THEN CAME YOU by Jennifer Weiner

Winner announced HERE!

I can’t believe I didn’t give away Jennifer Weiner’s Then Came You last year when it came out in hard cover! Well, lucky for you all, I get to offer it up on the blog now! This was one of my favorites from Jen – a story about love and fertility and babies. It’s been a long while since I read this one, over a year, but it was a great read, and I know you all will love it. How can you not, it’s a JW book!

I owe this blog to her – her A Moment of Jen was the first blog I ever read and it inspired me to start my own blog, and Good in Bed was the first chick lit book I ever got attached to. I’ve been to about four of Jen’s book readings, and it would probably be up to 10 by now, if we hadn’t moved to the freaking west, because she goes to Chicago A LOT (in fact, she’s going to be there with my other FAVES, Sarah Pekkanen and Jen Lancaster (SIDENOTE: Seriously, I googled their three names TOGETHER to find out where & when they’re going to all be together and the FIRST five hits all went to MY BLOG!) … but the three of them will be doing something in Chicago on July 13, so make sure to check in for more info!

Anyway, here’s the scoop on Then Came You by Jennifer Weiner:

Jules Strauss is a Princeton senior on a full scholarship who plans on selling her “pedigree” eggs to help save her father from addiction.

Annie Barrow, a struggling Pennsylvania housewife, thinks that carrying another woman’s child will help her recover a sense of purpose and will bring in some much-needed cash.

India Bishop, thirty-eight (really, forty-three) and recently married to the wealthy Marcus Croft, yearns for a baby for reasons that have more to do with money than with love. When her attempts at pregnancy fail, she turns to Jules and Annie to make her dreams come true.

But each of their plans is thrown into disarray when Bettina, Marcus’s privileged daughter, becomes suspicious that her new stepmother is not what she seems . . .

So you definitely want to check out THEN CAME YOU or try to win it here first!

Here’s more info! Jennifer is offering a FREE short story called SWIM on May 8 – you can pre-order it on Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com.  SWIM is originally from Jen's short story collection The Guy Not Taken, and after she spent time in Los Angeles co-producing the ABC Family show, “State of Georgia,” she knew she wanted to continue.  SWIM is the inspiration for her forthcoming novel, THE NEXT BEST THING (Atria Books, July 3, 2012). Which I will ALSO be giving away later this summer.

The Next Best Thing will be on shelves July 3rd. Set against the fascinating backdrop of Los Angeles show business culture, with an insider's ear and eye for raunchy writer's rooms, bad behavior backstage and set politics, Jennifer Weiner's new novel is a rollicking ride on the Hollywood rollercoaster, and a heartfelt story about what it's like for a young woman to love, and lose, in the land where dreams come true…

To enter to win Then Came You, tell me if you’ve read Jennifer Weiner, what is your favorite book by her? I think Then Came You is mine! If you haven’t read her books, WHY NOT?

I absolutely LOVE Jennifer's books! I think I first heard about her from your blog, way back in the day. :)

My favorite book (although, it's hard to choose just one) is Good In Bed. I instantly fell in love with her writing style, and found myself relating to so many parts of that book.

So, thank you for getting me informed of all things Jenn! :)

Best Friends Forever!!

I think that's the only one I've read; although I have a few. Don't hate me! It's not my fault. I have a problem. I am a book hoarder.

You know what doesn't help my cause? The super awesome book sale that happens twice a month down here near Houston. (Hardcovers are marked to $1 and paperbacks are less than that!) Which by the way started yesterday!! woop!

Then Came You was absolutely fabulous! Written like a Jodi Picoult novel with different narrative voices or points of view, Then Came You tells the story of four women, with little in common, who become hopeless entangled with each other through a surprising common bond: a child. With infertility and science at the core of this novel, Then Came You is surprisingly emotional. How each of the four women come together to play a role in the life of this child is both beautiful and heartbreaking.
