I LoVe iT WHeN THeY LeaRN FRoM oNe aNoTHeR

AFTER YOU READ THIS, PLEASE GO READ THE PREVIOUS POST ABOUT HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO DONATE BLOOD AND HOW YOU CAN WIN A TRIP TO FLORIDA FOR DOING SO! AND LATER THIS WEEK, I'LL TELL YOU MORE ABOUT THE GRAND PRIZE TRIP AND OTHER PRIZES FOR THE DRIVE THIS YEAR! Now, we bring you the childish Manic antics:

Isn't it grand when children can learn from each other. Such a great thing. Take today for instance. But be warned. If you're not into bad-word talk with your kids, well, maybe you should just skip this post. Or definitely don't drink a beverage while reading.

So, we're all in the car driving who knows where and the boys spot a Dick's Sporting Goods.

Do you see where I'm going with this already? Good.

Boys start laughing. Like Beavis and Butthead laughing.

Diva doesn't get what's so funny when sons start saying, "Hey, look, Dick's. Heh heh. Tukey, I see a Dick's."

"Yeah, I see Dick's too. Do you see Dick's over there?"

"Yep, right there. There's a Dick's."

And I'm driving in sucky traffic and I go, "Stop it boys. Right now. Just drop it. Enough!"

And Tukey and Ajers are cracking up because it's a dumb boy joke and they can't control themselves.

And of course, Diva is like, "What's so funny? Why are you guys laughing? Why won't you tell me? ... DICK? DICK!!! Why are you saying dick? What's so funny about dick?

ME: Well, NOW you HAVE TO TELL HER!

The laughing stops. Ajers says:

It's a naughty word for a weiner.

(And of course, in my mind, in the back of my head, I am laughing my total ass off because this is one of the funniest conversations I've EVER had with my children in MY ENTIRE LIFE!) And then it gets funnier.

Diva giggles. It's a giggle like she has just unearthed the best secret in the entire world a nine-year-old girl could EVER discover. Then she says:

"Ajers and Tukey have a DICK!"

I can honestly say I've never heard of a sporting goods store coming in so handy in helping a Mom teach her kids about the birds and the bees :)

Too funny!

Hey manicmommy. Thanks so much for visitng my blog. I had to come check yours out too. I'm glad I found it, I'll have to bookmark it.

Unfortunately we don't have any Dicks around here but we do have a lot of wine and liquor stores...snort, snort, giggle.

Since I have two boys we've had a lot of interesting conversations in this house. One day my son asked what a tampon was (after seeing a tv commercial). His dad explained it was something that mom made dad go to the grocery store and get all the time. His response?

"Oh, you mean it's like margarita mix?"

That is fantastic! And I know that giggle. Imagine a class of high school students when their teacher tells them to do their "breast" work. ;) I was like, you're not going to let that go? And they said, NO!

Yeah, manic, making the boys explain it to their sister was THE BEST! Score one for the mom!
That should teach them, of course, if they are smart enough to remember the lesson. Speaking as a middle school teacher, of course: most guys aren't. Sorry.

Your kids crack me up.

Also I've passed your blood challenge on to a bunch of people. They won't take my blood because I lived in Europe and am apparently as a result at risk for mad cow. Moooo

Just wait until she calls them Dicks!

HAHAHA! Now in my house, the phrase, "Don't be such a sporting store" would run rampant, but I have smart mouthed female teenagers (my boy is only 8... his time is a'comin' growing up after the three girls!)

Oh, btw, I finally got my website rebuilt this week (yes, I did it myself, so it took a week!) and I hope you don't mind that I linked you off of it under my "favorites" page.
