.

Tired of chewing this Bubble Yum Hershey’s Chocolate flavored gum I bought for Diva thinking she would love it, cuz after all, it’s chocolate. But it does kind of suck. Still, I chew away.

I’m tired of having to think about what I eat because if I don’t think I just shove crap in there, and the crap goes straight to places it doesn’t belong.

Tired of black t-shirts that I think hide fat.

I’m tired of having to make commitments, of having to fold laundry, of having to yell at my kids to take the dog out, to take the trash out, to put away their plates, to pick up their shoes, to stop crying.

I’m tired of all the demands that come with the job of being Mother, although I wouldn’t change the situation I am in at all…

Other than maybe, just a little bit, wishing for August 20 to arrive rather quickly.

In the meantime, don’t be jealous, because tomorrow I will be going out, yet again, into the oppressive Chicago heat, to take my darling and worthy children to this show.

And, really, I CAN’T WAIT TO GO!

Am I a dork or what? And in the same vain, I am also excited about this premiere on August 17!

I'm with you Manic. I'm stuck in that late July/early August rut.

Too much going on, not a free weekend in sight, bored and whiny kids, and the heat.

Now I remember why September is my favorite month.

What happens Aug 20th?

March--Yay for HSM! It is way better than GREASE, and with a much more wholesome message. And we all know how wholesome I am.

Monnik--September is a good month, nice and cool too!

Tse Tse--when I first read this, it didn't register--TSE TSE IS MY SISTER! August 20--SCHOOL STARTS HERE! YAY!

You know what else I am sick of?

The beach towels all over the deck, the sand in the tracks of the sliding door, all 3 pairs of shorts that I've worn over and over, the sandals stacked at every door and making dinner for people who are too hot to eat it.

School starts August 15 here! Today is HS check-in and tomorrow, I'm going to LA for 5 days!

But, I've been there with you MM!

I'm sick of summer!

Luckily the kids are too young for extra activities. We were going to enroll Big Cubby in little league but the baby was due then and it seemed too much to do at the time. Next summer will probably be a different story.

a couple of new pics on my site.

You're suffering from the "school's out for summer" blues.
Thank God there's always an end in sight.

for once, in my entire life, i am not tired of the summer heat...because we haven't had any. Texas. I live in Texas. and we haven't had any heat. damn global warming...

I can't understand your excitement about High School Musical, but my daughter who is 15, is still thrilled by it. She wants to have friends over to watch, although most of the kids her age make fun of it.
It's always fun to watch your kids get excited about something.

Patti, maybe you need to trade in the tiny Expedition for a Hummer?? Texas! Puleeeze!

it's a good thing you had kids so you can have a legitimate reason to be hooked on High School Musical, don't you think?

The heat and humidity of summer in Chicago can suck the life out of you. Stand in the refrigerator door for a while. It helps.

Chocolate gum? That sounds so vile. (shudder) What if it ruined chocolate eatting?

I usually feel just like you do. But this year I'm starting to fret that summer is almost over and I haven't had a chance to enjoy it with my kids in the least.

But next summer when I'm getting to do the fun stuff and I start getting tired of everything I know I'll feel just like this again.

I feel the same way!

Bug and I also can't wait for HSM2! We're counting down the days.

tell me, how oppressive is the chicago heat? because it's 98 degrees out, with a heat index around 100 something or another and 100% humidity here.

I'm just curious if it sucks that much, even up north. LOL

I'm ready for school to start too. For some reason my kids have just wanted to hang out with me. I'm sure it won't be long before I'm "no fun", but I'm ready for a little break!
We don't go back until Aug. 27.

Manic Mom--

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Do you think you have me confused with someone else b/c I haven't updated my blog's layout since Blogger changed its format months or a year ago. Or maybe it's the new photo I have?

And I've got a post on the baby debate waiting for editing and another draft. It may take me a while, but I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on it (assuming you'll read it and share them of course) when I post it.I'll try to come here and let you know . . .

MM, these are the good old days you'll be missing when the kids are grown and gone. Trust me - I know what-of I speak.

The heat does suck, though. At least you have seasons. Here it's always summer.
