A Thousand-Worded Picture:

Tell me this is not the most beautiful picture you have ever seen?

Thank you SO MUCH to Barb from Melbourne, Florida, my first-ever blood-donator contestant! You rock, and you look beautiful saving lives!

And this is what she said:

"Here it is ~ for the first time in 27 years ~ I gave blood. Thanks for the much-needed push. I now plan on doing this much more often ... It is a wonderful thing to do especially as there was a 70-car pile up locally today which makes me realize how much blood is needed."

Visit Barb at her blog, So How Was Your Day? I'd venture to say she's feeling pretty good right about now!

Okay guys, see how easy it looks? Who's next!?!?!? Mom, Dad, Tse-Tse? You all qualify--I never said Family is exempt!!! Go ahead and donate some blood! I know you're reading this!

Contest Details Here!

Way to go Barb!

Just looking at that picture made my face go pale and my stomach knot up. Love the contest but you won't be seeing my picture here. My tiny spider veins that are prone to blowing out on contact with needles have me very shy of donating blood. I'd love to give back since other donors saved my life years ago but... the first time I attempt to give I'll need some serious backup and a ride home.

Hey, by the way, T with Honey, I have to tell you I feel HORRIBLE for never getting to your Minute with Manic!! I really do! There were like four or five of you I bagged out on and I am soooo sorry. I feel like I let some of you down on that, and I apologize for that. I just couldn't keep up my end of that bargain. I hope you're not mad! So, it's totally fair that you can't donate blood! But you can tell your friends, right?!?!!?

: )

WTG, Barb!

The last time my step-dad went into the hospital, I was told I couldn't give blood because I'm still breastfeeding, otherwise I'd play along!

WTG Barb!

Thanks again Manic for getting people out there to give blood.

People like me need it and it does truely save lives.

Good job Barb.

I just read T's comment and it was almost identical to what I was feeling.

I saw that BIG needle and my heart seriously skipped a beat and I got light headed. I so want to try to do this but WOW that picture almost made me pass out. I saw spots, no exaggerating.

HELP!

Breathe In, Breathe Out...

Just like the previous post and the youtube video... just breathe in, breathe out, and keep your eyes closed, and think of the lives you're saving.

I swear if I could be with every one of you to talk you through it, I would. I think when I 'retire' I want to be a blood donor lady to help everyone give blood!

Because I lived in Europe and ate a lot of English beef they won't let me give blood. Apparently I am at risk for having mad cow disease. moo.....

However- I can donate my organs and have signed up on the registry to give the gift when I can- although it's possible no one will want my liver when I'm done with it.

Cheers Barb! What a trooper.

Yay, Barb! Yay, Manic!

I'll drive and hand-hold anywhere within a 4-hour drive of Houston, TX. True story.

Marathon is Sunday and after that, I may cut hubby off until he donates. Cut. Him. Off. If you get my drift...

Your blood doning unit is so swanky!! Ours do not look like that...

So, how come you can't give blood due to new varient CJD but you can give organs? I can understand the not giving blood but not the organs part.
