INDIA'S SUMMER by Thérèse

Click this link to find out who the winner is:

A little glimpse into the behind-the-scenes life of LA!

If you've ever been curious about what the real LA lifestyle might be like, then you'll really enjoy India's Summer. If you're a fan of the more stylish lifestyle and Rodeo drive and shopping and fashion, there's plenty of mention of the finer things in life in this great end-of-the-summer read as well!

India's Summer has been blurbed by some very famous people, including these stars below you might be interested in!

“India’s Summer avoids the familiar clichés of LA and yet captures the character of the city so well.”– Orlando Bloom

“India’s fascinating character is what makes India’s Summer a compelling read. she is trying to make a big shift in her life, in her career, in the choices she’s making. She’s funny, clever and vulnerable and you are rooting for her every step of the way.”– Goldie Hawn

Here's the back of the book blurb:

India Butler, single and about to turn forty, who travels from London to LA to reinvent herself. In a world illuminated by the flashbulbs of the paparazzi, she discovers the true meaning of “having it all’ while spending the summer with her sister Annabelle, a famous Hollywood actress, and her brother-in-law, a legendary rock musician.

They welcome India into their opulent, fast-paced lifestyle, whisking her from fabulous fundraisers to parties each more opulent than the last. This does nothing for India’s confidence and she maintains a wry detachment until she begins dating Adam, a gorgeous A- list actor. In an attempt to appear more successful she lies to him about her career.

Disaster strikes and India is drawn behind the veneer of Hollywood glitz and glamor and into Hollywood’s private lives. As her illusions about the perfection of their LA lifestyle fade away, India has an epiphany about her own real talents.

India is in her element until her new life in LA unravels.

Since India made a big change in her life at the age of 40, tell me, if you're not yet 40, do you think about a big change in your life when you get there? If you have already turned 40, what did you do to celebrate? For my 40th, Mr. Manic and I went to Playa de Carmen for 5 days -- lotsa fun!

I'm too far away from 40 to know if i'll need to make a change by then!

I've got a way to go until 40. I'm hoping by then, life will have settled down and I won't need any changes!

I'm a few years under 40 and have just made a few changes so I think things are starting to change gradually as I approach that milestone. I do think it would be fun to mark the occasion with a big trip. We'll see what happens closer to that time :)

I have only about 2 years until I'm 40, but I don't plan any major changes by then, although my daughter will be starting kindergarten around then, and I'll be home alone, at least for 1/2 days!

I'm more than a few years away from 40, but I kind of hope there won't be any big changes when it comes around. I'm looking forward to some calm and stability!

i'm 8 years beyond 40, i didn't do any noteworthy celebrating from what i can remember. i did, however welcome my first niece a month after my birthday!

I've still got a few yrs to 40. But there are things I would like to squeeze in before then. namely marriage and/or a child. I'm not opposed to a child born out of wedlock. :) If by then I don't have either of these things, then I'll probably make some sort of drastic life change at that time. Quit my job & move away somewhere or just get knocked up on purpose.

I decided to lose weight when I was about to turn 40 soon. I lost 35 lbs and have kept it off for a while now.

My son will be turning 16 when I'm 40, I may need medication does that count as a change?

40 has come and gone for many years. I don't think I made any major changes. Now, I'm trying to be healthier than I was when I was younger.

I have about twenty years to go! I'm hoping my life won't be too different when I'm 40. I'm sure I'll be trying to eat less and work out more since my metabolism will probably be crap by then!

Thanks!

40 came and went a while ago. I 3have become mellower with age. Let things not bother me and go with the flow. Try to be healthier in body and mind and appreciate each day.

I hope to make some major changes by 40, specifically I'd like to be married with at least one child by then. I've got about six years so here's hoping I can make it happen. :)

I woke up on my 40th birthday with a grey hair , wrinkles, and hot flashes? So my day was spent at the Dr getting my hormone levels checked

Year and a half until the big 4-0. Can't say that I'm looking forward to it. If I could just lose 10 pounds!

Well I think I made my big change at 32 rather then 40. I'm sure I will have another one but it's still 7 years away so I'm not sure what it will be at this point. I moved from Northern California to Boston, MA without a job or knowing a soul. I Just didn't feel CA for was my home and I've always been pulled to the East Coast. Even thought I had only been here for one 5 day visit before I made my decision. Best move I could have made!

I'm about 4 years away from 40 and I don't have any real changes coming. I'm afraid of change but by the time I'm 40 I would love to be doing something new in nursing!!

I am under 40 but by that age I'd like to have a child and that would be a major life changing moment.

Went to Starbucks, played 18 holes of golf and then went home and grilled the perfect steak! Does it get any better?

I have 14 more years to go so not too sure but I'd like to think I'd be a mom by then.

I am sad to report that I did nothing exciting for my 40th and I'm ok with that. My 50th might be a different story, tho. My boy will be out of the house and a cruise with my best friend might be in order!! Can't wait!! :)

This book sounds really good....

Have a great weekend, Manic!!

Hugs, Nan

I have 4 years to 40 and I don't really expect anything "big". I do know I'll have 2 teens in the house at that time (1 boy; 1 girl) so I'm sure there will be fun times to be had :o)

When I turned 40 I decided to shed those extra pounds because i refused to be 40 and frumpy!! Lol So I made the decision to exercise more and eat less crap and so far so good!! Not very exciting, but I feel (and look) better!! (And I went on a cruise with my friend for HER 40th! Lots of fun!!! :). )

I have a few years...but I am hopeful that my life will be content then. I have a few changes I need to make and want to be able to celebrate that I got over the road blocks.

Hopefully I'll be in a better place when I'm 40 and won't need to change anything!

I'm 34, I feel like a big change is needed now and not when I'm 40 but of.course don't where to start!

Carly said...

I'm going to be 33 in a few days. Big changes seem to be happening to me constantly so I am not even thinking about the big 4-0. I'm sure I'll celebrate but until then I'll take one year at a time. :)

I definitely think turning 40 will impact me. I whined when turned 25, and I'm dreading turning 30.

8 years to go until I'm 40, but changes will definitely be in the cards. By then, I'll be married with kids, and since my 30th birthday was such a bust (let's just say I sat crying in a restaurant--not in a good way), I would love to make it a big deal and just have a great life going! :)

Lizett34 said...

I am making big changes now at my current age. I am hoping that I will be settled and stable by the time I reach that 40 milestone =)!

Kimmi said...

I didn't do anything big to celebrate my 40th, other than to look closely at my life and analyze what changes needed to be made. I'm doing okay in that dept, although there have been some disgruntled people along the way.

My 40th was a the end of June. I was at the beach with a ton of great friends (10 yo son's baseball tournament)! The day started with the beach, then moved to a few cocktails, watching my son pitch in a World Series game, then going to a bar to cap the night off. Best birthday from start to finish...first one being single again too!

I have about two and a half years (am I too old to count in half years yet?) and I definitely hope for big changes. I am still struggling to find my place in my post divorce life. It feels a bit like when you are fresh out of college. I hope by 40 I have my finances in a much settled place and maybe even am on my way to finding love again.

I'll be turning 35 in a couple of months, and if I have to endure some of the "changes" that I have alreday gone through in the past few years, especially the hormonal ones, I may go crazy! Hubs and I are going to Holbox, Mexico to celebrate our bdays next month. Our 15th anniversary will be coming up in 2 1/2 years and we want to do a vow renewal...so hopefully there won't be too much to change when 40 gets here for me!

Just turned 40 and so far life has remained status quo. 40 Was a tough one for me, so I refused to do anything unusual to celebrate - a simple dinner out and cake with the family was enough!
